4 out of 5 eggsIt's a fan.

Pros: It moves air through my computer case to keep things cool.

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: It's not as powerful as I expected but I am still pleased with the purchase because I bought it when it was on sale.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Fan

Pros: Works
Sleeved cable
Moves a ton of air

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Once I opened the package and saw this fan I could already tell it was of much higher quality than the other fans that I have bought before. This fan pushes way more air than any other fan in my case. If you are looking to cool something, and you want it quiet, buy this.

5 out of 5 eggsSerious Fans for Serious Builds!

Pros: First things first, these fans move a ton of air. I have two of these being used as intakes for my case and you can literally feel the air being sucked inside. These fans are definitely quiet but not silent. I was expecting some noise however, given the RPM these fans operate at and the amount of air they move. The anti-vibration pads do their job and prevent any additional noise. Also nice to see was the nice long cable that allows you to plug in to any of the System Fan headers on your motherboard. The cable wires are also encased to minimize air resistance and look nice to boot.

Cons: The "tool-less" rubber pins are nearly impossible to install without some serious effort and definitely impossible without needle nose pliers. Whatever designer at Cougar thought these floppy things would be a good idea needs a lesson in erectile dysfunction. I had to install two normal screws diagonal from one another, then thread the remaining two holes with the rubber pins using needle nose pliers to pull. By the time I finished two, I said forget it and pulled them out and installed two more regular screws instead. No vibration or unwanted noise came from using the normal screws so save yourself the time and throw the rubber fixed pins in the garbage. I am not taking off an egg for this however, because Cougar was nice enough to include both the rubber pins and screws.

Other Thoughts: Don't be scared away by some reviewers who say these are loud; these naysayers are speaking nonsense. These fans are definitely worth the price if you are looking for something that moves a lot of air and is relatively quiet. I happened to find them in an email deal and got them for $10.99 each and that is a steal for the performance you get.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat fan!

Pros: Great fan, moves more air and is quieter than my previous "low noise fan". Even when it speeds up it during heavy use it is not bad. 12cm internal case fan and works off of motherboard header so that is either 3 or 5v.
Really like this unit.

Cons: No cons so far!

4 out of 5 eggsloud, but very effective

Pros: got 4 of these to use in my CM Scout case as various intake/exhaust fans. They manage to keep my case temperature between 2-4 degrees above ambient, and thats with 2 open air 670's and an i5 3570k @ 4.5 GHz. I would call that extremely effective.
One of them acts as an exhaust on the side of the case next to one of the GFX cards and it actually works extremely well as a space heater for my feet.

Cons: LOUD. I first hooked these up directly to the power supply and i thought that i was on an airplane. I ended up having to buy a fan controller after about 3 days because it was driving me nuts.

Other Thoughts: even with my fan controller set to lowest setting, they still keep the pc very cool under idle, and generally my heavy use is only gaming, and I use headphones, so turning them up to max then doesnt bug me too much. Only 1 egg off for calling these "silent" as they are noticeably louder than my stock case fans.

5 out of 5 eggsI like these fans!

Pros: Quiet at low RPM and push a ton of air!

NOT silent at full RPM but that's just part of marketing and I understand that. It is to be expected that any fan, running at 1200 rpm or higher will make an audible noise.

Cougar says 1200 rpm, but on my Asrock Extreme 3 gen 3, I am showing 1451 rpm at full voltage.

You do NOT need the PWM version of this fan if you want to control the speed. this fan has a wide range of speed. From about 600 rpm to 1450 rpm. (or so my motherboard registers)

REMEMBER if you want this fan to be truly silent, You must lower the voltage / RPM.

They do a Consistant job of keeping my GPU and CPU very cool, even at extremely low and Silent RPM/Voltage.

They have a considerable amount of pressure and are great fans to use for either push, pull or both on a radiator.

Cons: One fan made a slight rattle when mounted facing up on my top radiator.. I moved it to my rear exhaust and put a different vortex in its place, I haven't had a problem since.

Other Thoughts: Beware of the PWM version of the Vortex.

Newegg had a batch in their warehouse that had been previously recalled.

If your manufacturing date on the sticker of your 120mm PWM vortex, shows a date before 2013, (mine was 11-06-2012) there is a pretty good chance that it has this recall.

These fans scream, and whine and squeal at any rpm below full.

I contacted Cougar (HEC GROUP / Compucase) and did an RMA though them.

Concerned if I do the RMA through Newegg ill end up with fans from the same batch.

Cougar was very responsive to my requests although they could not supply me with a shipping label and I was out $15.00 Then! out of nowhere NEWEGG came swooping through like HEROES and sent me a 15.00 gift card!

Remember PWM fans do not lower their voltage, their speed is controlled via your motherboard / 4 pin fan header.

And also remember that they use a 4 pin fan connection, not a 3 pin. So if you are air cooling your CPU and you dont have an extra 4 pin fan header on your mobo, you may have to get a fan controller or a Y cable and have your cpu fan split the channel with your case fans . Unless of coarse you are using the Vortex on your CPU Cooler!

I am very happy with Cougar products as a whole, and understand that S happens.

So I look forward to enjoying my (12 in total) vortex fans I have throughout my system (including a 140mm Vortex pwm in my PSU - the Cougar GX 1050 V2)

5 out of 5 eggsBest Fan I've Ever Bought

Pros: Very quiet, high air-flow, stylish

Cons: None that I can come up with.

Other Thoughts: These are the quietest fans I have ever installed on a computer. I'll be buying more in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsA Good Fan

Pros: Moves the air out of my micro case, and does it very very quietly.
Great color scheme that matches my whole set up.

Cons: Have not found any cons with this case fan yet.

Other Thoughts: I am using this fan in my micro ATX case with my i5 system, and I gotta tell ya, it works nice. It is very quiet, and the air is flowing out of the back of the little case in a easy strong flow. For those who say it is noisy, I don't know what to tell you, maybe there is a wire touching a blade?

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good fan, but Not silent.

Pros: Fans push a TON of air for 1200 rpm.. I also got a bunch of the PWM versions but this is for the NON-PWM ( fixed rpm) version... Got these for a great price on sale!

Cons: They are not Silent. I have some antec truequiet pros, they also run at 1200 rpm and they are SILENT! you have to put your ear right to it to hear anything.. These babies are pretty loud in comparison...

I spend a bit of money on these ordering 6 of them and then felt I had to order the PWM version as well because these are NOT silent.

The PWM version i can at least turn down the fans when im not trying to use a lot of CPU power.

Still not THAT loud... The XSPC fans I had (1650) ARE way louder.

I would recommend these but if you want them to run in silent mode. Get the PWM version.

Other Thoughts: Overall they have excellent build quality. And at low RPM they out perform Noctua and Corsair fans. They have a good amount of SP for push configs. Although I am using these for pull on my radiator, and I use the PWM version to push.
