Delivering both silent operation and maximum airflow, Spectre LED PWM will keep your CPU running cool without sounding like an airplane hangar. Sickle fan blades enhance airflow without producing excess noise, while on-the-fly LED light switching when used together with the BitFenix Hydra Pro Fan Controller or Survivor Chassis allows you to turn the lights on and off with a press of a button. If you do not have either of those, Spectre LED PWM can also be used as a regular LED fan with jumper-selectable on/off.

  • newegg PWM Technology Spectre LED PWM uses pulse width modulation technology to adjust fan speeds. This technology enables your system to control your cooling with much greater precision than conventional linear voltage fans, making them perfect for CPU coolers.
  • newegg Silent Operation Keeping your CPU cool shouldn't mean having to make a racket at the same time. Spectre LED PWM fans are designed to cool silently, so you can keep your mind focused on the task at hand.
  • newegg Enhanced Airflow Spectre LED PWM fans feature sickle fan blades, which create a torrent of air without creating excess noise. This means that your system stays cool in the heat of battle without disturbing your computing environment.
  • newegg Multiple Colors and Sizes Spectre LED PWM comes in a wide range of colors and sizes. Choose the LED colors you want to achieve the ultimate look for your gaming rig, and with multiple sizes to choose from, you can be sure to find a fan that fits.
  • newegg On-the-Fly Light Switching Another BitFenix first, Spectre LED PWM fans feature on-the-fly LED on/off switching. Simply connect Spectre LED PWM to either the BitFenix Hydra Pro Fan Controller or Survivor Chassis, and turn your fan LEDs on and off with a press of a button. Spectre LED PWM can also work as a regular LED fan with jumper-selectable on and off.
  • newegg Aggressive Looks Both On and Off Manufactured from a high-grade tinted polycarbonate resin, Spectre LED PWM fans give a sleek dark look when off, while still emitting bright lights when the LEDs are turned on. No matter if you keep your lights on or off, Spectre LED PWM keeps your system looking great.

1 out of 5 eggsWobbly fans

Pros: 140mm PWM fans with blue LEDs are hard to find

Cons: I received two of them, and both have the same defect: The hub that the blades connect to is off center, causing a huge amount of vibration and an unreal amount of noise that can't be silenced even with the best silicone fan gasket. The wobbling is so bad that these fans will dance across the floor even at low RPM.

The motor also has a noticeable ticking sound, but you can't hear it over the vibrating.

The packaging and website claims that this fan comes with a "LED cable" so you can control the brightness of the LEDs, but no such cable exists on the fan.

Other Thoughts: I contacted Bitfenix about these issues and, although they did make contact with me, they did not answer any of my questions about these defects

5 out of 5 eggsawesome fan

Pros: This is a great quality fan. I have it side by side with a coolermaster 140mm fan. At high speed, this one seems to move more air and is slightly more silent. The build appears a little better to me. I am not biased to one brand or another, but this is merely a personal opinion.
I don't have much to say about the color of the led as this is a 4 pin connect fan ( I think thats the pwm portion) and I am using a fan controller that only accepts 3 pins. I have this fan connected directly to my mobo and am not changing the speed of the fan. It's on high all of the time, but it is so very quiet.

I think bitfenix does make a fan controller, called recon. That device accepts 3 and 4 pin fans, so that would be a better mix if you plan on going higher end. I am happy with my basic nzxt for the price I paid.

Cons: I really can't think of much bad to say. There are glue beads on each side of the fan. It's not the highest quality glue job and I'm not exactly sure the purpose.
This by no means is going to deduct anything from the quality here, just wanted to mention something negative.

I guess cost is an issue as well, but I think you are getting what you pay for.
