Plus, the SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system is compatible with both AMD and Intel platforms, of previous, current and even future generation, making it a solid investment that can live on till your next two or three builds.

detailed view and application

Award-winning NH-U Series

General information

The NH-U14S is the first 140mm model in Noctua’s award-winning NH-U series. First introduced in 2005, the NH-U series has become a standard choice for premium quality quiet CPU coolers and won more than 400 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines.

Full RAM Compatibility on LGA2011

General information

With its 52mm slim design tailor-made for LGA2011, the NH-U14S will not overhang the RAM slots on this platform, thus guaranteeing full compatibility with tall memory modules. On some LGA115x and AMD motherboards, the front fan may overhang the first RAM slot, so standard height RAM (up to 32mm) should be chosen when using the first slot.*

Reasonable Size for Better Overall Compatibility

General information

Standing 165mm tall, the NH-U14S is short enough to fit most modern high-end cases. Measuring 150mm wide (including fan and fan clips), the NH-U14S provides better compatibility with SLI and CrossFire setups as compared to tower coolers that are wider than 150mm or use fans wider than 150mm.

NF-A15 140mm PWM Fan

General information

The NF-A15 is a premium quality quiet 140mm fan with a round frame that complies with Noctua’s AAO standard. Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the award-winning NF-P14.

PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptor

General information

The NF-A15 140mm fan supplied with the NH-U14S supports PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the mainboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced from 1500 to 1200rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.

Anti-vibration Pads and Fan-clips for Second NF-A15 (optional)

General information

For users who want to achieve even better performance by adding a second, optional NF-A15 fan to create a push/pull setup, the NH-U14S includes fan clips and an extra set of custom-designed anti-vibration pads that allow to off-set the rear fan by 5mm* to improve acoustics in dual-fan mode.*

SecuFirm2 Mounting System

General information

Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 and AMD (AM3+, AM2+, FM1, FM2, FM2+), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-U14S guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

Compatibility with Past and Future Sockets

General information

Complying with the open SecuFirm standard, the NH-U14S can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, which is provided by Noctua free of charge. If technically possible, Noctua will also provide upgrade kits for future sockets.

NT-H1 Thermal Compound

General information

Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, Noctua’s NT-H1 is a proven professional grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability.

*On LGA2011, using the 5mm anti-vibration pads will make the rear fan overhang the RAM slots on the left side of the socket, so please use standard height RAM (<32mm) for this configuration.

5 out of 5 eggsNoctua The Quite Very Effective Cooler

Pros: This thing does the job and does it right. I can't hear it at all. And my temps reflect that it is def working.

Cons: The color. That Brown Tho.... Come on Noctua there's no doubt when you see it who's cooler it is with these colors but please some color options.

Other Thoughts: Even with the color If i could give more than 5 stars this product would get it., and is worth it. Very happy with my purchase and will purchase it again.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Single Twoer Cooler on the Market

Pros: Performance
Build Quality
Warranty
Keeps my 4790K 4.7GHZ oc cool

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my new gaming pc deciding ahead of time not to opt for liquid cooling and take the risks of leaking, pump failure, noise, etc. I almost went for the Hyper 212 Evo as that is probably the most highly recommended single tower cooler on the market, but ultimately decided on the noctua after watching videos and reading reviews on both.

What stood out on the noctua for me:
- 6 year warranty
- Reputation
- Ease of installation
- Free upgrade to new socket mounting in the future

It was twice the cost of the 212 evo, but being a one-time purchase, the difference wasn't a big deal.

Installation was super easy, all the parts were superbly manufactured and it's been rock solid in use. I have my 4790K overclocked to 4.7 GHZ @ 1.248v and during prime 95 it never goes over 82*c. During gaming, browsing, watching movies, photoshop, etc it never goes over 50*c.

I did replace the fan a couple of months ago for one of noctua's NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM fans and it dropped temps by a few degrees (since the industrialppc fans move more air), plus it's a black, which goes along with my system (details below) better than the stock fan.

Based on the performance of this cooler and their fans, I'll be sticking with noctua in the future for my pc cooling needs.

5 out of 5 eggsMEASURE YOUR CASE BEFORE YOU BUY!

Pros: This thing is a beast. It's massive (4 pounds is the shipping weight.) It has a great fan. I can only assume how well it would have worked, however (see my con.)

Cons: This would not fit in my generic mini tower case. Although the case can handle an ATX motherboard, the heatsink cleared the case side by half an inch. I couldn't close it and keep this cooler installed. Tears fell as I reboxed it for an RMA.

It's not NewEgg or Noctua's fault I didn't measure first. 5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: Look for an open box of this cooler any day now. Sent it back and took the restocking fee hit as an idiot fine. My bad. :/

5 out of 5 eggsOkey, I'm impressed

Pros: I can't hear it with double fans installed! Cools my 5820 OC'ed and max load temp is 20C lower than the Zalman 9500 I replaced.

Cons: I'm replacing an existing Zalman 9500s(Old model, great cooler but just not enough for my current system).

The clip can be tricky to install and clip into place if you already have a thick GPU installed because of the size of this cooler. I had to pull out my GPU and installed the cooler because the clearance between the rads and the GPU is very tight. But if you building a system from scratch this shouldn't matter because most likely you'll be installing the cooler before the GPU.

Other Thoughts: I've been a long time Zalman fanboy since the late 90s until my latest build which is pushing the limit of a 9500 full copper cooler. This Zalman cooler rocks for 115X CPUs but it just won't cut it when I moved to 6 cores and OCed the CPU.

With the Zalman my CPU will hit 95C sometimes during stress test which will trigger thermal throttling.

After I swapped in the Noctua, max temp under same condition dropped to 75C. Idle temps dropped from mid 40's to mid 30's. :O

Been hearing only good things about Noctua and after this first purchase I'm officially converted.

5 out of 5 eggsA great cooler

Pros: I have had this cooler for a while now and it has exceeded my expectations in 2 different cases. It performs just as well as my old H100 in terms of cooling performance but it is much quieter seeing as I no longer have a water pump to hear whining. I average around 40C while idle on a 4690K OC'd to 4.5GHz base with 4.9GHz turbo. Under load it never goes above 62C. VERY satisfactory.

Cons: None that i have found yet!

Other Thoughts: I made a couple of blood sacrifices to the Noctua Deities trying to fit this into my little Node 304. Alas, adorning my blood it has blessed me with low temps and high satisfaction.

5 out of 5 eggsChill out dude!

Pros: Fit's 2011-v3 without using the supplied back-plate. Has hardware for both AMD and Intel installation included. Keeps the beast cool. Very tall, check the manufacturer's website for motherboard compatibility. Buy a wide case.

Cons: The instructions don't include directions for the 2011-v3 socket installation, but does have the hardware to do it. If you can't figure it out, maybe you shouldn't be building your own PC.

Other Thoughts: Up and running!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Cooler

Pros: I recently put a new computer system together with Asus X99A along with a 5820K being cooled with Cooler Master Seidon 120V. My temperatures were always somewhat high and OCing was diffuclt as stability was impacted. Yes I did re-apply the artic silver after cleaning the CPU and cooler multiple times trying to get good temps. After reading some reviews on here and other sites I decided to replace the Cool Master with the Noctua NH-U14S. I was able to overclock with ease at 4.5GHz with temperatures in the mid 70s on all cores while performing stress tests. I ran 3D Mark Firestrike and my temps never went above 55. I highly recommend this coooler

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Super easy to install, took less than 10 minutes before I was up and running.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat if Freezer was Cooler?

Pros: Pardon the silly DBZ joke.

It's a big heatsink. It's also a wonderful heatsink. Running the 5820k i7 @ 4Ghz/1.1Vcore.. barely got over 40c playing Tomb Raider.

The sink was buffed and mirrored (looked great), and I have no problems at all. Very easy to mount as well.

Cons: It's big?
Also, the thermalpaste tube didn't contain much material. Enough for the job, but I had none left over. (may have just been an unlucky tube)

Other Thoughts: If you can fit this in your case, I'd say you should get it. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGood bang for the buck cooler

Pros: Lowered temps from 70c to 50c on an i5-4690 during heavy gaming over the stock Intel cooler. Game is the current early-access game "Seven Days to Die". Idle temperature is 29c. Room temperature at the time was 22c. The 140mm fan supplied with the cooler does the job. The slim look of the heatsink fins.

Cons: The color of the fan.

Other Thoughts: Installed on an Intel i5-4690 on the ASUS H97 Pro Gamer motherboard in a Phanteks Enthoo Pro case. There is more than enough room in this case for this cooler. Installation is simple. The hardest part is cleaning off the old thermal compound off the cpu. If your case does not have a motherboard cutout so you can access the motherboard behind the cpu, you will have to remove the motherboard to install the required bracket for this cooler.
