The NF-A9x14 features Noctua’s AAO frame and sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, so it is a highly optimised, premium quality quiet fan in 92x14mm size. Due to its thickness of only 14mm, the NF-A9x14 is a perfect match for low profile CPU coolers and all other applications that require slimmer fans. Noctua’s custom-designed PWM IC for fully automatic speed control and reference class SSO2 bearings guarantee superb running smoothness and excellent long-term stability. Topped off with modular cabling, and a Low-Noise Adaptor, the NF-A9x14 is a premium choice for the highest demands.

  • newegg 14mm Low Profile Design Measuring only 14mm in thickness, the NF-A9x14 is much slimmer than standard 92x25mm fans. This makes it ideal for all applications where standard fans would take up too much space, such as low profile CPU coolers in HTPC builds or server environments.
  • newegg Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads made from extra-soft silicone minimise the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard mounting systems and fan clips used on heatsinks.
  • newegg Low-Noise Adaptor The NF-A9x14 is supplied with a Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 2200 to 1700rpm. The L.N.A can be used either to run the fan at a fixed speed of 1200rpm or to cap the maximum speed when using automatic PWM control.
  • newegg SSO2 Bearing The NF-A6x25 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua’s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.
  • newegg Custom designed PWM IC with SCD Supporting fully automatic PWM speed control, the NF-A9x14 uses Noctua’s novel, custom designed NE-FD1 PWM IC that integrates Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) technology. By providing smoother torque impulses, SCD suppresses PWM switching noises and thus makes the fan quieter at lower speeds.
  • newegg Extensive Cabling Options The fan’s short 20cm primary cable minimises cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved and the supplied 3:4 pin adaptor allows to connect the fan directly to the power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect balance of air movement and low noise!

Pros: I have two of these setup in a push/pull on my old Noctua CPU cooler. The two of them together move a good amount of air and are almost dead silent. This model is thin so that it clears the RAM in front of my CPU cooler, a thicker fan would not fit. Your results will all depend on your mobo layout and CPU cooler of course. So nice to finally have silent cooling on an overclocked CPU (currently 4790K @4.4GHz).

Cons: Just a hair expensive. But then again it's a high quality fan that comes with accessories.

Other Thoughts: Comes nicely boxed!

4 out of 5 eggsvery quiet

Pros: way more quiet than the fan that came on my cooler master tx3, slim so its easier to fit my hands between parts

Cons: louder than I was expecting by videos on the internet lead me to believe

Other Thoughts: deffinately would recommend this, I'm gona get some 120mm's to replace my case fans soon should make it overall a lot more quiet

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent fan for tight spaces

Pros: Low-profile enough to fit on top of a video card heatsink. It is able to pull in air even though it's sandwiched between two video cards. In such application performs very comparably to the normal-profile version.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm incredibly well surprised by these Noctua fans.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Quiet 92mm PWM fan

Pros: Low noise, low profile
Silicon corner pads
No PWM "churning" noice.

Cons: Could they offer just the fan for $5 less?

Other Thoughts: I would never try to cool my 125W TDP FX-8350 with this fan. I got a 212 EVO for that right away. However, the 8350's cooler with this fan mounted on top of it does a real nice job on a mini-itx HTPC build with a 45W TDP A8-7600 APU.
Noctura's custom PWM IC suppresses the annoying PWM "churning" noise that other fans I tried had.

2 out of 5 eggsNo static pressure

Pros: Quiet fan, great build quality.

Cons: This fan sacrifices a lot of the sake of being low profile. I didn't need a low profile fan, but because it was by Noctua, I didn't think performance would disappoint. I was wrong. I used this fan to replace the default fan on a Zalman CPU cooler. I cut the fan out of its frame and did a great installation on the heatsink (which isn't designed to have the fan replaced), minimizing turbulence and noise, as I had intended to do. However, even at max RPMs these shallow blades face considerable difficulty pushing any air through the heatsink. My temperatures at load on an 8350 have reached as high as 73C in an ambient temperature of 20C.

As you may or may not know, AMD recommends keeping load temps below 62C. Therefore, this fan is NOT working in this application at all.

Other Thoughts: Unless you absolutely need a low profile fan, and you have no resistance in your application (heatsink, heavy fan grill, maybe even a dust filter!), avoid at all costs.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Fan

Pros: Worked for long enough for NewEgg to wash their hands of it

Cons: Started making a loud, incredibly obnoxious whirring noise almost exactly one month after, making it impossible for me to return to NewEgg using my ShopRunner free shipping, but unrealistic due to shipping prices to return to Noctua.

Other Thoughts: Wow, I hear nothing but good things about Noctua fans, yet this is the loudest, worst fan I have ever owned by far. Never ever had an experience like this with any fan before through 30+ computer builds.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Fan..

Pros: Build Quality
It's a Noctua...

Cons: Pricey!
Slight noise with this one...

Other Thoughts: I used this to replace a loud video card fan on my 7790. I use a lot of Noctua fans becuase I have never gotten one that made any strange noise. This was the first one that I heard a light scrubbing sound from. This seems to be more common with the thinner smaller fans I have been getting lately. The sound is barely heard unless up close so I only docked on egg. The other two 120mm Noctua fans I got have almost zero motor noise. Truly amazing fans. I have run a lot of the other Quiet brands out there and they are always hit or miss if I get a fan without some sort of strange noise. Noctua build quality is top notch.
