In the Old Testament of 1 Samuel, Chapter 17 tells a story of an ordinary man named David whom nobody believed in. 5 out of 5 eggsExcellent low-height cooler for media PCs and microATX cases

Pros: I needed a quality, not-too-high cooler for a vertical microATX case with a fan blowing in from the side to cool a fanless video card. This was a good choice. There is sufficient room between the side-fan and the cooler fan. After the thermal compound had several cycles, idle temperatures for an i5-2500 range in the high 20s. During an Intel IPDT test, temperatures never exceeded 50 C. My previous cooler, one of those with a copper center and no heat pipes, displayed temperatures of low to mid-60s during an Intel IPDT test.

The mounts allow for a 120mm fan or a 140mm fan with mounting holes in the 120mm position. I chose the latter. Your configuration may or may not have room to clear a 140mm fan (buy the cooler first, and then verify dimensions). Screws for both 25mm and thinner fans are included. The mounting kit includes mounts for just about every CPU on the market, both Intel and AMD. Workmanship is excellent.

Cons: I wanted to orient the cooler so the heat pipes ran horizontally with the elbows positioned next to the exhaust fan, but the other side would not clear my Crucial Ballistix Tactical RAM. Memory sticks without any heatsink would have fit okay. So I oriented the cooler with the elbows next to the RAM. This was only a minor concern, not enough to knock eggs off.

Other Thoughts: To install, you will either need to remove the motherboard or have a case which allows access to the bottom side of the motherboard. Even if you have installed coolers before, read the instructions first.

I would buy this cooler again for other applications.

4 out of 5 eggsProlimatech PRO-SAM17 Samuel 17 CPU Cooler

Pros: Fast shipping from Newegg.com as usual.
One of the best Cooler you can buy for mini-itx system.

Cons: Fan is not included.

Other Thoughts: After installation, CPU temp dropped down to 30 C degree at idle.
40 C degree at 50-60% load.
Very satisfied with purchase.
One egg off is because of the fan not included.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Cooler with the right Fan

Pros: Small and well built. With the right fan, e.g., Noctua NF-P14r redux 14mm, it's as good at cooling as much more expensive ones. And it's quiet, again with the right fan. The six heat pipes along with the thick fins give it the power to compete with bigger coolers, oh so good for small cases.

Cons: For its size, none!

Other Thoughts: The way you can use a large fan, 14mm with 12mm mounts, that overlaps the edges to cool the whole MB is quite ingenious!

5 out of 5 eggsgreat htpc cooler

Pros: -Low cooler height
-Impressive build quality
-Easily fits over mini-itx motherboard
-Fan cools mobo

Cons: Requires the purchase of a pwm fan for a quiet system

Could purchase an all in one water cooler for the same money

Other Thoughts: I am using this on an AMD 7850k in a mini-itx case.

95 watts plus overclock in a cramped case is challenging for this cooler in a cramped case with a quiet fan

Need a higher cfm fan. 65 watts or less would be perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsStable Passive Cooler!

Pros: Low profile stable passive cooler for lower temp CPUs

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Originally bought this cooler to be used in my media center with a fan attached. After installing it I didn't have enough room to mount even a slim 120mm fan and still close my case. To my surprise leaving the system on over a long weekend with the AC off in Texas the system never hit over 48*C running a CPU intensive benchmark. This was done on a i3 3220

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler, tight fit.

Pros: Great cooling capacity. Looks great. Skips the usual loud stock fan. Great price for a high performing low profile cooler.

Cons: The fitment can be a bit tough depending on socket type, memory slot placement and other motherboard component placement around the CPU socket area.

Other Thoughts: Fitted to a Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI in a InWin BP-Series LW-BP671.300BL mITX case. The cooler can only be oriented in one way due to the close proximity of the memory slots. This wasn't an issue but clearance is very tight. I needed to cut down the SATA power connector to the ODD so the edge of the cooler to have enough room for the ODD to be installed. Paired this with a Corsair SP 120 fan for amazing cooling. Keeps the power delivery circuitry and other chipsets cool with the down-draft.

5 out of 5 eggsgo-to cooler

Pros: -Blows air onto motherboard and cools memory
-Wide variety of fan options

Cons: -Can't mount 38mm wide fans, only 25 and 15mm.

Other Thoughts: My go-to cooler. I've used these Prolimatech Samuel 17s with various mATX and ITX boards (all Intel) and never had an issue with clearance. This cooler uses four bolts with nylon spacers to mount, so no need to worry about blackplates that can interfere with stuff on the back of the board. I install by positioning the mounting holes one at a time over the edge of a desk to easily slide each bolt in from underneath without the cooler sliding around on the paste. There's even enough room underneath to fit G.Skill Ripjaws. With a 113CFM fan a Pentium 3430 under full load runs ~45C while an i5 4670 runs ~58C with estimated ambient temperatures about 18C.

5 out of 5 eggsSamuel 17 Cooler Review

Pros: Excellent cooler for my Z77IA-E53 board with a 3750k processor in an ML05 case. It brought my non-overclocked idle temperature down to around 25-30* C and stress test not over 65*C using a generic 120mm fan at its lowest speed of 700rpm. Great cooler if you need something low profile and quiet.

Cons: Pricey and out of stock frequently. You get what you pay for.
