Question 1

Will this cooler fit LGA 1150? I understood that theoretically all 115x mounts should be identical. But did anyone successfully install it on a Haswell?

I purchased the NH-U9B SE2 along with an intel i4330 (LGA1150) and the Biostar HI-FI Z87X 3D motherboard.

I even contacted Noctua vial email to make sure the cooler was compatible with the Biostar motherboard since they had not listed it on their compatibility list.

They told me I would have no problem.

The bottom line: IT'S NOT THEORY :)

The cooler fits the LGA 1150 socket. If you want more assurance, get it from the horses's mouth. Check out their website: noctua.at and look up the cooler in their products list.

Question 2

First off, will this work with an am3+ socket motherboard?  Second, since this comes with two fans, could I use one on the cooler and the other as a case fan, or do they both need to be on the stack?

I suggest you look at the physical dimensions of the CPU cooler you want then open your case and measure the room you have to make sure the cooler will fit. I could only put the cooler in one orientation in my case.

The air flow in your case needs to be good and taking a fan off the cooler may compromise the cooler's ability to cool your CPU. I would recommend putting a fan on each end of your case in addition to this cooler. Fans are cheap compared to killing a motherboard and since you are choosing a well engineered CPU that is costly your shouldn't skimp on case fans. My case fans are small so I needed more than one. My CPU temps on full load went from around 60 C to around 20 C.

does this work with LGA 1155? I see it is compatible with 1156.

Other things to make sure is whether or not your case design will fit the cooler. I measured with a ruler from the surface of the motherboard each dimension of the cooler and it was pretty close for me. The cooler only fits in one orientation and I had about a 1/2 inch (13cm) clearance on the side of my ATX size case which is quite big.  The cooler also overhangs my RAM slots and is quite close. For my system this fit as described and works great. Good Luck!  John

Can i use this on i5 4690 1155 ASROCK  extreme 6 MOBO?

It comes with the brackets that will fit 1155 boards.  Be warned that this heatsink is HUGE. If your RAM slots are close to the cpu it may block some of them.

Does it come with included thermal paste or thermal paste under the CPU block or whatever its called?

Greetings, I have this motherboard: MSI 760GM-P34 (FX) AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard and I need to know if this cooler is going to fit it or not, my current fan is going out on me and need to replace it, was told this cooler is great but not sure it will fit. My current fan is this: Cooler Master Standard 95W AMD CPU Cooler it came with my comp. I use my comp primarily for gaming and its on most of the day running. Thank you for your time and info. Basicly I need to know if it will fit what I have or do I need to buy a new motherboard?

It's hard to tell not seeing your computer first hand, however I can tell you that you will need at least 5 1/4" clearance from the top of your processor to the case side. The Noctua comes with two (2) fans (they are 1" thick each), so if you use both fans you will need 4 3/4" clearance on the width (3 3/4" if you only use 1 fan), and in the other direction you will need 4".  You can rotate the which way the heat sink/fan sets on your processor, which is nice.

Is there a way to get different color fans for this ? Not sure if the fans are a special size, thickness, or whatever and, honestly, these ones will clash madly with my black/red build.

Have heard great things about everything from Noctua though and look forward to the build.

the noctua fans included in this are standard 92mm fans so you can use any standard 92mm fan as a replacement. i have 3 of these in 3 different computers. i changed the fans on 2 of them to white ones (don't remember the brand) and the clips fit around the fans perfectly. the third PC i left with the noctua fans because it's a rack mount and you can't see the fans' flesh colored ugliness. thats being said they're pretty nice fans.

does this come with three to four pin adapters i cant tell in the picture?

Hi there, no the kit only comes with 3 pin connectors. I was able to install the y-connector to power the fans on my motherboard's 4-pin CPU fan connector.  The fans vary RPM by voltage changes depending on heat on the MB.  Apparently using a 4-pin fan allows quieter operation with PWM fan control. Overall I found this fan kit operated much quieter than the original fan my CPU came with. Have fun building.

Hi Zak, I have the I7 4770k 1150 socket processor and Asus Maximus VI formula mother board.  The heat sink / fan  fit only in the vertical position (fan on bottom and on top blowing upwards) due to RAM interference. This happened to be the way I wanted anyway, however – the clips that hold the fans to the heat sink would not clear the RAM.  I was able to attach the fans quite neatly using 8 Zip ties. I had to find just the right size ties and pass them through the mounting holes in one fan, through the heat sink and out the mounting holes in the other fan. Then cut the ends off the other 4 Zip ties and slide them over the ends of the 4 ties sticking through the fan/ sink assembly. Actually looks nicer than the supplied clips.  Other than RAM clearance there were no other mounting issues.

Will this fit on the AM3+ socket and will it fit in a micro atx case?

My mITX system board Gigabyte F2A88XN-WIFI was listed and has no issue fitting the fan with low profile Radeon memory.

One thing is if you prefer front to rear air flow you should request for free NM-A90 mounting kit.
