4 out of 5 eggsmATX Fitment

Pros: Quality build and QC.
Ultra-smooth contact surface.
Super-quiet.

Cons: Massive.

Other Thoughts: Did not fit my ASUS z97M-PLUS / EVGA GTX 970 FTW combo. Only way it would fit is if I positioned the fan to point towards the side of the case. That position would take up the first DIMM slot and airflow would not be optimal.

5 out of 5 eggsNoctua NH-U14S

Pros: Very quiet, supreme build quality, and great cooling. I put this cooler on my 4790k overclocked to 4.6 GHz in a mini-ITX case with no heat issues

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Due to it's size I did have to plan the build's assembly order before attaching the heat sink to get everything in but, that's to be expected in a mini-ITX build

5 out of 5 eggsMy fav so far

Pros: Very easy and smooth to install!
Cools VERY VERY well.
It's very quiet. I actually had to boost the fan on it in my Bios because it though the fan was broken it was running so slowly. Temp was fine even with a low fan speed though.

I prefer this over a H100i. I have installed this and a h100i in a client's system. and the H100i was a HEADACHE. It needed a USB header to mess with the colors (Not a big deal) But whenever the system rebooted the color changed to pink and I would have to change it again. after 2 hours of looking online, I had to force update the firmware. and in general it was a pain in the rear.

The Noctua, Installed in 10 minture. Did a temp test and got amazingly low temps. Love it.

Cons: Large - but not a ram blocker

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: It does as advertised. Super quiet even without low noise adapters.
See results below.

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: Test conditions:
AMD A10-5800K stock speeds
Fractal Design Define XL R2
(3) 140mm fans that came with case. 2 intake in front, 1 rear exhaust.
All temps taken from BIOS
Closed case.
20 C ambient air temp (measured at fan intake)
Results:
Idle with all fans at 50% : 30C
Idle with all fans 100% : 30C
Prime 95 for 1 hour: all fans at 50% : 42C (12 over ambient)
Prime 95 for 1 hour all fans 100%: 38C (8 over ambient)
AWESOME! I believe it's a combination of a good cooler and a case with great air flow.
As soon as my new 860K gets here (I believe it's being shipped from Neptune...) I'll see how far I can overclock it. This cooler is giving me lots of headroom.
Go ahead and put water inside your computer; this works just fine for me.
I thought about a second fan for a push/pull, but all the test results I was able to find indicated no more than 1 or 2 degree difference.

As far as the mounting hardware goes, it literally took me longer to unpack it than to install.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet and Cool

Pros: Fan is quiet, even at load it has a slight air-moving sound.
Keeps i7 4790k cool at 4.5 OC (could probably do 4.6)
High profile RAM will fit with this cooler.

Cons: Not fully compatible with all motherboards. In some cases, the first PCIe slot may be blocked. Be sure to check Noctua's compatibility chart on their website to see if this cooler conflicts with your motherboard.
Fan color is not visually pleasing to my particular tastes.

Other Thoughts: The cooler is 165mm in height. Be sure your case can accommodate such a large unit.
Be sure to install the unit on a flat surface or you may have difficulties with mounting the product.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very quiet... You'll barely be able to hear it... Will keep your i7 nice and cool...! 6 year warranty... Nice clearance for most ram ... Easy mounting...

Cons: It's a big cooler! You will probably have trouble using the first ram slot if you use ram w/a large heat spreader...

5 out of 5 eggsVery Cool!

Pros: I've been running this cooler on an AMD 9370 8-core processor for 6 weeks and never exceeded 300° C. I don't game, but I do Photo-Shop and other CAD programs.

I have several other fans to move the air through a large tower chassis. I am very glad that I did not become a CPU plumber and went with this air-cooling unit.

It is fairly quiet, and my MB modulates the speed, as required. It runs slowly, most of the time.

Cons: It is large and I had to buy a larger (wider) case for it. But, that is physically necessary to wipe off the elevated heat, in my case, from a 225W CPU!

Other Thoughts: Does the job on one of the highest power dissipation chips in existence.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Mounts are excellent. Very easy to install. But more importantly it keeps my i7-4790k at 24C consisitently which is wicked cool.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsBrown goes with anything!

Pros: Solid Construction, heavy-gauge mounting brackets, efficient and silent fan. Slimmer design compared to the D14 allows more RAM clearance on some motherboards. Even the included screwdriver bar came in handy affixing a hard-to-reach motherboard screw.

Cons: This thing is big. Of course, if you're looking at Noctua coolers, you should be aware that most of them are. My case held it no problem, but check your case dimensions before buying.

Other Thoughts: If your case can handle this thing, go for it! I have it cooling an i7-4790K right now and it works great! As for the looks, don't worry about adding a little brown to your scheme. These things are beautiful!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat (but huge) air cooler

Pros: It moves air around, quietly, and keeps my CPU at about 31C at idle. It does its job, boringly. Boring is good in this case.

It's pretty easy to install, and comes with fittings for late-model Intel and AMD mobos. It works fine on an LGA2011-v3

Cons: It's quite large -- don't try to put it in a narrow or full-up case -- read the specs and make sure you've got the room! Also, getting the spring-mounted screws started is kind of a pain -- just be patient and don't force anything.
