5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: installed with arctic silver 5, cpu never goes above 31c while gaming, and stays at room temp the rest of the time.

Cons: the size may surprise you,

Other Thoughts: I hope it lasts

4 out of 5 eggsGood choise

Pros: This is a great looking cpu cooler. Its huge, but installed fairly easy! Keeps system between 30-32 C. Just make sure you're putting this in a big case!

Cons: Can't use tall ram on the first 2 slots of motherboard. This isn't a big deal though.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsReally good cooler

Pros: It is one of the best coolers I've had the chance to deal with, it's not as big as a nh-d14, it's black.

It really is a very high quality product. Keeps my 2500k at 29c with the fan running at 768 rpm and its actually 27c in the room.

at 50$, don't look somewhere else, its the best bang for your buck

Cons: red led, might not be for everyone

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Air Cooler

Pros: This cooler (with a Noctua NF-P12 fan) keeps my i5-4670k frosty at about 29c idle and 45c during benchmarking. I am at stock clocks and running about 0.25 undervolt. I have not de-lidded.

I am shocked at how well this cools compared to my previous Hyper 212 EVO in push/pull with 2x NF-P12s. That setup was sitting right around 32c idle and about 59c during benchmarking.

The idle temp wasn't bad, but a 14c drop in load temps is shocking! And that is with one less fan!

Build quality on the heatsink itself is rivaled only by Noctua, IMHO. I have used NH-D14s, NH-U12Ps, and NH-U12Ss before. This is built in a very similar fashion to a Noctua cooler, from what I can tell. Especially looking at the folded edges on the outside of the heatsink, LOVE THAT!

Install was a breeze. Slightly less inspired than a Noctua install, but considerably better than Thermaltake, Zalman, or Cooler Master. The instructions were even half decent and did not require finding a YouTube video.

Packaging was nice too. Quality cardboard and very nice closed cell foam on the inside. My unit arrived in pristine shape. Box of hardware on the top was also very nicely done.

Unfortunately, I cannot speak to the sound level or performance of the included fan. I found that Noctua fans work for me, so thats what I use. When I installed this, I went straight to a Noctua NF-P12 with a ULNA adapater. With that setup, its dead quiet and stays very very cool.

Cons: So while I was super impressed with the cooler itself, I was a little let down by the mounting hardware.

The backplate was plastic instead of metal. To me, they should always be metal for an air cooler. Its a lot of weight to support, and trusting it to a piece of plastic is a little short sighted to me. I can see using a plastic backplate on an AIO, not so much a large tower cooler.

Also the mounting bars were slightly disappointing. I will say they felt sturdy, nothing wrong with the actual build quality. However, they were not polished, or better still hyper black like the hardware on an H100i.

This oversight becomes more apparent after you realize you can cover up the front side with the fan, but since you cannot cover the rear with a fan, you can see all the bright, unpolished, unloved metal on the backside.

Considering how dead sexy this cooler is when mounted, I cannot understand why EVGA decided to cut this corner. I would have gladly paid an additional $5-$10 to have those things addressed.

All that being said, not enough to dock an egg. The performance (especially being single fan) is amazing.

Other Thoughts: This cooler is awesome! I was expecting a decent cooler at this price, but I actually just bought it because it was black. The only things that were not black or red were my CPU cooler and my fans. I run all Noctua fans, so nothing i could do with that. However, I wanted to see if there was something a little more stealthy than the CM Hyper 212 EVO I was using previously.

After looking around I saw a couple black Phanteks and of course the Xigamatek Dark Knight. Then I accidentally stumbled on this bad boy! So glad that I did!

I love this cooler and I hope that EVGA continues to improve on this cooler and expand their lineup.

4 out of 5 eggsCPU Fan

Pros: Very good fan. Its so large my case fan can't fit in the case, but this fan basically acts as my case fan. CPU runs cool and it is very quiet.

Cons: Recently went to upgrade CPU. This thing is so bulky I had to take the motherboard out of the computer to put in the new CPU. Be careful.

Other Thoughts: I ordered the computer pre-built, so i did not build it. If you build your own, i would recommend the fan, but be careful if you ever need it out of your machine.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Excellent CPU Cooler

Pros: Got this as an earlier release under a different name. See OTHER THOUGHTS for details.

Keeps my i5-2500K with a mild overclock to 4.0GHz at a comfortable 55C under heavy gaming like BattleField3. I actually haven't heard the fan spin up to max yet so I can still improve on that with some BIOS fan tweaking if I choose.

If you ever need to replace the fan, it clips in fine with no hassles. (I didn't like the LED's)

Cons: Cannot run a push-pull set up. There aren't any clips/hooks to put a fan on the back. But I'm also running a 2500K at 4.0GHz at 55C under load with a conservatively quiet fan profile, sooo... yeah, unless you're an extreme overclocker, the one 70CFM fan is more than adequate. So that's still not really a con....

Red LED's. My case theme is blue so I just got a non-LED fan with the same CFM rating. Not really a con, just a personal preference. Though, you now know that a replacement fan will clip in just fine if you ever need it, no hassles there.

Other Thoughts: Got this a year earlier when it was called "EVGA Superclock Cooler" which can be seen here:
looks familiar doesn't it?

It disappeared off the market for a while which kinda disappointed me because THIS IS A TRULY EXCELLENT COOLER. Happy to see it released again under a new name.
