Over the years, Prolimatech PK-1 has become one of the hardware testers’ favorite. It is not hard to see why. PK-1 is a premium grade of thermal compound that is easy to spread and is reliable throughout the year. It will not dry out while continuing to provide good heat transfer from your CPU to your heatsink base. Performance-wise, Pk-1 is a contender for the top spot as it beat other major brands of thermal compound in the market. To maintain top condition, we highly recommend reapplying PK-1 every year.

  • newegg Easy to apply The Prolimatech PK-1 enables easy application and prevents unnecessary waste.
  • newegg Excellent long-term stability The non-corrosive thermal compound features low dry-out. Having no conductive material, the Prolimatech PK-1 will not result in any damage even when it contacts to electrical traces, pins and leads.

5 out of 5 eggsSo long other silver stuff... I knew ye well

Pros: GREAT TIM
Non conductive
More for your $$

Cons: Not enough ppl know about it

Other Thoughts: I'm not going to come in and bash other TIMs and say this is a "miracle sauce" or something but it cools just as well (or better) than the popular stuff, is non conductive and I get a TON more of it for like $1 over what said popular stuff costs.

Will be using this stuff or the PK3 from now on as my go-to TIM for all my computron needs.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy this paste if you want the safest, easiest, best

Pros: Keeps my a10-7870k Overclocked to 4.7ghz 1.475 volts (stock voltage) at a cool 61 Celsius in conjunction with a cooler master seidon 120 (w 2 120mm cougar fans in push pull) non electrically conductive so no worries about shorts. Buy this paste. performs much better than similarly priced pastes. Wipes the floor with arctic silver and most other pastes. Also doesn't require any curing to be effective.

Cons: Isn't literally the cheapest, easiest, safest, best. but if you look at benchmarks its second place in all of those categories which no other paste can brag.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Performer, Easy Application, Good Price

Pros: 2.5+ years running an Intel 3770k overclocked to 4.7GHz running at 29-60C with an H100i closed-loop CPU cooler (not highest end) with sub-optimal fan placement and airflow to boot (my case was too small to mount the fans the best way). If you've got a better setup with better airflow, better cooler, etc., you'll have even better performance (IF you apply the paste properly).

Only 2.7C warmer temps than TH's highest performing thermal material for 2013 closed-loop water coolers: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/thermal-paste-performance-benchmark,3616-17.html

Close in price to the higher-end stuff without a difficult application process.

Better than Arctic Silver. STOP USING ARCTIC SILVER. =P

Cons: If you're a pro at Thermal Interface Material (T.I.M.) application and don't mind a little more preparation, you may want to look at higher-end pastes depending on the component you're cooling; pricing is competitive enough to warrant some research:

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/thermal-compound-charts/benchmarks,155.html

Other Thoughts: If you're getting good stuff like this, you might as well go all the way and make sure you have good prep materials. Get some thermal material cleaner/remover and surface purifying solution (often bundled in two bottles). This'll make sure you get your money's worth from your T.I.M.

5 out of 5 eggsBest stuff (did not test to prove)

Pros: Great temperature conductivity per spec and for a good price. Easy to use with syringe and tool to help spread on CPU/GPU.

Cons: No complains.
Too bad I do not have time or money I would be willing to invest testing this compound to the other on the market, but spec suggests this is best to second best on market.

Other Thoughts: Do not let relatively low price trick you into thinking it is not good - look at spec.
Do not buy stuff that have no info for its thermal conductivity as Arctic Silver, which i read reports are awful at conducting heat.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lowered temps a couple of degrees more than AS 5, but that could be due to the AS 5 being fairly old and they recommend replacing about once a year. That said, the PK-1 doesn't need to be replaced as often, so props there.

Cons: The cap was a bit tough to remove for the first time, but it's nice to know it's well secured and sealed from drying out.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems to be doing the job

Pros: Used this when installing a hydro cooler. The consistency made smooth coverage a snap, and heat transfer appears excellent (6-core AMD Phenom runs @ 19C most of the time).

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: See other thoughts

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: I used this to replace the thermal compound in my XPS 17 laptop. On both the Nvidia GPU and for the updated processor I bought. I did that one year after owning the laptop and it has been another year and a half of regular use since then. Still only gets luke warm when playing games like Borderlands 2 or Skyrim

5 out of 5 eggsBest TIM for the price

Pros: – Been using Arctic Silver for the longest time (blind obedience) and it was time to try something new because I found a serious flaw with AS.

– No cure time and doesn't dry out after a year. What many fail to mention is that this paste is far superior on medium to poor contact surfaces vs other popular TIMs like Arctic Silver.

I have a MSI 6970 Lightning (dual monitor) and the stock cooler has very poor contact with the GPU. Arctic Silver, no matter how many times I reapplied it, and using all application methods failed to keep the card cool under load, always going over 75C sometimes hitting 80C, gets worse as time goes on and dust accumulates.

After applying PK-1, temps under the same load kept the card under 70C (hovers around 66-68C)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Arctic Silver requires good to perfect contact to work well, in fact many pastes work well with good to perfect contact. What's important is the TIM works even when the contact is poor like on direct heatpipe CPU coolers. Under those applications Arctic Silver will flat out fail.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: One of the highest rated thermal compounds on the market. I didn't have any other paste to try with, but the Prolimatech was easy to apply and seems to work. Overclocked to 4.5ghz my 4670k gets up to 80C running 100%.

Cons: Came with enough to apply more than 10 times..way more than I'll use in a long time.
