5 out of 5 eggsFX8350 Black 4.6ghz

Pros: Amazing cooler. I got my FX 8350 Black edition up to 4.6 ghz on this cooler with max burn temps hovering around 51-56C. After some research I realized that's about the max "safe" temp for that CPU but for air cooling I call that a huge success!

Pros: Quiet
Looks great
Not as heavy as it looks
Plenty of support
Comes with screwdriver to reach the screws while mounting
Customer service is slow but helpful. They are a pretty small German company so getting help can take awhile.

Cons: Cons
This thing is massive. I have a rosewill Armor Evo and it fits rather well.
The mounting bracket does not come with an AMD compatible backplate but I was able to get one from Noctua (I suggest going down to your local computer shop and picking one up for a few bucks or for free)

Other Thoughts: If you want to keep with air cooling this is one of the best coolers you can get!

5 out of 5 eggsQuality

Pros: Quality cooler. For me easy install running at 1300 rpm not to loud.

Cons: Size.

Other Thoughts: I7 4790K MSI gaming 5. The motherboard temps dropped by 10 C no joke must move a lot of air around the base of the unit. Use some good tim you'll love it. I used Tuniq TX 4 magic stuff.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Compatibility with Corsair Ram

Pros: Looks like it might work if it weren't a giant hunk of useless metal and plastic.

Cons: I checked the compatibility on noctua's website for my motherboard and they said the heatsink would fit as long as you removed the heat spreader on higher profile ram with the ASRock Fatal1ty x99x killer. They were very incorrect.

They should have disclaimer on their website telling you to buy very small ram if you want this thing to fit on top of it even with the heatspreader removed as suggested.

Totally worthless to me now.

I got this based a suggestion from a friend that it could do as well as water cooling. Maybe it can if you could ever install it. For now if you want decent cooling stick to a water cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsCost-effective premium air-cooler

Pros: 1. Premium air cooler with many reviews available.
2. Good temps usually allow for overclocking.
3. Excellent mounting (way better than Cooler Master EVO)
4. Noctua fans are premium fans.

Cons: 1. Large air cooler can cover PCIe slot #1 so check Noctua website for motherboard compatibility
2. Large air cooler can make it harder to fit RAM so measure first. I was able to get two very tall Trident X in the outer DIMM slots (2 & 4) but the first DIMM slot is inaccessible if you are planning on filling all four slots.
3. Does not cool as well as D15
4. No PWM - fans are 3 pin

Other Thoughts: Trying to OC a 4790k so ended up sending this back to the Egg for a D15. Biggest difference between the two are the PWM fans on the D15.

5 out of 5 eggsworks perfect

Pros: exceeds expectations

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: too many negative reviews for things that are untrue, from people with "high" tech knowledge. if you are not the most tech savvy and need these reviews to help guide you be sure to do research elsewhere and read professional reviews. fan won't clear memory, it is designed to mount at any height and will clear any memory. must be installed before you install the motherboard, no you only need to install the 2 mounting brackets. one review said that they couldn't plug both fans into the motherboard, use the supplied y connector or get a motherboard that is on the same level as this cooler. get real, if you are extremely overclocking, i mean extreme, then you want and probably have capable components and will have top of the line water cooling. if not this cooler is complete overkill! i love mine and would recommend to everyone. it is big!

5 out of 5 eggsReally BIG

Pros: I bought an i7 4790k, MSI Gaming 5 motherboard, MSI r9 390 8gb video card, and 16gb G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 1600. I actually am not planning on OC'ing the system, but bought the parts because of deals Newegg had going.

This thing seems to keep my stuff cool. I don't play really visually demanding games, but the games I play, I like to max out at 1080p, so I wanted to make sure my computer was cool, especially after my last computer just bit the dust due to the near 100 degree temps we've been having lately.

This was the first ever after-market cooler I bought for any system I've ever owned, so I had no clue how these things were put on. The instructions were simple & straightforward. I could have just used them to put this on, but decided to watch a youtube video on how to do it as well(I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything). I think it took me about 15 mins to put it on or so. Most of that time was spent looking at how HUGE this thing is. You seriously need to check if your case is wide enough for this thing. It barely fits my Xclio Windtunnel.

So yeah, I don't overclock(I may in the future, but would probably need different ram; never overclocked before heh), and don't play any of the really high visually demanding games, but it does keep my system cool I think.

Just checked the LED readout on my Gaming 5 motherboard & it shows about 18-19 degrees celcius, though all I'm doing is typing this review in atm & listening to music online. When I play my games, I check the readout, and the worst I've seen it at is 40 degrees celcius once. Usuaully it peaks around mid 30's. I'm assuming that's the motherboard temp though? I don't even know how to check the CPU temps w/o going into the BIOS. Guess I can Google that heh.

I was worried about the sheer size & weight of this thing warping my board, but it seems to be in there rock solid so far.

So yeah, this thing seems to do the job as far as I can tell. And if a noob like myself can put it on the motherboard in 15 or so minutes, I'm sure you won't have too many problems. :)

Oh, I almost forgot to say, I liked how they designed the box to come apart . Made it easier to pull the Cooler out.

Cons: I'm not taking any eggs off for any of these, but here are my cons.

1) Price - Wished it was cheaper, lol.

2) Clearance over the ram - I *thought* my G.Skill Ripjaws X Series ram would be ok with this cooler, but nope, the fan on the side of it didn't clear it. I'm using 2 sticks in slots 2/4. The fins clear the ram, but the fan doesn't. Not taking an egg because I probably read it wrong, and it was easy to fix by raising the fan up a slight bit(fans are very easy to take out/adjust).

I can't honestly think of any other negative things to say about this thing. It was a little pricy, but very easy to install, even for a noob like myself! The hardest part honestly was trying to figure out how much of that paste to put on, lol.

Other Thoughts: I'm looking to get a video card cooler, so I'll see if Noctua has anything for them.

5 out of 5 eggsHUGE but awesome

Pros: Keeps my i4590k very cool and you literally cannot hear it running. Installation is very easy if you follow the guide. I'm running at 32C under 100% load with Prime95.

Cons: It's absolutely, ridiculously, stupidly big. It's almost comical unboxing it. You MUST look up your motherboard on the Noctua compatibility guide to make sure it fits

Other Thoughts: This thing is absolutely what you want if you value a quiet machine and want to keep your CPU whisper quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Heatsink

Pros: Keeps my CPU 10 degrees cooler than the Hyper212 evo, while being silent 1 meter away.

Backplate is beefy, prevents any and all board warping.
Uses the spring+stop type screw assembly(tighten until it stops turning) so overtightening is impossible.

After the initial testing I pushed my OC a bit further.
My i7-2600k was 78C at 4.0 GHz on the 212, now 75C at 4.5 GHz after running prime95 bland for about 2 hours.

Could probably do more, but my chip needs an uncomfortable amount of voltage beyond 4.5GHz.

Cons: A bit on the heavy side, but it's a big air cooler, that was expected.

Other Thoughts: Has 2 fans, comes with the splitter as well. fan cables are about 12 inches each, with a 3 inch splitter. Can easily reach the fan controller in the back of the Phanteks enthoo primo.

Idles about 3 degrees above case ambient tempurature.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge but silent

Pros: This cooler is very silent, not too hard to install and comes with adequate instructions and mounting hardware.

Cons: Is kind of heavy and fan connectors are not pwm (3 pins). You can still get some pwm fans from Noctua if you wish.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 120 mm liquid cooler ans so far this one beats it by a margin of 10-15% in temps.

I did not get it from newegg.
