Teaming up eleven stator guide vanes with a specially conceived seven blade impeller, the NF-F12's Focused Flow system creates outstanding static pressure and focuses the airflow for superior performance on heatsinks and radiators. At the same time, a wide range of advanced aerodynamic design measures, second generation SSO-Bearings and Noctua's new, custom designed PWM IC for fully automatic control guarantee astounding quietness of operation. The NF-F12 comes with modular cabling, integrated anti-vibration pads and two speed settings for full flexibility. Its commanding performance, exhaustive set of features and Noctua's trusted premium quality make it an elite choice for use on air coolers, radiators and other pressure demanding applications.

  • newegg Focused Flow Frame and Heptaperf Impeller Designed for pressure demanding applications such as heatsinks and radiators, the Focused Flow frame features eleven stator guide vanes that straighten, channel and focus the airflow, which allows the NF-F12 to rival the performance of conventional fans running at much faster speeds. The NF-F12’s stator guide vanes are set out in Varying Angular Distance and feature Vortex-Control Notches. Both measures help to spread the noise emission over a broader frequency spectrum and thus make the fan’s sound pattern more agreeable to the human ear. Custom designed for the new Focused Flow frame and to work in tandem with the eleven stator guide vanes, the NF-F12’s seven blade Heptaperf impeller has been carefully optimized to achieve a perfect balance between power and quietness.
  • newegg Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures Noctua’s Stepped Inlet Design adds turbulence to the influx in order to facilitate the transition from laminar flow to turbulent flow, which reduces tonal intake noise, improves flow attachment and increases suction capacity, especially in space restricted environments. With the tips of the fan blades ploughing through the boundary layer created by the Inner Surface Microstructures, flow separation from the suction side of the blades is significantly suppressed, which results in reduced blade passing noise and improved airflow and pressure efficiency. The Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads made from extra-soft silicone minimize the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard mounting systems and fan clips used on heatsinks.
  • newegg SSO2 Bearing and Metal bearing shell The NF-F12 is the first fan to feature the further optimized second generation of Noctua’s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilization, precision and durability. In order to guarantee the highest possible degree of manufacturing precision, minimum tolerance and excellent long-term stability, the NF-F12 sports a CNC milled bearing shell made entirely from brass.
  • newegg Custom designed PWM IC with SCD Supporting fully automatic PWM speed control, the NF-F12 uses Noctua’s novel, custom designed NE-FD1 PWM IC that integrates Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) technology. By providing smoother torque impulses, SCD suppresses PWM switching noises and thus makes the fan quieter at lower speeds. The NF-F12 is also supplied with a Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 1500 to 1200rpm. The L.N.A can be used either to run the fan at a fixed speed of 1200rpm or to cap the maximum speed when using automatic PWM control.
  • newegg Ultra-Low Power Consumption The NF-F12 draws only 0.6W, which is more than 50% less than many fans in the same speed range. This doesn’t only make it eco-friendly but also cuts down the electricity bill: Compared to a typical 2W fan, this allows you to save about half the price of the NF-F12 after 5 years of continuous use.
  • newegg Extensive Cabling Options The fan’s short 20cm primary cable minimizes cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved and a 4-pin y-cable allows you to connect a second NF-F12 fan to the same PWM fan header for automatic control.

5 out of 5 eggsSo quiet

Pros: - amazingly quiet, running at max rpm they are hardly noticeable, completely silent if not at max rpm
- seriously these things are insanely quiet, it needs another bullet point
- using them to pull through a radiator with great results
- they come with some nice accessories, if i didnt already have a specific mounting points I'd use the rubber grommets and stick them more place
- the packaging and presentation are really top notch, if thats something you notice

Cons: - the colors are horrible, they really need to offer different color choices. Maybe they get a discount on ugly plastic

Other Thoughts: - Absolutely, if you want the best 120mm fan out there GET THIS FAN especially if you need it for static pressure situations
- Eventually I will replace my exhaust fan with one of these, and if I can find a way get rid of my 200mm intake for 2 x 120mm fans I will put them there too.
- it won't really match your computer color scheme unless your computer is made out of wood, but the performance is worth it

5 out of 5 eggsUgly but still the best balance of noise and performance

Pros: Over the years I've tried multiple cheaper fans based on the latest buzz, but I always come back to Noctua. Their fans while ugly, are worth every penny and will last for years if you do a few things to take care of them.

1. Use dust filters on your case. This will cut down on the dust that gathers on the blades and also prevent tiny dust from entering the bearings of the fan itself.

2. Clean your fans and case every few months. Compressed air, vacuum, whatever you want to do to prevent dust from building up on the blades.

3. Use S3 Sleep!!!! Why have your PC on and most importantly, your fans running 24/7/365 when you aren't using it? I've found this is the biggest thing to keep your components in good shape until you are ready to replace them.

On to the fans themselves, the BIGGEST difference I notice is how quiet they are compared to other fans from lesser makes. Its not about an audible fan noise, many fans aren't that loud, but it is also a *LACK* of any audible buzz, variation, whine, basically changes in pitch, whine, or noise while they are operating. Trust me, if you have ever tried the stock fans that come with your water cooler or even some cases, you will know what I am talking about.

Generally, your case/build will be as loud as the loudest and most annoying fan, so spending extra on these is worth it imo.

Another major plus of these fans is they come with about $10 worth of accessories. They have a really high quality 4-pin extension cable that you can use with other fans if you don't need them for this. They also have a nice Y-splitter and molex to 4-pin connector as well as rubber silencing plugs that you can use on other fans. All of these are excellent additional parts that would cost you $2-3 each at least if you bought them separately so keep that in mind when considering price.

Cons: -Price, but I don't consider this a negative anymore. You can buy 2 or more fans for the price of 1 of these, but they are not going to be as good, you'll just end up dissatisfied and wish you paid more. I have 4 Corsair aftermarket fans (I love Corsair btw) that are gathering dust because I wasn't happy with them, and another 4-6 more that came with my radiators that are just way too loud with noisy bearings (noise variance, almost buzzing).

Other Thoughts: Back in the day I bought some NF-P12s with a TRUE to keep my i7 920 cool and guess what? I am still using those NF-P12s today on my H105. I bought 2 more F12s for the radiator and recently bought 2 more F12s for some hybrid GPU coolers after messing around with other brands. Wish I just bought more Noctuas from the start.

Also wish Noctua made some different colors. The Black Industrial ones are just too loud, even with fan control they start whining if you drop the RPM. The Grey ones don't have 120mm versions, so I had to settle on the ugly beige ones. But hey, my sanity is back as they are sooooo quiet I missed that buzz the whole time I was using Corsair Air Series LED fans and they push more air too!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGood product. Relatively intuitive to install.

Pros: Cool and blissfully quiet

Cons: When installing this with the rubber plugs, it can be challenging to pull the plugs through the holes. I was able to do most with my fingers, had a couple I used long-nose plyers for. It took some imagination and I tore one of the rubber-plugs during my attempts.

Other Thoughts: When using your hands, don't be afraid to pull hard and get them through the holes on the fan. For small holes on the case, use pressure on the back of the rubber-plug while pulling and turning the front. You can jimmy it into any hole a fan-screw would fit into.

2 out of 5 eggsWhines above 900 rpm

Pros: Solid motor. Motor itself is silent.

Cons: Loud, high pitched turbulent blade noise above 900 rpm that is intolerable to me. The Hyper 212 Evo fan is smoother at higher RPM (although it has motor noise issues that this Noctua doesn't have). This is just a cheap blade design compared to another fan like the NF-S12A which is smooth at full RPM.

Other Thoughts: Linus failed me.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Fans, ugly looks

Pros: great performance, high mm-H20, good CFM, cool design / tech in fan blade and housing

Cons: ugly color scheme

Other Thoughts: I have 1 of this fan inside my computer. I have owned 5 different fans. GELID FN series, corsair performance Pressure series, corsair standard, ENERMAX MAGMA, Noctua NF-F12, and Cougar CF-V12HP.
The cougars are my current favorite. I originally bought this fan to test it out on my CPU cooler when I upgraded my computer. My new CPU cooler is the H100i GTX. I had wanted to put a push pull on half the cooler but do to mobo height and case size there was not room. So I am using the Noctua as an intake fan at the bottom of the case. It is pulling air through a filter so its strong pressure profile should help it get air into my case. My case is a Corsair 550D. As far as I can tell its very quiet, its a competitions for quietness between the Noctua and the Cougars. The cougars win in terms of looks. The Noctua fan claims quiet sound profile, and good air pressure performance.
The loudest fans are the Corsair P120's. I have all my fans running at 1000rpm. At that speed all is silent.
I would love to do formal testing with all my fans testing CFM and pressure. If I ever find the time I would create a test rig to do this.

5 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised

Pros: -Very quiet
-Move plenty of air
-I don't dislike the color scheme like most people seem to

Cons: -None, it's worth the price for a premium fan with adapters, extensions, rubber grommets and a 6 year warranty

Other Thoughts: I was initially a bit skeptical upon purchasing this fan. I wondered, "How quiet can a fan really be and still move air?" Once I installed this to replace the stock fan on my Cooler Master Hyper T4, I cranked the fan all the way up (with the low noise adapter installed) and I wasn't sure it was on, at first. I put my ear right up next to it with the case side panel off and it was on, just very quiet. I experienced a drop in temperatures under OCCT stress test by about 7 degrees Celsius and a HUGE noise difference. If you're looking for quiet performance fans, this is the way to go.

5 out of 5 eggsnoctua fans

Pros: Quality every place you look at, from packaging to the accesories and the fan, you get what you pay for. I have 18 of these in a 900D running full speed and can barrely hear them. The color for some ppl is the most bad choice it can be but I don't mind the color, after a while I start to like them :)

Cons: Cons, not getting them on sale nothing else I can think of

5 out of 5 eggsWow, whisper quiet fan

Pros: Quiet, easy to install.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I brought 2 of these, one to replace the stock fan on the Coolermaster Hyper212 Heatsink and for one of my fans in my Coolermaster case. My fans are the stock fans that came with the case and it is not loud by any means, but I am astonished how quiet these fans are. Highly recommend. I may purchase one more since I noticed one of my fans in my case stopped working.

5 out of 5 eggsI don't usually write reviews...

Pros: Obviously quiet, but also on my h100i gtx the temps are about the same with these fans as it was with the stock fans.

Cons: I mean honestly what an ugly color.

Other Thoughts: I recently upgraded my whole system to a new Skylake build and decided to use a Corsair H100i gtx for my cooler. The cooler is great, but while gaming or running benchmarks the fan would get so loud it was honestly distracting. This is also while using a NZXT case with sound dampening material that helps quiet the whole thing down. Did a little research which lead me to these fans as possible replacements. I don't see any difference is temperature, which is great since the cooler was already doing a great job, but the difference is sound is HUGE!!!

I have ran plenty of benchmarks since the install and a few CPU stress test to see how loud these fans would get. When they do speed up it's just a little low hum, solid white noise... Not the vacuum cleaner sound of the old fans. I can't speak for installing these as just case fans using the rubber adaptor or screws.

And honestly... I don't have understand the color choice.. Not even joking.
