Teaming up eleven stator guide vanes with a specially conceived seven blade impeller, the NF-F12's Focused Flow system creates outstanding static pressure and focuses the airflow for superior performance on heatsinks and radiators. At the same time, a wide range of advanced aerodynamic design measures, second generation SSO-Bearings and Noctua's new, custom designed PWM IC for fully automatic control guarantee astounding quietness of operation. The NF-F12 comes with modular cabling, integrated anti-vibration pads and two speed settings for full flexibility. Its commanding performance, exhaustive set of features and Noctua's trusted premium quality make it an elite choice for use on air coolers, radiators and other pressure demanding applications.

  • newegg Focused Flow Frame and Heptaperf Impeller Designed for pressure demanding applications such as heatsinks and radiators, the Focused Flow frame features eleven stator guide vanes that straighten, channel and focus the airflow, which allows the NF-F12 to rival the performance of conventional fans running at much faster speeds. The NF-F12’s stator guide vanes are set out in Varying Angular Distance and feature Vortex-Control Notches. Both measures help to spread the noise emission over a broader frequency spectrum and thus make the fan’s sound pattern more agreeable to the human ear. Custom designed for the new Focused Flow frame and to work in tandem with the eleven stator guide vanes, the NF-F12’s seven blade Heptaperf impeller has been carefully optimized to achieve a perfect balance between power and quietness.
  • newegg Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures Noctua’s Stepped Inlet Design adds turbulence to the influx in order to facilitate the transition from laminar flow to turbulent flow, which reduces tonal intake noise, improves flow attachment and increases suction capacity, especially in space restricted environments. With the tips of the fan blades ploughing through the boundary layer created by the Inner Surface Microstructures, flow separation from the suction side of the blades is significantly suppressed, which results in reduced blade passing noise and improved airflow and pressure efficiency. The Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads made from extra-soft silicone minimize the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard mounting systems and fan clips used on heatsinks.
  • newegg SSO2 Bearing and Metal bearing shell The NF-F12 is the first fan to feature the further optimized second generation of Noctua’s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilization, precision and durability. In order to guarantee the highest possible degree of manufacturing precision, minimum tolerance and excellent long-term stability, the NF-F12 sports a CNC milled bearing shell made entirely from brass.
  • newegg Custom designed PWM IC with SCD Supporting fully automatic PWM speed control, the NF-F12 uses Noctua’s novel, custom designed NE-FD1 PWM IC that integrates Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) technology. By providing smoother torque impulses, SCD suppresses PWM switching noises and thus makes the fan quieter at lower speeds. The NF-F12 is also supplied with a Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 1500 to 1200rpm. The L.N.A can be used either to run the fan at a fixed speed of 1200rpm or to cap the maximum speed when using automatic PWM control.
  • newegg Ultra-Low Power Consumption The NF-F12 draws only 0.6W, which is more than 50% less than many fans in the same speed range. This doesn’t only make it eco-friendly but also cuts down the electricity bill: Compared to a typical 2W fan, this allows you to save about half the price of the NF-F12 after 5 years of continuous use.
  • newegg Extensive Cabling Options The fan’s short 20cm primary cable minimizes cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved and a 4-pin y-cable allows you to connect a second NF-F12 fan to the same PWM fan header for automatic control.

5 out of 5 eggsnoctua nf-f12 pwm 120 mm case fans

Pros: best fan made period... the science behind the fans , the quality of the bearings really set these fans above the rest. extremely quiet fans.

Cons: these fans look ridiculous.except for 1 case thats available out there. see " other thoughts" for explanation. these fans are expensive, you may get sticker shock.

Other Thoughts: the 5 eggs are for one reason only. put these fans in the corsair c70 military green case! get 5 fans. 2 on top of a h100i 240 mm corsair closed loop radiator, 2 behind the front mesh grill , 1 behind the rear mesh grill. you will be rewarded with the perfect combination color scheme. its like the noctuas were invented for the sole purpose to be placed in this case at the specified locations, the noctuas look horrible on any other case. not only does this combo rock, for also shows off that you got the most expensive , and baddest fans on the market blowin your rig down. a win , win.. im eggstatic with the combo of fans and case. i think you will too.

5 out of 5 eggsThey are silent for sure.

Pros: - Nice build quality.
- Accessory's galore.
- Sleeved Cables.
- Best fans out there.

Cons: - Ugly
- Ugly
- Oh and Ugly.

Other Thoughts: I have never had problems with Noctua fans. They just work.
I have always been told that I will get use to the brown and tan colors or that the colors shows that you have serious hardware.... ah.... Sorry... NO. Unless you drive a golden 1970 Gremlin, wear brown bell bottoms, and have shag green carpets in your home, then these fans are for you. Show em off all you want.
I use these fans in my case hidden, inconspicuous or for a replacement in PSU. I can't bring myself to show these off nor do they match anything in, on, and around my builds. That's just me.

5 out of 5 eggsWow Just Wow

Pros: I replaced out my H100 Fans in my Cooler Master Haf X case and needless to say I am blown away. After removing the old fans (extremely dirty) I installed the NF-F12's and my system is whisper quite. I mean this is so quite that I was blown away as well as my girlfriend becasue even she noticed the older fan noise. The air flow is pretty decent but the fans are dead silent at high speed vs the medium speed the old fans were at. It was a night and day difference. I cannot tell you enough to buy these fans no matter the price.

Cons: The color......but really everyone says that I will get over it.

Other Thoughts: AMAZING FANS!

5 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Well known brand name, excellent reviews about it and that is why I bought them, Noctua went over board with this fan, extremely well made, sturdy, solid, not easy to break even for a beginner like me. Really deserves it's reputation as one of the best brand name in fans!

Cons: Doesn't fit in my Cosmos II case because Cosmos uses 3 pins connection and Noctua NF-12 PWM uses 4 pins connection did not know this before I bought them, darn it! But I would not take away an egg for this I should have checked first. Although now I am stuck with 4 fans I don't know what to do with it...any suggestions.

Other Thoughts: I would have still bought them because the reviews about this product is excellent, and it is a well made fan with little extras and today you always appreciate more.

5 out of 5 eggsIt is all that

Pros: I admit it. I almost cheaped out and bought something else. Fair-is-fair and we pay for the packaging when we buy the product. Packaging is exceptional.

I am upgrading a 5+ year old air cooled overclocked system and the price scared me. So I only bought one to replace a standard case fan provided for the exhaust exhaust port. If it worked out, the idea was to replace the fans in the rest of the case with them.

It is positioned about an inch behind and about 3/4 of an inch above the pull fan on the CPU air cooler.

The idea was the fan is pushing through honey comb so static pressure is desirable. It is sucking air from the CPU cooler.

I won't bore you with test results. Running Prime 95 and OCCT the temperature still climbed. Watching the CPU temperature, it fought going up every degree and and when it went to idle the temperature dropped like a rock. That alone made it worth the price.

It did what I paid for it to do. I am buying more for this build and the next one. I have no higher recommendation for any product but that one.

Please see other thoughts

Cons: Not really Cons.

It has no lights and comes in one color scheme fugly. If aesthetics are important to you this fan has no: LEDs; Pretty colors; or, Impressive bling. Ain't no flash here.

If you want a high quality quite cooling fan look no further.

Other Thoughts: Ain't no flash here. What is here is solid quality. The wires are sleeved. The included extension cable is sleeved. You can even use an included cable to reduce the RPM and reduce case noise further.

It is white and brown. It uses either case screws or Silicone thingies for mounting. (My first experience with silicone mounting thingies and they work great. I'm a convert. :-))

First time playing with the Silicone mounting thingies. My fingers couldn't get in there so I used needle nose pliers (scared me silly). The needle nose pliers worked no problems. Took a few tries and thought I'd melted them with my language until I got the hang of it. (On reread - if you have never used them there is a learning curve.)

The Silicone damping / noise reduction pads in the corners are a PIA to remount if you take them off; think threading cooked spaghetti through a hole that is a smidge to small. I figured it out and it is a non-issue now.

The cables are nice. The Y cable is nice. I didn't use the adapter to slow it down so it remains in the box.

It is quite. It works. I am buying two 92 MM ones to replace the CPU cooler fans. I am buying four or five more for another build. I got what I paid for.

Don't think I'll need it but check out the warranty. But nice to know it is a good one and it is there too.

NewEgg got it here when promised in good condition.

A last thought. I used to think a case fan or any other fan is a fan is a fan. Learn from my fail. Forgive my cowardice for avoiding the static air pressure vs. CFM issue.

I am pulling or pushing air through a filter and or honey comb and or a radiator and or a heat sink's fins. A fan has to move air. That is what this fan does for a living and this fan does it well and quietly too.

Cheers all,

5 out of 5 eggs12 Fans Later...Still Cool & Quiet

Pros: So quiet. I have 6 of these in a push/pull configuration on my rad. All running at a constant full speed. Not to mention the other 6 Noctua 140mm fans. A quiet ambient hum coming from all of these. My NZXT Switch 810 case stays really cool, even under heavy 3D rendering!

Cons: Not really.
