Overview

The new Xigmatek XAF Series of 120mm/140mm system fans continues the company’s innovative design focus to provide advanced features and performance while maintaining excellent value to the end user. The innovative “waveform” shape of the fan blades on the XAF series aren’t just for show and provide real performance benefits. The XAF series also features a very high quality copper bearing system which extends the service life of the fan 50% over that of fans using regular ball or sleeve bearings.

Xigmatek XAF-F1255 PWM controlled fan

A New Wave in Fan Design

The unique “waveform” fan blade shape of the XAF series fans were specifically designed to maximize airflow per revolution. The “waveform” shape, along with the minimized central hub, increases the surface area of each fan blade over traditional designs and delivers up to 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs over normal fan designs. Furthermore, unlike traditional fans which act like an air scoop, the irregularly shaped wave of air that forms in front of the “waveform” blade helps to reduce the collection of dust on the fan blade itself.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade designed for performance – The unique shape of the XAF series fan blades and the minimally sized central hub dramatically increases blade surface area and generates 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs to traditional fans. More airflow equals better cooling performance.

• Dramatically reduces dust collection – Traditional curved fan designs act like air scoops and over time they collect dust over the entire blade which increases air resistance and decreases performance. The unique “waveform” fan blade of the XAF series generates an irregularly shaped pressure wave in front of the fan blade which helps to reduce dust collection.

• High quality copper bearing for long life – The bearing is the heart of a fan system. Xigmatek’s use of superior grade copper materials for the bearing system ensures up to 50% longer service life than regular ball or sleeve bearing designs. Greater reliability gives you peace of mind for your PC system.

Features

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade design to dramatically increase airflow up to 20% over standard blade designs

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Moves pleanty of air, quiet when on a good fan controller, excellent "case" fan. Works perfect for rads when fan speed is controlled see other thoughts.

Cons: Cords are a little on the short side in a full tower let alone anything bigger.

Other Thoughts: These fans have dam good static pressure as well as high CFM. When placed on a radiator, or as an exhaust fan. These WILL make noise, the fans themselves are dead on at 26DbA, it's the air turbulence you hear, not the fan. All these complaints about noise, use a fan controller. Currently got these on a Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta in push pull at 50% speed and to me are whisper quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: High speeds at tolerable noise levels
4-pin design has many benefits

Cons: LED's are always annoying to me, but not going to deduct an egg for poor aesthetics - I'm concerned solely with function

Other Thoughts: Bought to replace a fan cooling my CPU. The cooling setup I have can use two 120mm fans - one for intake and one exhaust. It came with a pair of 3-pin fans with unmountable and poorly designed controllers. I bought this so I wouldn't have to fool with a 3-pin + controller and let the motherboard handle all the work. Great fan.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing BLOWS

Pros: ...in a VERY GOOD way, of course. ;-) Cool LEDs to add style, and some seriously quiet air-moving muscle.

Cons: None that I can think of -- a little pricey, but not too bad.

Other Thoughts: I'm a fan of this fan.

3 out of 5 eggsNoisy

Pros: I bought and installed two of these and they move a ton of air.

Cons: Noisy, noisy, noisy. Makes the use of going to quieter larger fans null and void. Made my build sound like it was taking off.

Other Thoughts: Giving them 3 eggs as the noise is not for me. I believe they are great fan otherwise even though I RMA'd them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooling Capabilites.

Pros: I have build a gaming machine which has and 4.0 Ghz eight core processor overclocked to 4.5 per core. I have three of these attatched to my heatsink and under load my processor peaked a 38 degrees celcius.
The LEDs and black fan look great together.
They have a great life expectancy. This is great since I have them running a full tilt all the time.

Cons: They are a little loud... That was expected considering the ammount of air flow they can produce.
When the fan is mounted on the heatsink, the fan make a whining noise because the fan blades are so close to the cooling fins. I have two of the three fans in a push/pull configuration.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan

Pros: Very quiet for a 90+ CFM fan. I tried several other fans, they all create more noise and most were a good 20CFM lower in air movement. In fact I just ordered a second one so I can use them in a push-pull configuration on my Corsair water cooling system.

Cons: I'm not big on LEDs on my fans... but it's not noticable, so who cares.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended.

2 out of 5 eggsChanged my Mind

Pros: Great air flow

Looks great

Cons: WAY TOO LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!

Other Thoughts: I want a silent computer, this fan didn't help at all! It is much louder that the 26dBA maximum loudness.

4 out of 5 eggsWell Read it I suppose

Pros: Pushes A TON of air, White LEDs Look Classy, The Wave form blades actually do concentrate airflow, Comes with Adapters etc.

Cons: I Personally cannot handle this fan plugged directly into the PSU/@100%...My Max Tolerance is 49% fan power literally at 50% the noise starts and progressively gets worse if speeds increase..I have The fans (I bought 2) set up as front intakes and both set at 49% typical load 60%max Load////The 60% is tolerable with my 3 other case fans cranked via manual control and my Overclocked GTX 670 running at 100% load ...so yeah they are loud,,,TO ME,,,not a problem if you have a fan controller or fan control software tho....I will say NZXT's Same Level fans are much quieter with 10 cfm less flow but whisper quiet at 80 cfm at 75%fan power..

Other Thoughts: These fans are really good but like I said above loud when ran @ 100% especially 2 lol!!

4 out of 5 eggsDissapointed with the sound. Pleased with Performance.

Pros: *Very cool looking, especially with the 4 white LEDs

*Moves A LOT of air!

*Definitely made a difference in my cpu temps, about 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.

Cons: Can be very loud at anything higher than 35% fan speed. It's not so much that you can hear the air moving more than the fan motor. Maybe I got a bad one who knows. But the motor is louder than the stock corsair H60 fan it replaced when at 1300 RPM or higher. it's most definitely louder than the 26 dBA max printed on the back of the box which is a whisper.

Sometimes the manufacturer responds to these so Xigmatek, if my motor is too loud, please allow me to RMA. I'd like to run higher RPM's without sounding like a mini lawn mower

Other Thoughts: I really don't need it higher than 35% fan speed but I would like to in order to get better temps at higher clock speeds. At 35% speed it still moves a lot of air and keeps my cpu at decent temps: 68C stressed on OCCT @4.2Ghz, 43C-51C while gaming, and 27C-30C idle. All in all a very good fan

5 out of 5 eggsReview

Pros: Good air flow, not to loud, cheap.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Not really a con but I could have done with out the lights on the fan.
