Succeeding the award-winning NH-D14 cooler, the Noctua NH-D15 sets a new standard in high-end CPU coolers, with sophisticated design and superb quality components. This flagship CPU cooler adopts powerful dual tower architecture, and two premium-grade NF-A15 140mm fans with PWM support for automatic speed control. The heatsink fin stack is wider and the heatpipes are spaced further apart than that of the predecessor NH-D14, delivering better efficiency and more uniform dissipation. The included NT-H1 thermal grease is also professional grade with maximum heat conductivity and ease of application. Plus, the SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system is compatible with both AMD and Intel platforms, of previous, current and even future generation, making it a solid investment that can live on till your next two or three builds.

detailed view and application

Based on the Award-Winning NH-D14

General information

Noctua’s NH-D14 has received more than 350 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines, making it one of the most successful premium heatsinks ever built. With its expanded layout and dual NF-A15 fans, the NH-D15 further improves the D14’s much acclaimed quiet cooling performance.

Six Heatpipe Dual Tower Design

General information

As compared to conventional single tower heatinks, the NH-D15’s fine-tuned six heatpipe dual tower design provides more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency in dual fan mode.

Widened Fin Stack and Expanded Heatpipe Layout

General information

Compared to the NH-D14, the NH-D15’s fin-stack has been widened from 140 to 150mm and its heatpipes are now spaced further apart, which allows for a more uniform heat distribution over a larger surface area and thus contributes to the NH-D15’s superior efficiency.

High RAM Compatibility in Single Fan Mode

General information

Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15 provides 64mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks in single fan mode, making it compatible with most high end RAM modules on the market. In dual fan mode, the NH-D15 should be used with standard height RAM (up to 32mm). (In chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm.)

Dual NF-A15 140mm Fans

General information

The NH-D15 features two of Noctua’s premium class NF-A15 140mm fans. Complying with Noctua’s AAO standard and featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 has quickly built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm fans on the market.

PWM Support and Low-Noise Adaptor

General information

The NF-A15 premium fans supplied with the NH-D15 support PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the mainboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced from 1500 to 1200rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.

Excellent Component Cooling

General information

Extending below the fin-stacks, the large NF-A15 fans not only contribute to the NH-D15’s superb CPU cooling capabilities but also provide massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.

SecuFirm2 Mounting System

General information

Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 and AMD (AM3(+), AM2(+), FM1, FM2(+)), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-D15 guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

Compatibility with Past and Future sockets

General information

Complying with the open SecuFirm standard, the NH-D15 can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, which is provided by Noctua free of charge. If technically possible, Noctua will also provide upgrade kits for future sockets.

NT-H1 Thermal Compound

General information

Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, Noctua’s NT-H1 is a proven professional grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsJust wow

Pros: Mounting is the best I've seen for being secure
no wobble
super quiet (seriously had to check to make sure fan was running)

Cons: ULTRA HUGE
could only use one (combo of this device and my ram being too high G.Skill Trident Z)
a bit expensive

Other Thoughts: This product is a bit overpriced in my opinion but not by much. If you can wait for this unit to be on sale then do so but if you want the absolute best that air cooling and money can buy this in my opinion is the apex of air cooling now and into the future. It's quiet, cool, and MASSIVE! I had to order a 120x120mm fan (Noctua NF-F12 PWM) to use in place of the second 140x150 fan that comes with the device as the second just would not fit above my ram. This is a combination of my ram selection, motherboard ram placement and the noctua nh-d15 being so huge. But if I had normal height ram it would have fit with a slight lift of the second fan and my case would have closed fine. You can use it with one fan but I wanted the extra airflow in the case anyway and the Noctua NF-F12 PWM is the same color scheme and is another primo noctua product. Overall this is a 5/5. I didn't deduct any points for being a bit expensive as that is very subjective. Also this is the top of the line and in my opinion you can't buy better air cooling. So price should be a bit higher than say a hyper 212 evo which I was using previous to this. Temps dropped over 6 degrees when my i7-6700k is idle. Very very good cooling from this beast. Would buy one again if I needed to but I'm pretty sure that this cooler will be good well into the future as Noctua seems happy to provide adapters and kits well into the future for their products. Also I emailed noctua support about the fan size suggestions for the second fan and to see if my existing fan clips would fit, they responded withing 3 hours of me sending them an email. This is rare today. I have had bad experiences with both Corsair and Gigabyte when looking to have simple questions answered about their products by support.

5 out of 5 eggsa beast of a heat sink

Pros: I taxed my i7-5820k for over an hour and the d15 didn't break a sweat keeping it cool.

It's cosmetic but it's so massive that it looks badass if you have a see through side.

Cons: I had to raise the second fan a couple of ribs on the heat sink to make room for my ripjaws ram. Standard ram isn't an issue I read.

5 out of 5 eggsBest air cooler, but huge

Pros: - Dropped my load temps by ~10 degrees over previous aftermarket cooler (Cryorig H7)
- Quiet
- Using pull-pull configuration, RAM is still accessible without removing anything

Cons: - So large. First PCIe slot unusable. Fortunately, it's an x1 that I don't need.
- Weight. It's a mental concern... not sure if it's an actual concern.

Other Thoughts: - Noctua has compatibility listed with various setups on their website. Make sure you check. If it fits, it is recommended!
- Asus Z170-PRO is able to fit this in a pull-pull configuration with the back fan mounted a little higher than middle one to avoid touching rear I/O hood.
- Able to be mounted in Fractal Define R5 with motherboard already installed.
- Mild 10% overclock (4.4Ghz @ 1.2V (1.265V measured)) on 6700k. Min recorded Idle temp 21C. Normal load temps ~62C max (h264, Realbench Benchmark). Stress temps ~72C max (IBT, Realbench Stress)

5 out of 5 eggsits a big bad noctua what more do you need to know

Pros: noctua
two fans
not to hard to install

Cons: some people may find it ugly if you have a case with a window
kind of tall make sure it fits in your case especially if you have tall ram and want to use both fans (fits fine in my cooler master haf912)

Other Thoughts: works great even with an over clock dont let people tell you you need an aio if you overclock the fact is this keeps up with some of the best aio coolers and it blows the entry level aio coolers out of the water its only 80 bucks you just spent like 370 on your cpu so dont go cheap its way over kill if your not over clocking

5 out of 5 eggsBest CPU Fan Out There

Pros: i7 4790k - stock 4ghz idles around 20C, prime95 for 5 mins 64C max

Cons: not really an issue, but it took me forever to plug the two CPU fans in as there was little to no maneuvering room in my case, which is full atx.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to others.

5 out of 5 eggsBest air cooler on the market

Pros: - This thing has the same performance as every water cooler at the same price point without all the tubes and and mess
- Very easy to install, the easiest cooler I've ever had to install
- Extremely quiet, my computer sits under my desk and I never hear the fans, sadly I do hear my gpu fans at times

Cons: - Its huge, though I suppose it has to be to cool so effectively
