3 out of 5 eggsoverpriced

Pros: -got on sale
-high airflow

Cons: -Squeaks after only a couple of weeks

Other Thoughts: At the time i was new to building a computer so i just chose a fan that had high air flow and had decent reviews. While this fan worked great for a little while, it was still pretty loud at 100%, but after a couple weeks if i didn't have it at 100% or the lowest setting on my motherboard, it would make a high pitched squeak. I bought this fan because it was supposed to be quiet an get good air flow, now i have to choose between one or the other. I would recommend just buying some cheap fans. later i found a 4 pack for the same price as this one, and they still work just fine and aren't loud at all.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm a Fan of these Fans!

Pros: Extremely Quiet, replaced my stock 120mm with these and I can actually sleep at night! No more jet sounds coming from my computer. CFM is outstanding on these, and you can actually feel the air intake and outtake. Works well with Fan Speed dials that come attached to some of the newer computers, and is still barely audible even at the max setting! Overall, great fans, get them while you can!

Cons: Direction of Airflow label was a bit hard to spot, but I found it after a minute or so

Other Thoughts: SO glad I bought these. The only thing I wish I had done was order more, since the coupon code doesn't work for more than one purchase order.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Fan!

Pros: Nice build quality, nice color, nice price

Cons: no installation directions, not even on website, confusing hardware

Other Thoughts: I recently built my first computer from scratch, and decided to add a second cooling fan to the Cougar brand case I chose. I figured it would be simple to do, but I was befuddled by the lack of screws in the fan's package. There were these odd rubber things that almost looked like they were some strange fastener, or perhaps some sort of vibration deadening device. I checked their website and didn't find any installation directions. Finally, I saw that the case itself came with extra screws for installing fans, and once I found those, the fan was installed in a blink of an eye.

It runs very quiet, and I like the black/orange colors. I didn't want some silly LED thing, BUT I decided to treat myself to at least a tiny amount of snazziness!

5 out of 5 eggsBest fan I ever owned

Pros: *Pushes more air than any other fan I have owned
*Rubber on the corners is reduces the vibration of the fan by a large ammount

Cons: *not the most silent fan I have ever owned.

Other Thoughts: I have had fans that lasted years and fans that lasted days I decided to try 2 of these out that I picked up from a local retailer at 20$ a pop. While I do not feel like I paid a good price these fans are good enough to where I do not feel I got ripped off. I would say a great price for these would be 14$ or less.

Made less noise than my coolermaster fans that were rated at a lower DB and have already outlasted them by a few months.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome fans!

Pros: Cool orange and black color!
Very quiet, in comparison to stock fans and even cooler master fans, especially at high settings.
A lot of air movement!
I like how you can route the power cord between the shroud and screws to keep the cord from dangling in the case.
Works better and quieter than the h80 cooler stock fans!
What else could be better???

Cons: None really. I have one installed horizontally and upon start up, its somewhat noisy but after a few seconds it goes back to whisper quiet. I think that occurs with all fluid bearing fans?? My previous fan sounded like a jet turbine upon start up... Either way, I wouldn't choose a different fan, Cougar RULES!

Other Thoughts: I was skeptical from some of the other reviews and reviews on older versions of these cougar fans. Through my quick research, I found someone that stated a year or two ago, they had a bearing issue but its been resolved. So at the price, i gave them a try. I am very impressed and wish I could have bought more than 5 when they had their sale. I am a new fan of cougar and will be recommending these. Thanks Cougar!

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet premium 120mm Fan

Pros: Quiet fan, no vibration, good airflow.

Got it on sale for 10 buckaroos. PWM untested

Cons: 10$ for a fan.

Other Thoughts: Got it as a replacement for a noisy Corsair H55 Water cooler "quiet edition" it was the noisiest component on my build.

4 out of 5 eggsCOUGAR CF-V12HP review and more!

Pros: I have 6 of these on a RX360 radiator and they're quiet! Even at max RPM(1600 according to my mobo, PWM controlled) they were barely louder than my water pump rated at <25dBA.

They work OK on voltage control. I didn't notice any increased noise.

Overall, it's a nice PWM fan. Very good for low resistance applications. Acceptable performance in push/pull on radiators.

Note: the rest of this review is largely radiator and negative resistance specific.

Cons: Cost. I got mine for $9/ea off newegg on sale, but more than that and these start to become pretty expensive considering I'm running 6 of them. It all depends on how much of an issue noise is to you. There may be other fans out there that perform better with less noise, but I did A LOT of looking and didn't see anything better other than the Gentle Typhoons which are discontinued.

General negative, not limited to these fans: specs can be deceptive. I would recommend not buying any fan solely based off of the MFR listed specs as most are generally tested in an open space without negative pressure or resistance to airflow as you will experience in most real world applications. That's where the static pressure rating of the fan would come in if it were accurate, but from what I've seen from other people's test results these are not the most powerful fan out there.

I wouldn't use these for a radiator unless you're really looking for something quiet and then I would also only run them in push/pull with gasket material as these are not a perfectly square shape. Running gasket on a radiator will also help space the fan away from the rad which is a good thing because it will allow air to flow through the fins more evenly and theoretically reduce how much the fan motor needs to work to get the air to flow.

Other Thoughts: I own various cooler master fans(the cougars are better than all of them) and a 140mm noctua which is really nice if not a bit loud. In my experience the best fan that I've come across in terms of noise/static pressure/cost ratio is the 1650RPM fan made by XSPC. I got them with my 360mm radiator and they are available separately. The reason I'm not running these on my radiator is because XSPC doesn't make PWM fans and my Gigabyte Z87X motherboard doesn't support voltage regulation as a fan control option. They're louder than the cougars but the performance is that much more as well.

Tip: there are forums and websites out there where people have taken it upon themselves to do comparative spec reviews of multiple fans measuring dBA and cooling performance. Check out Martins.
