4 out of 5 eggsReplacement for ClioX Windtunnel 250mm

Pros: Moves air as advertised, it is keeping my drives cooler now. Easy to install.

Cons: A little louder than previous fans. Fine for an office desktop environment, you wouldn't want these in an entertainment system. Took one star off for loudness.

Other Thoughts: Directly replaces the ClioX Windtunnel fans that gave out on me after about 4 years of use, except this is not a variable speed fan, it is just on or off.
I did not require spacers for my screws as some have reported, but if you do need them that is easy enough.

1 out of 5 eggsGPA: 1.0 Failing Grade

Pros: It fits the case, (Xclio A380 Engine Case). Two fans, one in the side door, and one in the front on the bottom. The fans, (when properly operating), move a very good amount of air, and for gaming machines, these cases/fans do make a huge difference. But... these replacement fans are not as well built as the factory Xclio fans, (Which are unavailable).

I still have the case hoping to rebuild it and obtain replacement fans which actually work as designed!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: These fans have thinner blades than the factory fans, hence the clicking and knocking issues. This comes from the fan blades actually acting like a Helicopter Blade and flexing "up" out of the fan duct/cage. In order to get mine to work properly, I had to maintain the lowest RPM Setting, and build a 1/4 inch offset collet in the screws to mount the fan back off the door.

As for the front fan on this case... lets just say its only there for ornamental purposes. I could not get the fan to clear the mesh in the front of the case, and there is no room to engineer an offset for the blades to clear. I have a 120mm mounted directly behind it to push air across the HDD cage/mounts. and an 80mm mounted on the other side to form a push/pull air movement area over the HDD cage/mount.

Too bad I had to retire the case because these replacement fans, (the fan blades), are too flimsy to move the air they really should.

Other Thoughts: To the Rexus Engineers:

You guys need to beef-up the fan blades, and test your products in close tolerance environments to ensure the blades to not flex above the duct cage.

One of the solutions I found after reverse engineering your fan was to build an actual ducted fan design, (which worked by the way). I built an outer ring and epoxy'd it on the intake side of the fan blades using small pieces of poly-styrene from model sprues. I then balanced the fans to ensure the blades did not vibrate during the high RPM test. The unfortunate part is that though this worked, I was not able to install this in the case because of the way I had to alter the fan.

(Folks: Understand I did this just to see of it would work, don't do this then install it on your machines. Point: I did not install this modified fan on my computer. This was a bench test only).

The engineers should be able to create an actual ducted type fan with the blade tips supported with an outer ring spinning inside the mounting frame without protrusion from either site. In fact a few years back Cooler Master made an 80mm Tip Drive center bearing fan that actually worked very well. I used this product on a heatsink for a P-4 3.0E gaming machine. That type of fan might be an option for this application.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes what it does...

Pros: I also nabbed these to replace both side panel fans in one of the older runs of the XClio Windtunnel. I previously ordered only one of the non-LED version, but it arrived DOA so I decided to shoot for these.

They certainly push a ton of air, unfortunately they are a FAR cry from being silent. If you're placing them into the XClio case, be prepared to place some spacers for the screws. I began having issues once they were installed with the fan's fins knocking against the fan grills of the side panel. I just stripped a few pieces of cardboard to run the screws in and no longer have that problem.

Cons: Apart from the noise & knocking fins, there were no other issues that I could spot.

Other Thoughts: When all is said and done, they do their job.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: It's a 250mm fan

Cons: Bad Build quality
LED's didn't last long

Other Thoughts: Bought 2 of these to replace the failing fans on my XClio Windtunnel a year ago. Suffice to say, I'm writing this review a year later due to the fact that both are now dead. Well, technically the last one is dead, since the first one died within a few days of installing it. And I didn't bother to RMA it, since newegg didn't cover shipping costs anymore (they used to a long time ago.) Now I'm going to have to contact XClio and see if I can buy replacement fans directly from them. Otherwise I'm just going to have to buy a new case if I can't fabricate a bracket to let me use 200mm fans.

4 out of 5 eggsLong lasting fan with good airflow

Pros: The large fan really ups the airflow in my case. I first modded my case with this fan 4 years ago, and it functioned well for that entire time. I noticed a temp reduction of almost 10 degrees F after I first installed it. The price is right so when it finally died I just replaced it with the same one. Even though the hardware in my case has changed substantially it still does the job.

Cons: Both times I installed the fan at least one of the mounting pegs cracked when used with the included screws. Not a big deal, and it should be cleaned fairly regularly; the punched-hole mesh can gather dust quickly depending on the environment. Rather have the dust on the fan than in the case.

4 out of 5 eggsBright, Windy but don't last too long.

Pros: I have one of the older Xclio Windtunnel cases that require two 250mm fans on the side. The original Xclio fans lasted 6 years before dying but the Rexus fans that replaced them lasted two years before giving up the ghost. They are huge and provide lots of air though. The leds are very bright and work perfectly for the intended purpose.

Cons: The last two Rexus 250mm's i brought lasted 2 years. Can't say I'm too thrilled about that but Rexus appears to be the only company that sells case fans of this size on Newegg. Fans work perfectly though....they just don't last as long as i would prefer.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very quiet fans, moves a TON of air. Easy to install once my case (Xclio Wind Tunnel) was pulled apart.

Cons: I, like another review I saw, had to clip some of the tips of one of the fans away to ensure it did not get stuck while spinning.

I wish they had come with the fan control connectors to adjust the speed.

Other Thoughts: I had to replace both of the original 250MM fans I got with the Wind Tunnel in 2009, as the originals finally died.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Fan, Runs Loud

Pros: Overall, for a case fan, it does its job. Used this fan to replace an original from my case that had gone bad.

- Quality construction, solid frame
- Quick, easy installation
- LED matches existing fans (didn't want franken-case)

Cons: Upon running the fan for the first time i was taken back at how loudly it hums. I expected some white noise, but not THIS much. The sound is drowned out by my VGA cooler when it kicks in so its hardly noticeable. The real issue I have is when it idles and I can hear it in the other room.

Other Thoughts: This replaced 1 of 2 fans in the side panel of my case. I recently replaced the opposite fan with a different model, which Newegg was out of at the time of this purchase. For what it is made for, this is a solid fan. Just on the loud side
