The NF-A4x10 FLX features advanced aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels and Noctua’s AAO frame, which make it a highly optimised, premium quality quiet fan in 40x10mm size. Smooth Commutation Drive technology and Noctua’s reference class SSO2 bearings guarantee superb running smoothness and excellent long-term stability. Topped off with modular cabling, a Low-Noise Adaptor and OmniJoin Adaptor Set, the NF-A4x10 is a premium choice for the highest demands.

  • newegg Designed to cool The NF-A4x10 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels to reduce suction side flow separation for better efficiency and lower vortex noise. The reduced motor hub size allows for more blade surface area and thus contributes to the NF-A4x10’s superior airflow and pressure performance.
  • newegg Cools quietly Noctua’s AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua’s unique Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan’s performance/noise efficiency. The Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) is supplied to reduce the maximum fan speed from 4500 to 3700rpm so that it can be fine-tuned for superior airflow or maximum quietness. And the latest version of Noctua’s advanced Smooth Commutation Drive system ensures superb running smoothness by eliminating torque variations and switching noises.
  • newegg SSO2 Bearing The NF-A4x10 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua’s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.
  • newegg 3 to 2-pin Adaptor and Polarity Protection The NF-A4x10 comes with an adaptor from 3-pin Molex to the 2-pin connectors used on many graphics cards or network and storage devices. An integrated diode provides polarity protection on 2-pin connections.
  • newegg OmniJoin Adaptor Set Many devices featuring 40mm fans use proprietary fan headers, so the NF-A4x10 comes with Noctua’s OmniJoin Adaptor Set. Just cut the original fan’s cable, fix it to the adaptor using the supplied 3M Scotchlok connectors and you can plug the NF-A4x10 to proprietary fan headers!
  • newegg Extensive Cabling Options The fan’s short 20cm primary cable minimises cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat!

Pros: They are very quiet fans, and they come with a bunch of additional parts.

The extension cable is just that.

The low noise adapter is very useful, and adds a slight amount of length to the fan cable.

The two pin adapter is for some specific 2 pin pin headers. Personally I used this adapter and removed the existing connector and replaced it with the 2 pin connector I needed. I had the needed connectors and pins and crimper already.

There is also a 2 wire adapter that you have to splice to your existing connector. I did not use this as does not look as nice.

I used 2 fans in a older model D-Link DGS-1024D that had two fans (current models are fanless). In my quiet living room, I needed the low noise adapters as my little IKEA RAST rack would amplify the noise. But after installing the low noise adapter the switch still stays cool and I can no longer hear it.

I personally used the fan screws instead of the special vibration reducing things, as I added fan grills (I modified the case).

Cons: None found so far.

Other Thoughts: I purchased two of these from another retailer, but they are great.

I've had them for about 2 months, so I cannot say what the lifespan is.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fairly quiet for a 40mm fan, easy to install with noctua's wonderful included anti vibration mounts.

Cons: WAY too much packaging?? Same size box as noctua's 120mm fans and 90% of it ends up being air, come on guys, save a tree!

Other Thoughts: Installed in a "fanless" pfSense router / firewall as an emergency measure set to turn on at max temp to ensure continued operation under high temperatures (in case of air conditioning failure, etc).

5 out of 5 eggsReally silent for HP Procurve Switch

Pros: Had installed two of thoses inside an HP procurve 24 port switch to make it "office" compilent instead of "server room" compilent. The switch is now cold to the touch with just a little airflow thoses fan produces and they are totally inaudible.

I have tested also
EVERCOOL FAN-EC4010M12CA 40mm Case Cooling Fan
SUNON HA40201V4-0000C-C99 40mm Case cooler

This fan is the best purshased you can make out of thoses 3. The evercool sounds really cheap, feel like the bearing will not last long. The sunon is too expensive for nothing, i could make it work very well with the noctua and the noctua is the more silent of the 3 fans, connected directly to the board (without low noise adapters).

Cons: There is WAY too much packaging for what i like. I disagree using over packaged items, it's not green at all. It's only a fan, just a simple box with items trowed in it would had been enough!

Other Thoughts: Well see if it will last over time but running at slow speed (about 6-7v) i do believe it will last long.

5 out of 5 eggsA new bar for quality

Pros: Correct size I needed, 40x10mm. Superior quality packaging, with every conceivable connector. Fan is very quiet. Mounted well even in my uncommon situation.

Cons: Doesn't push as much air as the fan it replaced, but it doesn't generate 1/10th the noise either. A fair trade for me in the device it was placed as I'm not putting an enterprise load on the switch.

Tad expensive.

Other Thoughts: Used this to replace a fan in an expensive enterprise switch I bought used. Had to transpose the red and black wires on the 3-pin connector, and it works great. While not moving as much air across the PSU of the switch as the previous fan, it has a much better bearing instead of a sleeve, and is very quiet. Plus, there are four other 40mm fans of various depths helping to keep the PoE switch cool. Very awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsThese Little Fans Push Lots Of Air

Pros: I have an Corsair Obsidian 450D Case. It has a meshed air vent in the back of the case on the lower left hand side next to the windowed cover. The vent is 40mm across. These fans are 40mm. The holes in the vent are the perfect size to fit fan screws and the spacing is correct. Anyway, on a hunch, I purchased two of these to mount in my case on the inside of the 40mm wide air vent. They fit perfect and boy do they pump air. The two of these feel like they pump a considerably greater amount of air out of my case than the 120mm exhaust fan mounted above these in the back of the case. I'm not kidding. They are also right next to my GPU which is now running at 26°c. which is quite cool. They are almost totally silent. The 3 pin connectors were great because all I had to do was plug them directly into the 3 pin fan slots at the bottom of my motherboard. The cables are black and so are the extensions which I needed. This is a cool little mod if I do say so and at a minimum I'll guarantee (because of these two fans) that dust wont come into that vent with the computer on. Neat little fans indeed.

Cons: You can find them at a much lower price at another on-line store. Come on newegg. Drop the price on these to make them competitive with the next store.

Other Thoughts: I'm convinced that these are the best 40mm fans made by a long shot. Now with the two of these I have 8 fans in my case. Everything is very cool.

3 out of 5 eggsA splurge. It works!

Pros: It's 40mm and it's from a reliable trusted brand. Fan is also sturdy for being small. Not as quiet as i thought. But, the noise is not irritating, if that makes sense. I bought it to replace the 35mm system fan for my Asus Sabertooth z77. The fan fits with the option 40mm bracket, but, I had to do some modding. Even though the fan is listed as 40mm x 10mm, the fan was still too thick. So, I had to scrape off the extra width with an exacto knife and take out the little rubber things by the screw holes to make it fit. And, thankfully, it does fit and it works. But, the experience was not fun. Not worth the money since the included 35mm fan with the Sabertooth Z77 was working fine for me and I just wanted to change and experiment. Oh, well.

Cons: -Won't fit as is if you're looking to replace the I/O fan on an Asus Sabertooth Z77 board. You will have to scrape off the excess width with an exact knife like I did to make them fit and also take out the rubber padding by the screw holes. it's a fat little fan for the Sabertooth Z77 but you just have to trim it a little.

- This fan, although, bigger than the 35mm fan that came with the Asus Sabertooth Z77 should be quieter. But, it's not. It might be noisier. But, thankfully, not irritatingly noisy. Just not as quiet as the stock ones to my surprise. Too late, for me, though. So, I want to make sure to write this for those of you with an Asus Sabertooth Z77, too, and thinking of getting this fan.

Other Thoughts: Look above

5 out of 5 eggsSmall and quiet

Pros: A quiet fan that is perfect for adding additional cooling to a 1U chassis or to cool individual components inside a 1U chassis. Has a great array of mounting and connectivity options, including adapters, etc.

Cons: Not the greatest volume of air, but sufficient for many purposes. I use two of them to add supplemental cooling for 2 HDDs and a raid card.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Quiet Cooling Fan

Pros: Very Quiet fan. Has additional connectors so that you can vary the speed - but who would need them - the fan is quiet at full speed.

Cons: Had to purchase it from another on-line vendor because their normal price for this fan is 14 bucks with free shipping

Other Thoughts: I purchased the fan to replace a failing fan in a NSA-310 NAS device. The Connector on the original fan was a mini 3-plug connector, so I cut it off, used a 3 pin female connector from a Molex 4 Pin to 3 Pin adaptor and made a mini to standard size 3 pin adaptor. Works great and is so quiet, I have to check and make sure it is working from time to time.

5 out of 5 eggsBlissful Silence

Pros: Nearly inaudible running at 2300 RPM.. Better airflow than the fan it replaced @ one-fourth the RPMs.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: This NF-A4x10 fan replaced the OEM ASUS USB fan for the X79 Sabertooth motherboard. The OEM 35mm fan was louder, by factors, than all of the other 5 Noctua case fans combined. Although the NF-A4x10 fan did not fit IN the OEM slot in the armor, it nested ABOVE it exactly. It tucked beneath the rear case fan nicely, and if I'd had a 1cm longer screw, it could have been secured in one hole. As it is, a little JB weld one either side sufficed for added, but unneeded security.
