The included NT-H1 thermal grease is also professional grade with maximum heat conductivity and ease of application. Plus, the SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system is compatible with both AMD and Intel platforms, of previous, current and even future generation, making it a solid investment that can live on till your next two or three builds.

detailed view and application

Award-winning NH-U Series

General information

The NH-U14S is the first 140mm model in Noctua’s award-winning NH-U series. First introduced in 2005, the NH-U series has become a standard choice for premium quality quiet CPU coolers and won more than 400 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines.

Full RAM Compatibility on LGA2011

General information

With its 52mm slim design tailor-made for LGA2011, the NH-U14S will not overhang the RAM slots on this platform, thus guaranteeing full compatibility with tall memory modules. On some LGA115x and AMD motherboards, the front fan may overhang the first RAM slot, so standard height RAM (up to 32mm) should be chosen when using the first slot.*

Reasonable Size for Better Overall Compatibility

General information

Standing 165mm tall, the NH-U14S is short enough to fit most modern high-end cases. Measuring 150mm wide (including fan and fan clips), the NH-U14S provides better compatibility with SLI and CrossFire setups as compared to tower coolers that are wider than 150mm or use fans wider than 150mm.

NF-A15 140mm PWM Fan

General information

The NF-A15 is a premium quality quiet 140mm fan with a round frame that complies with Noctua’s AAO standard. Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the award-winning NF-P14.

PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptor

General information

The NF-A15 140mm fan supplied with the NH-U14S supports PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the mainboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced from 1500 to 1200rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.

Anti-vibration Pads and Fan-clips for Second NF-A15 (optional)

General information

For users who want to achieve even better performance by adding a second, optional NF-A15 fan to create a push/pull setup, the NH-U14S includes fan clips and an extra set of custom-designed anti-vibration pads that allow to off-set the rear fan by 5mm* to improve acoustics in dual-fan mode.*

SecuFirm2 Mounting System

General information

Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 and AMD (AM3+, AM2+, FM1, FM2, FM2+), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-U14S guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

Compatibility with Past and Future Sockets

General information

Complying with the open SecuFirm standard, the NH-U14S can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, which is provided by Noctua free of charge. If technically possible, Noctua will also provide upgrade kits for future sockets.

NT-H1 Thermal Compound

General information

Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, Noctua’s NT-H1 is a proven professional grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability.

*On LGA2011, using the 5mm anti-vibration pads will make the rear fan overhang the RAM slots on the left side of the socket, so please use standard height RAM (<32mm) for this configuration.

4 out of 5 eggsDoesn't Work with X99 Micro 2 EVGA BOARD

Pros: Didn't get to use it so not sure how good it is.

Cons: Did not work with my X99 Micro2 EVGA Board. The mounting bracket was too small. It said it worked with 2011 boards but did not with that one.

5 out of 5 eggsThey made another great one, runs COOOL

Pros: The easiest HSF setup I've worked with, and I've handled alot through the years. This was so painless. Even adding the other 140mm fan (that isn't included btw) was simple once I figured out which direction to attach the support. Did I mention it runs COOL. Running a 5820k @ stock and the highest I've seen a since core get was 57* C in Metro LL benchmark full maxed 1080 run
Witcher 3 & Fallout 4 get it up to the 40*s. Prime 95 test 2 hr run and temps were nice and cool, not sure as I didn't record them but I remember being satisfied with the cooler and that was with only one fan. Fits well/looks great on the X99 Sabertooth and clears the dimms for all slots to be occupied, I'd stick with lo-pro ram sticks but something like Ripjaws should fit anways, you would only have to worry about the two closest dimm slots (to the cpu) anyways so if you're only going to take up 6 of the 8 slots you're golden regardless. But I digress, bravo Noctua, I could probably build another machine on just what I've spent on noctua fans but it's worth it in my eyes, good performance and I don't hear any of the 9 fans in this specific build.

Cons: Not really a con but didn't know it only had one fan until I opened it up. Also

Other Thoughts: *****Just a note it only comes with one fan*****

5 out of 5 eggsWho says you need water cooling?!

Pros: This cooler fits my build (which includes a i7 4790k) wonderfully, it isn't huge enough to block my high-profile ram like other large air coolers from Noctua, Phanteks, bequiet!, etc yet it still gives similar performance to more expensive AIOs from Corsair, NZXT, Cooler Master, etc. It's extraordinarily quiet as well, especially with the included adapter from Noctua. This product also comes with an insane warranty, 6 years from the company.

Cons: None, however I have not attempted to overclock my i7 4790k using this cooler yet so take that into consideration that I'm running stock clocks.

Other Thoughts: Wonderful cooler from Noctua that comes with a nice long warranty. Loving this product.

5 out of 5 eggsNoctua air cooler

Pros: I put this cooler on my AMD FX-8350 8-core a year ago. Shares a huge Corsair case with dual IceQ video cards and a PC Power and Cooling PSU.
My old cooler had a hard time keeping the cpu temp below 130 F. This thing keeps it down below 100 F. AND ITS SUPER QUIET. Couldn't be happier with it. If I build another computer, it WILL have a Noctua on it.
I really like that you can direct the air flow. I have the air blowing through the radiator toward the rear case fan. Keeps the case really cool. As I clock things up, I can hear the fan ramp up a little. You don't really notice it unless you are listening for it. Gotta be the best air cooler on the market. As good or better than a low cost water cooler, and no water to worry about.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you have, or are planning a high performance computer, or you want your cpu to run cooler, Noctua has your cooler.

5 out of 5 eggspretty cool

Pros: It seems to work as well as so many reviewers have already stated.
works well in the build:
noctua nh-u14s
i7-5820
msi x99
32 GB crucial ddr4
crucial ssd
storm trooper case
evga 80+gold PSU

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The color of the fan does not bother me; the function and silence far outweighs that.

4 out of 5 eggsNice cooler

Pros: It s good market cooler, I decided this based on the reviews on several places and research I have decided to buy. I made a good choice. But make sure it fits in your case. This is a huge metal construction and quality product. I gave only 4star right now, but I want to check the rated speeds are performing or not.

Cons: I see only size. But the ATX specifications, make sure before you buy check the case. Little bit expensive.

Other Thoughts: Intel Core i5-6600K 6M Skylake 3.5 GHz,
LGA 1151, MSI z170 gaming M7, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000, Cooler Noctua NH-U14S, Samsung EVO SSD 250GB, Phanteks PH-ES614P_BK Black Steel.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I love this CPU cooler. It dropped my temps on the CPU by 10c from the stock cooler. During gaming in 1440p or converting video recordings it doesn't go above 65c. You can feel this thing pushing the air. Plus with the warranty and easy to read instructions for install I would buy again.

Cons: The only con I can think of is an increased fan noise over stock but it's barely audible. That's me nit picking. Oh it is a big cooler. Massive actually. You would want to check ram clearance so it doesn't interfere and fits correctly.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooling, Silent, X99 friendly

Pros: High compatibility with x99 motherboards, comes with a quiet premium quality fan, silent on idle, quiet on load. Keeps my overclocked 5930k at 55C on load.

Cons: Price? nah. It's cheaper than competing AIOs so no cons here.

Other Thoughts: idle temps 27-30C
load temps 55-60C
ambient temps 21-23C
