2 out of 5 eggsQuiet, but pretty much ineffective

Pros: Very quiet. Great to see hydrodynamic bearings starting to show up in sub-120mm fans.

Cons: Pushes very little air.

Seriously, the airflow is almost undetectable. I tried placing a small square of lightweight thermal paper over the intake and there wasn't enough negative pressure to draw or hold the paper in place for even a fraction of a second.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this to replace a failing SilenX in a 1U unmanaged switch, but the airflow is so minute I don't think it can effective cool the unit. I'll probly replace it with another SilenX or an overpriced Noctua.

In the 120mm bracket I only buy hydrostatic/hydrodynamic bearing fans for their superior lifespan, noise characteristic and noise levels. For a 40mm, it's exceedingly quiet and has a nice, even, low-pitch hum at audible range.

Maybe I just received a bad unit. The line tests at 12.025v (1A max), so I dont think that's the problem.

If the mfg wants to send me a couple [better] unit's I would definitely reconsider using them in the future. Otherwise, I wouldn't advise installing them in any server rooms or important gear.

5 out of 5 eggsSmall and silent

Pros: Small, quiet, and looks good. I was happy about the long cord. Small size fit right where I needed.

Cons: Price could have been a little lower.

3 out of 5 eggsGelid 40mm

Pros: They look cool.

Cons: They are a little louder than what I was hoping for and 1 of 3 died within 6 months.

Other Thoughts: I bought (3) Gelid 40mm fans and (3) 40mm Scythe Mini Kaze fans; both for HTPC's in the same exact applications. The Gelids are definitely louder and one of the Gelids already died.

3 out of 5 eggsLasted 5 months

Pros: Replacement cpu fan on Intel mini-ITX board.
Fit perfectly
Quiet and kept things cool enough

Cons: Ran fine for 4 months before it started making a buzzing sound... got louder over the next month until the buzzing was joined by an intermittent squeaking. Now it stops completely for 1-3 seconds before spinning back up with a startled squeal to buzz awhile longer.

1 out of 5 eggsFan was DOA

Pros: It looks great and has a small hub and large blade surface area. It looks like it could move a lot of air quietly (if it had worked)

Cons: The fan was DOA. The blades jiggled a bit but never spun up. Voltage supplied: 12v. Current draw was ~ 60mA. Returned for a refund. For a relatively expensive fan, compared to others, I was expecting better QA.

4 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: it works, and very quiet.

Cons: none except for the price here on newegg, did not buy mine on newegg tho, see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: more air flow wouldn't hurt, its silent as well, in fact I wouldn't mind an extra 5-10dba noise if they can get 3-5cfm air flow added to it.

and I don't know what newegg is thinking, but 12.99 for this fan here? I got mine for 7.55 free shipping on that auction site =P

if newegg drops price for this one at atleast 7.99 free shipping, get it! otherwise just get it somewhere else or got something else that has under 25dba noise and performs twice as good as this cfm wise.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: Used this fan to replace a failed SilenX IXP-11-14 40mm fan cooling a VIA C7 CPU on a SilenX IXN-40C heatsink. Very quiet, and seems to be cooling the 2GHz CPU adequately so far. 3 year manufacturer warranty is nice.

Cons: Does not push much air, but this is to be expected of such a small and quiet fan.

Other Thoughts: Time will tell how long the fluid dynamic bearings will last. Hopefully for a long time. Also, the cable length is very long (45 cm).
