5 out of 5 eggsFractal 120mm

Pros: Very silent and move a decent amount of air for my needs. Definitely a big upgrade over previous fan setup. Went from sounding like a leaf blower to being barely audible unless I'm <1ft. away.

Cons: None so far besides price!

1 out of 5 eggsnot silent!

Pros: comes with a voltage reducer which in theory should allow these to run silently

Cons: loud, obnoxious, NOT 12db or 15db...more like 50 or 60db, my dishwasher is quieter!

Other Thoughts: I bought 4 of these the replace the Silverstone fans that came with my case 4 years ago. They had been running 24x7x365 for 4 years and at least one of them was starting to get loud (this is an HTPC and it has to be QUIET!).

I cleaned 4 years of accumulated dust from the fan ports, installed these new fans, and turned the computer on. My ears were instantly assaulted by a combination of a high pitch whine, an engine roar, and a clicking sound. All 3 of the brand-new fans (I bought 4 but only needed 3) were having problems the very first time I used them. I removed each fan and independently tested them when positioned both horizontally and vertically (my case requires vertical positioning). After a break-in period of over an hour the "jet engine" never quieted down (it went back in the box), the whine came and went, and the clicking sound stopped. I also tried the fans using the supplied voltage reducer which only helped quiet one of the fans to a satisfactory level.

I removed the grime my old Silverstone fans, tested those, determined that 2 were fine and put the OLD fans back in the case.

The voltage reducer does work...it does a great job of making my Silverstone fans even quieter than they already were.

I would return all of these but I fear the restocking fee and return shipping outweigh the value. These will either go in the circular filing bin or be kept in a box as as a last-resort/emergency-only backup.

ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED! I would give zero eggs if that was possible.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan!

Pros: Quiet, low noise.
Good airflow.
Color scheme (matches my case).
Good value.

Cons: Not the most quietest fan, but works well enough.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these fans to use as an extra bottom intake fan on my Fractal Define R4 case. It's mainly to bring in extra cool air for the video card right above it. The fan is extremely quiet. I don't use it all the time, only for when I'm running a game and the video card heats up significantly.
I have an ASUS GTX 770 card and when its fans are running their fan noise is louder than this 120mm fan noise. The fan is not as silent as Noctua fans at max speed, but it's really negligible in my case. Still a great fan, well built, works great.

5 out of 5 eggsNice fans

Pros: Quiet and reliable fans for PC cases and CPU heat sink cooling.

Cons: Nothing that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Very reliable fans and very little noise. You can hear them if you are sitting right next to the computer but not from across the room. These fans blow.... in a good way!

5 out of 5 eggsBest 120mm Fan for respective application

Pros: I have read reviews of a lot of fans, and over the years have seen my share of different brands and quality. I have come to the conclusion that the quality of fans vs price; really only makes sense when you put into perspective its application. For example lets have a scale of 1 through 5 for the following parameters
1) Noise
2) CFM
3) Quality/Reliability/Sturdines/Vibration

I have tested 3 of the best rated 120 mm fans on newegg for middle of the road price, $9-$16; they are the following:
a)Item #: N82E16835352006 Fractal Design Silent Series
b)Item #: N82E16835553001 Cougar Silent CF-V12
c)Item #: N82E16811999099 Enermax UC-12EB

Specs will only tell you so much to really know how these fans compare you have to actually compare them.

So if you are the type of person that requires absolute silence where the noise from the fan blends in with the general background noise of a office or bedroom; then Enermax wins by a big margins. It is by far the quietest of the fans.

If you are the type of person that needs to run high performance components and your build includes lots of drives; video-cards and so on... and don't mind knowing that the computer is ON; then Fractal Design is the way to go; It is about %50 more loud then Enermax however it also offers about double the CFM; at least as it is perceived on one's skin and not just specs on a piece of paper.

If you are the type of person that has a high performance computer; and require extreme overclocking; then Couger is your guy. It is significantly louder then Fractal; It offers a little bit more airflow CFM; however not by much compared to the Fractal fan.

Cons: I am the kind of person that would like to hear myself think when i am in my office; and if I want to sleep on the couch in the office; I should be able to do so without knowing the computer is there. Therefore for me; it is imperative that i get the quitest fan; while still being able to cool the computer.

I am also a gamer and power user and also demand the best and the latest graphics and cpu's and also have the ability to overclock if I want to.

To satisfy both my needs silent and powerful I had to spend a lot more money and go with water cooling couples with the absolute silent Enermax fans. To be able to maintain a half decent overclock on both the gpu and cpu; i had to go with 2 radiadors; each having 240mm or 2 fans on it.

Other Thoughts: My system is as follows
intel Sandybridge i5 2500K watercooled
2x Nvidia Gtx 670 watercooled
2x 240gb Samsung SSD 840pro
Swiftec pump runing at level 3
2 radiators+4 enermax fans
Single water loop

System is silent and the same level of noise; whether gaming; typing a word document or overclocking. I literaly could hear myself think; and even the most picky person could sleep in the same room; and not be bothered by the noise which kind of gets lost in the background.

Temperatures
IDLE /word/webbrowsing CPU 28C, GPU 29C
Gaming CPU 45C, GPU 46C
Overclocking CPU @4.5ghz GPU's 10-15% overclock;
full load on all 4 cores and on the GPU's I get about
65C on the cpu and 65C on the GPU's

Overclocking Gaming CPU 55C, GPU 60C

5 out of 5 eggsThe Schcoop..

Pros: 1. Quiet on normal settings
2. Quieter with the choke, my preference. Or you can set the speed in your BIOS if you are using the MB to power them, which is really the way to go...

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I got these to go along with the Fractal R4 Silent Case, but I also ordered the 140mm for the HD fan shroud on front. Rather than have a couple fans do all the work with noise, get a couple more and run them silent with the same end result.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite

Pros: These fans are whisper quite even at full speed. The rubber "screws" where easy to install and prevent the fan from rattling against the case.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsNice Fan

Pros: It's very quiet and comes with screws and rubber mounts, which you can use instead to reduce the potential amplification caused by being rigidly attached to the case.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this to match the stock fan in my Fractal Design case, and I like the color scheme.

5 out of 5 eggsNice, well built fan

Pros: Nicely built, fairly quite and they move a decent amount of air.

Cons: No, they aren't the quietest nor the most efficient... but they aren't the most expensive, either.

Other Thoughts: Personally, I think the build quality is better than the more common brands, time will tell if the bearings hold up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

Pros: Got this to replace a rather noisy fan on a Corsair CPU heatsink. Is dead silent even without the reducer and moves enough air to keep my CPU at the same temps as the old fan. The white fan gives some nice contrast to the rest of my black case. No annoying LED's.

Cons: The rubber "screw" mounting system is a bit of a pain to install and I feel like they will strech out and break after a couple of uses. I opted to use the metal screws so its not really a con for me.
