5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooling

Pros: The install is not that bad people having issues might have a different setup that might make it difficult. ASUS Z87-PRO LGA 1150 Intel Z87 in a Corsair Obsidian Series Black 550D Mid Tower

Cons: Non so far maybe a bit on the big size

1 out of 5 eggsLove the fans, heatsink and mounting assembly - NO THANKS, tldr: destined for the junk bin

Pros: Fans are best in class. Decent temps, I suppose - comparative to H80I, IMHO much better bang for buck(even with the corsair being more pricey). Quiet. Can be used as a weapon?

Cons: Sheesh where to begin?
Why on earth Noctua decided to use two spring loaded screws with such a poorly thought out bracket system is beyond me. It took multiple attempts because I thought "it can't be this hard" and the instructions are poor, even for a cpu heatsink/cooler. One fold out page is all you get with basically "brackets go this way." Once verified and mounted, I was amazed at just how huge this thing is. Reading /seeing online/in box is one thing.. It literally has 1 mm clearance between it and the acrylic case window it nearly rests against.
Now humongous heatsinks are not a new thing, back in the day I had purchased a massive Zalman heatsink, sans fans which may have been nearly the same weight, but still dwarfed in size by at least a few mm on each dimension.
Ok, so actual performance-wise? With such stunning review score(why mine is so low, fyi, to bring down the ludicrously high average) I thought this thing would be a beast. I thought it would blow away the H80I or even the H100 I had before that. Did it? Not even close. The idle temp is 1-2c below the Corsair. This is after burn-in. After running stress tests for over an hour, still negligible difference on my i7 4790K, 2-3c lower than the corsair.
So while I wouldn't outright call the performance a hands-down "L" or con, the size of the massive beast with two of the best fans in the market leads me to believe the thing was designed/engineered poorly. If not, I would love if someone from Noctua would explain why they need so much surface area to cool only to reach on-par results as a decent closed-loop water cooling setup.
And also, why on earth they haven't upgraded to a decent mounting system. This is not the 90's. Corsair makes it a snap, you can as well Noctua.

Other Thoughts: My recommendation? Stay far away from this product for cpu cooling and buy a Corsair closed-loop system especially if avoiding case space creep and/or difficult installs. I have not tried other brands but have heard good things as well. Noctua has so far let me down in the heatsink department. I will continue to buy their fans and speak nothing but the best of them, in fact the H80I that is going back in this puppy's place will be provided cooling by them. Maybe that's why the reviews are so glowing for this "experiment" in how much space a cpu cooler can take up.

2 out of 5 eggsNoctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

Pros: Great Cooling
OC capable is huge

Cons: For the AMD Crowd this Cooler might be a bust you " HAVE " to have a Backplate for this CPU or you cannot install it period.

Other Thoughts: While this model provides a back plate for the Intel Sockets. Why doesn't they have one for AMD? As of right now I cannot install my New CPU cooler cause I do not have any screws to mount this with my motherboard backplate.

5 out of 5 eggsNext best thing to water cooling

Pros: This is keeping my CPU at 19C at idle after running at 70 % CPU usage for several hours max temp was only at 38C. it was easy to install.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I knew it was big when I picked this out. But I don't think anyone realizes how much of a monster this really is until it arrives. Had to remove the two case fans on the lid of my case to get the lid to close. Covers all the ram slots on my Maximus VIII Ranger mobo so I will have to remove it if I want to add or switch out the ram. But thankfully I did not have to remove the heat spreaders on my GSkill ram for this to fit as I have seen in other comments

5 out of 5 eggsNoctua Performs and Stays Quiet

Pros: We have the "C" version of this cooler which lays flat so that the fans are blowing downwards so they cool the voltage regulators and other components clustered around the cpu. Anyway, it's nearly identical to the "D" version here. For 2 years it has been cooling an old heat monster, namely the ol' 130-watt Core i7-965EE. Set up in an inexpensive Antec 200 case with 2 x 120mm front intake fans spinning at approx. 750rpm (half speed?) and a 120mm rear exhaust fan at 1200rpm, the Noctua keeps the Core i7-965EE cores idling at 32 C. - 36 C. Under load of, say, a full hour of intense gaming the temps. range from 54 C. - 58 C.

Using the L.N.A. adapters slows down the fan speed on the cooler and temps. rise about 3 C. at idle and about 4 C. under the gaming load. However, the Noctua running at full speed is quieter than the exhaust fan and the video card fan so there's no need to use the low-noise adapters.

Cons: Whether you choose the horizontal orientation "C" model or the stand-up "D" model beware of them partially overhanging one or more of your RAM memory slots. Try to choose RAM without tall heat sinks (or use pliers to snip off the top of the protruding heatsink so it fits under the Noctua!)

Other Thoughts: Basically, this full-size Noctua cpu cooler is the gold standard that other brands aspire to, and with good reason. It performs very well and runs very quietly. After 2 years of running 16 to 18 hours per day, our Noctua is as quiet as the day it was installed and cpu temps. are as cool as ever. If you buy a water-cooling cpu cooler that performs as well or better than the Noctua you will find that it probably costs more than the Noctua and is noticeably louder. All this makes the Noctua hard to beat.

5 out of 5 eggsmassive..

Pros: first day opening and I was pleased to see how bug this thing was and that it should have no issue keeping my CPU cool.

Cons: looks to be a bit of a pain to install on top of that it does not give exact instructions and mounting spots for all chipsets..

Other Thoughts: fits my THOR case by rosewill.. but barely fits over my corsair vengeance memory I'm does go over my whole ram expansion slots completely so I would have to remove in order to add more ram. and the clearance on my ram is approx. 1-2 mm which give little wiggle room.

5 out of 5 eggsIts Power, quietness and overkill cooling amuses me. I love it!!!

Pros: Keeps my i5 6600k @1.3v (4.4Ghz) at about 14-16 degrees at idle, 30 degrees in Dolphin Emulator (CPU intensive Emulator) and it wont even touch 50 degrees celsius (Hovers around 45 and 48 degrees) when at full load with Prime95.

Cons: Absolutely Nothing!

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone that likes overclocking over 4.2 Ghz+ or is very skeptical about temperatures.
