Designed and optimized for Intel LGA115x processor with not more than 65W TDP, the Noctua NH-L9i is a premium grade CPU cooler that delivers excellent cooling capacity and quiet operation in an ultra compact package. Measuring only 37mm in height, this cooler flawlessly fits most HTPCs and small factor form systems, and the 95 x 95mm footprint means it will not even block the first RAM slot and the closest PCIe slot on mini-ITX motherboard. The highly efficient NF-A9x14 fan supports fully automatic speed control via PWM. A Low-Noise-Adaptor can be used when necessary, to reduce maximum fan speed from 2500 to 1800rpm. And with the solid, easy-to-use SecuFirm2 mounting system plus renowned NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-L9i fuses everything users have come to expect from Noctua’s larger coolers into a super-compact package.

Caution: Caution: The NH-L9i is a highly-compact low-profile quiet cooler designed for use in small form factor cases and HTPC environments. While it provides first rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and should be used with care on CPUs with more than 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power).

37mm Low Profile

General information

Due to the slim 23mm heatsink and the NF-A9x14 low profile fan that measures only 14mm in thickness, the NH-L9 stands a mere 37mm tall, which makes it ideal for use in compact HTPCs or Small Form Factor cases that offer minimum clearance for CPU coolers.

100% RAM Compatibility

General information

The NH-L9i has a 95x95mm footprint that complies exactly to the Intel LGA115x socket keep-out zone. This means that it won’t cause issues with chipset coolers and doesn’t overhang the RAM slots, so it’s fully compatible with tall memory modules.

100% Compatibility with PCIe Cards on mini-ITX

General information

Most Intel LGA115x based mini-ITX mainboards have the PCIe slot sitting right next to the 95x95mm socket zone. While larger coolers that exceed this zone are likely to block the PCIe slot, the 95x95xmm sized NH-L9i provides full compatibility with PCIe cards.

NF-A9x14 PWM Premium Fan

General information

The highly optimized NF-A9x14 premium fan features Noctua’s exclusive AAO frame as well as sophisticated aerodynamic design measures. Supporting PWM for fully automatic speed control, the NF-A9x14 allows the NH-L9i to stay remarkably quiet.

Low-Noise Adaptor

General information

Allowing reducing the maximum speed of the NF-A9x14 fan from 2500 to 1800rpm, the included Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) makes it possible to achieve near-silent setups using CPUs with less than 65W TDP.

Custom-Designed SecuFirm2 Mounting for LGA115x

General information

The NH-L9i bundles a custom-designed, backplate-less SecuFirm2 mounting system for LGA115x that offers extended compatibility with mini-ITX boards and makes installation easier than ever, all while maintaining the trusted SecuFirm2 quality.

NT-H1 Thermal Compound

General information

Noctua’s much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a well proven pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Contains High quality parts. Pretty heavy.
Has extra screws if you want to install a larger 92x25mm fan, rather than have the A9x14mm fan.
Comes with plenty of Thermal Compound NT-H1.
Comes with an L.N.A. which attaches to the fan cable, and slows the fan speed to reduce noise.

Cons: must be installed directly to the motherboard. Unlike most that have an adapter you connect to the back of the motherboard, this screws directly to it. Not at all a deal breaker. It just makes removal a little more difficult.

Other Thoughts: This thing is built sturdy. No cheap parts on it. It feels like it was built to last. Almost like only engineers made it, without the uncesseasy input from some Marketing guy who wants it to "look cool"

2 out of 5 eggsGood for low end cpu. Do not meet expectation

Pros: Noctua makes the best fan ever, no doubt on that, l. Build quality is flawless and Noctua packaging is like sending british crown jewels, awesome !! Very low noise.

Cons: Actually, I got a low power Xeon e3 1265l of 45w, and when load is about 80% when compressing or doing big things on my computer, cpu temperature didn't stop to raise near 90c. Not happy. If I can't use my computer without always monitoring, this cpu cooler hasn't it's place in my computer, I asked for refund.

Other Thoughts: Probably good for I3, pentium and celeron nothing more. Stock cooler does the same. This thing is built 1/4 of inch above the motherboard, it would need more space to exhaust hot air. I got better results reversing the fan, sucking instead os pushing, lower the overall temps of 3-4C and it took a bit longer the raise... Bad cooler design.

2 out of 5 eggsCools the same as stock Intel heat sink

Pros: Fits well for mini ITX builds. Doesn't go beyond the square footprint around the cpu.

Cons: On Intel 4790K processor, idle temps in 40-50C range and 60-70C+ under load. For a premium cooler I was expecting better performance. The Noctua performed about the same as stock. I returned mine and got a Corsair H60 liquid cooler instead which is idling in the 20's and under load in the 40's & 50's. Much more to my liking. Much harder to fit in a mini ITX, but it was with
worth it.

3 out of 5 eggsBad fan

Pros: Small. Works.

Cons: Fan making grinding noise after 3 months of 24/7 use. Noctua's RMA process is.... well.... it could be easier.

Other Thoughts: Nice HSF overall. Probably easier for me to buy a new fan vs jump through Noctua's hoops.

3 out of 5 eggsWant to Love it but...

Pros: Really good build quality
Great packaging
Great thermal paste
Great size

Cons: Unfortunately, it just doesn't perform near as well as I expected (i7-3770). The online reviews that have done real thermal tests also conclude that it's barely cooler than a stock Intel fan. Luckily I plan to re-use the fan and have some thermal paste left but I had to switch this out for something that keeps cooler.

Other Thoughts: I wanted so badly to love this product-- it has everything going for it except that it doesn't cool very well. That's a major problem for a CPU fan! I'm still impressed with build quality etc but I simply can't overlook the performance.

5 out of 5 eggsDoing the Job

Pros: Works,no problems,I am happy with my purchase.

Cons: Just 1 con,the amount of thermal paste they give you is only enough for 1 application was hoping for more :(

Other Thoughts: Love the quality of the item.

Really wish Noctua made 230mm fans.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what the doctor ordered.

Pros: Highly effective, quiet, reasonably priced

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: After struggling to find a cooler that would be compatible with my Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced case while being effective enough to cool a 4770k in a cramped environment I settled on this little guy. I have been very impressed with its ability to cool while maintaining relative silence. Even slightly overclocked my processor remains cool.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat little cooler

Pros: Small, quiet, extremely well built, nice finish and packaging

Cons: none-- it does what it's supposed to do

Other Thoughts: I needed a cooler with a very small footprint for my small mini-itx build, and this was the best fit. Had an installation question and contacted Noctua customer support, and they responded immediately and were very helpful!

5 out of 5 eggsElegant and amazing

Pros: My first Noctua HSF. I wish they would make water coolers. I need water cooling on my primary desktop, but would love to run all Noctua coolers in all of my systems, based on my experience with this one alone. The packaging probably adds to the price of the unit, but when you open the box, you will be wowed. Elegant, professional. The unit itself is heavy (stout) and much thinner than I imagined. Left me more room in my Silverstone case than I had thought.

Cons: Price. But you get what you pay for. Certainly not worth knocking an egg off.

Other Thoughts: Replaced a stock Intel HSF on an I7-2600k. Running at stock speeds (for now). Idle temps stayed the same. Under load, stock HSF ran 42C, the Noctua runs 32C. Both fans were run at max (gonna play with BIOS settings if and when I try to overclock) and the Noctua is quieter (but not silent, obviously, at max speed). Would buy again, in fact, I may replace all the coolers in my SFF mITX systems with this one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat small form factor

Pros: Small form factor
simple square shape
only 37mm high including fan
great air flow for a fan thats 120mm
very quiet fan
noctua quality build

Cons: pulls air in and you need to purchase other screws to invert the fan
works better for 65 watt cpus
doesn't handle heat as well as a more beefed up noctua

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this unless you run into the problem where the heat sink air flow gets boxed by the ram , the gpu and motherboard heat sink which defeats the purpose of the cooling the cpu
