Teaming up eleven stator guide vanes with a specially conceived seven blade impeller, the NF-F12's Focused Flow system creates outstanding static pressure and focuses the airflow for superior performance on heatsinks and radiators. At the same time, a wide range of advanced aerodynamic design measures, second generation SSO-Bearings and Noctua's new, custom designed PWM IC for fully automatic control guarantee astounding quietness of operation. The NF-F12 comes with modular cabling, integrated anti-vibration pads and two speed settings for full flexibility. Its commanding performance, exhaustive set of features and Noctua's trusted premium quality make it an elite choice for use on air coolers, radiators and other pressure demanding applications.

  • newegg Focused Flow Frame and Heptaperf Impeller Designed for pressure demanding applications such as heatsinks and radiators, the Focused Flow frame features eleven stator guide vanes that straighten, channel and focus the airflow, which allows the NF-F12 to rival the performance of conventional fans running at much faster speeds. The NF-F12’s stator guide vanes are set out in Varying Angular Distance and feature Vortex-Control Notches. Both measures help to spread the noise emission over a broader frequency spectrum and thus make the fan’s sound pattern more agreeable to the human ear. Custom designed for the new Focused Flow frame and to work in tandem with the eleven stator guide vanes, the NF-F12’s seven blade Heptaperf impeller has been carefully optimized to achieve a perfect balance between power and quietness.
  • newegg Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures Noctua’s Stepped Inlet Design adds turbulence to the influx in order to facilitate the transition from laminar flow to turbulent flow, which reduces tonal intake noise, improves flow attachment and increases suction capacity, especially in space restricted environments. With the tips of the fan blades ploughing through the boundary layer created by the Inner Surface Microstructures, flow separation from the suction side of the blades is significantly suppressed, which results in reduced blade passing noise and improved airflow and pressure efficiency. The Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads made from extra-soft silicone minimize the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard mounting systems and fan clips used on heatsinks.
  • newegg SSO2 Bearing and Metal bearing shell The NF-F12 is the first fan to feature the further optimized second generation of Noctua’s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilization, precision and durability. In order to guarantee the highest possible degree of manufacturing precision, minimum tolerance and excellent long-term stability, the NF-F12 sports a CNC milled bearing shell made entirely from brass.
  • newegg Custom designed PWM IC with SCD Supporting fully automatic PWM speed control, the NF-F12 uses Noctua’s novel, custom designed NE-FD1 PWM IC that integrates Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) technology. By providing smoother torque impulses, SCD suppresses PWM switching noises and thus makes the fan quieter at lower speeds. The NF-F12 is also supplied with a Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 1500 to 1200rpm. The L.N.A can be used either to run the fan at a fixed speed of 1200rpm or to cap the maximum speed when using automatic PWM control.
  • newegg Ultra-Low Power Consumption The NF-F12 draws only 0.6W, which is more than 50% less than many fans in the same speed range. This doesn’t only make it eco-friendly but also cuts down the electricity bill: Compared to a typical 2W fan, this allows you to save about half the price of the NF-F12 after 5 years of continuous use.
  • newegg Extensive Cabling Options The fan’s short 20cm primary cable minimizes cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved and a 4-pin y-cable allows you to connect a second NF-F12 fan to the same PWM fan header for automatic control.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Well

Pros: I bought this based on the good reviews. So, I figured that I'd add to those good reviews. ;)

My old CPU fan started gumming up, leading the CPU to overheat, of course. Time for a replacement.

It'a a solid and well-designed fan.

Cons: None so far. Had it for 5 months as of the date of this review.

5 out of 5 eggsBelieve the hype!

Pros: This fan is as bad to the bone as people say it is and here's why.

1. Quiet and I mean you have to put your ear to the fan to hear it on low and on high you can hear it i'll admit that but its not a whining noise like others when they spin up

2. Very VERY well built. These guys know what they are doing when it comes to fans they are somewhat heavier than my SP120L's but they have rubber feet on both sides where you mount the screws and you can see they hardware you are working with are in a whole other league.

3. Airflow and honestly this is one of the big ones cause that's what matters am I right? It can be dead silent but if it moves no air its useless but these fans stand and deliver when it comes to air flow. These bad boys put out better airflow than my H100i stock fans easily.

4. Warrenty: these fans come with a (I believe its 5 or 6 years)warrenty.

Cons: Of course they are not perfect and here's some of the problems I have with them.

1. Price is the biggest con due to them being twice the price of a SP120 Quiet. I've noticed its turned off a lot of people when it comes to the price.

2. Color scheme: Now I know they have come out with other varients of colors, but they are not for the same fan. There are black one's but they are for the HEAVY DUTY/HIGH NOISE/AIRFLOW model that acts like its gonna fly away like a Delta fan. If they released different colors that would help a lot. I understand why they do this however its so when someone looks at your rig they will look at that fan and the first word that would come to mind would be "Noctua".

I'm sitting here thinking of anything else and nothing's comming up. :(

Other Thoughts: These fans rock the house for radiator fans thats all there is to it.
I have not owned them long but I am giving my honest opinion about them since I owned them.

I have a H100i on a Sabertooth 990fx and a AMD FX 8350 and the stock fans suck guys that's all there is to it. Running them on a fan controller to help with noise cause their performance to drop drastically. I did the same thing with the Noctua fans and did not have that problem. They cool my pc on low at idle around 36C when the stock fans would get close to 50C

The color scheme and price seem like a turn of till you run them in your case.

Let's put it this way if they cool better than any other fan out there then they could be purple with glitter on them.

Will update review in a month to give my final opinion.

TL:DR? These fans rock and if you can afford them GET THEM!!

3 out of 5 eggs"No Free Lunch"

Pros: Quiet; long life due to SSO2 bearing.

Cons: Low air flow.

Other Thoughts: Integrated within a full Noctua cooling system,
this fan may work very well. But, as a standalone
CPU fan, its performance was pretty wimpy, even at
maximum RPM. It did not even put out as much air
as my stock fan, which I was attempting to upgrade.

It would thus appear that there is "no free lunch"
with regard to fans. If you want high air flow,
you need to put up with a certain amount of noise
(e.g., an Ultra Kaze or Delta fan).

I agree with other reviewers that the packaging was
luxurious, and this may reflect Noctua's attention
to detail. Their cooling systems as a whole do get
great reviews.

So, I assigned three stars as a kind of compromise:
really 1 star for my situation, but perhaps 5 stars
in other situations.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Funky Fan

Pros: So, I decided to get the NF-F12 as it is designed to work more on a radiator or in my case a heat-sink. I am using a ProlimaTech Samuel 17 heat-sink on an i7-3770K. I switched the fan from a GeLID, which worked well, but I was curious. I installed the NF-F12 and powered-up, nice and quiet, as I expected. But, what I didn't expect was the CPU temp to drop +/- 7C at idle. I'm not overclocking, my goal is just to preserve the CPU. No matter what hyperbole is written, all long-term heat degrades anything that is silicon based. Well, now I have 2 funky fans and they are sturdy and well balanced, reminding me of a Grundig radio from the '70's.

Cons: Not yet, in my experience.

5 out of 5 eggsEasily the best fans out there

Pros: I have 6 of the Noctua re-deux edition ( gray in color ) in my case and 2 of the industrial spec. black Noctua fans . At 80% with the side off the case I can barely hear them from 1 1/2 -2 feet . Understand that the black fans on my heat since push 160 cfm per fan
(compared to a good quiet average 140mm fan that will only push 40-50 cfm of air) . Ultra quite .
So how well do they cool ? along with almost silence I am running my 4790k @ 4.5ghz with max burn in temp on all cores not to exceed 52-54 degrees C. Idles at 27-29 degrees C , Normal operation ( photoshop ect ) 40-45 degrees C . Max overclock I am able to sustain is 4.8 ghz @ 1.32 volts , at this speed after 1 hour of burn in the temps never exceeded 61 degrees on any of the cores. I dont need to overclock this processor so I run it at stock 4.0/4.4 ghz at (undervolted) 1.151Volts . Nice to know I have the headroom in the cooling department , thanks to the fans . I don't think there is a all in 1 water cooling system that can touch a well thought out air cooling system with Noctua fans. Hopefully Newegg will start carrying the re-deux and professional lines of Noctua fans soon. Buy a Noctua fan once and that will be the only fan you will but again .

Cons: color

Other Thoughts: Black and gray fans available from Noctua ,

5 out of 5 eggsSo quiet I forget about it

Pros: Super quiet, moves a good deal of air, has every connector you'd ever want or need. What can I say, this is a premium product and has everything you need.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Running water cooling with one of these - I've never seen or heard the fan spin up because of heat. A stealthy fan indeed, it will make you wonder if it's working.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Two of these fans on my hyper212 evo cooled my cpu down by 8c playing bf4 my max temp is 48.

Cons: I had to go into my bios to and set fans to 100% and disable cNq but thats not that big a deal should of already been done.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: -Quiet
-CPU temps are 10C lower
-Great packaging and addons, you can really tell that it's a quality product when you take it out of the box

Cons: - Some people might not like the colour scheme

Other Thoughts: Used this to replace the noisy under-performing fan that came with my Hyper 212+. The cost is worth it.
