5 out of 5 eggsFixed my CPU cooling issues

Pros: I installed an H80i and the temps went *up* about 5 to 10 degrees over the stock Intel CPU cooler (from 30 - 35C to 35 - 45C). Decided the paste must have been bad and used some old Arctic Silver 5 I had laying around and didn't get enough on there for fear of putting too much and it messing up my system, so the temps were again 5-10 degrees higher with much wider fluctuations to the high side. It shot up to over 80C once.

So, I looked around and researched a lot of things and found the GELID GC-Extreme and took a chance. Cleaned it all up again and applied the compound a little thicker than probably necessary, but figured it's not supposed to be conductive, so what the heck.

It immediately dropped the temperatures down to below where the original Intel stock CPU cooler was (29 to 33C). After a little while, I now see temps as low as 25C and almost never above 40C even under load and in the middle of summer in Texas.

Cons: The only con I can find is it's a little odd spreading the paste evenly, but it's not that bad and a little too much in my case hasn't caused any issues in well over a month's worth of use.

Other Thoughts: Board: ASUS Z87-Pro
CPU: Intel I5-4670k
CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Outstanding performance. Stands up well over time. The original application on a 4 year old CPU still going strong. This is my favorite thermal paste. I use it for CPU's and GPU's, on both air and water, I love it. I think this is pretty much the best you can get without going to the liquid metal stuff that is conductive and looks to be a real pain. This is one of those good products that just works great, I hope they never stop making it.

Cons: Almost impossible to spread, I don't even try anymore. The included spreader is useless. I just use a dot or a line and get excellent results!

5 out of 5 eggsJust love it!!!

Pros: I had a heat issue with one of my GPU's and guessed it was poor TIM application and it was but I never expected a 20C drop in temps. That's right 20c right off the bat. I am seriously impressed with this thermal paste and now use it for everything. I have some more on the way as I write this.
Applies very easily.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent thermal compound

Pros: This is the absolute best thermal paste out there, hands down.

Cons: None, unless you want to say that it's expensive. You get what you pay for!

Other Thoughts: I have seen some people say that you need to warm this paste in order to easily use it. This was not true in my case.

The spreader is a nice extra, but I don't use it. It's better to just apply a dot and put the CPU cooler right on to spread it.

Also, the black cap is rather difficult to remove without pliers. This is not really a con, but at first I thought it wasn't even supposed to be removed at all.

2 out of 5 eggspowder

Pros: works well

Cons: short term, dried out after a year of consumer gaming. I got great temps at the start but rising readings forced me to dissemble and have a look.

Other Thoughts: Short term use is as good as I can get. A5 outdistances it, as I see it. Not scientific. I am changing all my rigs back TO S5. For me it is a plan. Temps have fallen back to startup readings. Could be just me, those online test machines are quite daunting and I hesitate to doubt.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works great

Pros: It works like a charm keeping my CPU nice and frosty.

Cons: Its kind of sticky, basically has a paste like feel to it but the level of quality is quite great.

Other Thoughts: None, I've used this on 3-4 CPU's so far will say the little spreader that comes with it is awesome. Its a little sticky but once you get the hang of it its no problem and keeps things VERY cool.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing stuff

Pros: Easy to apply, not runny and not too thick.
Very effective, 10-25F temp drop
Relatively cheap, $13
One of the best rated pastes I could find that is also easy and safe to apply

Cons: -Nothing serious yet.
-Need to note how much you apply, if its too little the effect isn't very impressive, Presumably same for putting too much.

Other Thoughts: This was the first time I replaced thermal paste and was amazed how easy it was. I followed a tip and left the paste in hot water (110F+/-) for a while to warm up first.

Room temp 74F. CPU i5-3450, stock fan:
Stock paste: 96F idle, 125F load
GC-Extreme: 86F idle, 100F load

Now to see how durable it is and how long these results last.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: I tried different thermal pastes and this one gave me the best performance also the application is easy. Just put a small bb size drop on the cpu squeeze with your heat-sink and you are good to go.

Cons: price

Other Thoughts: none
