4 out of 5 eggsNot for Dell GX-280

Pros: Quality appears to be solid. Physically a good fit. It has the thermistor for speed control.

Cons: My Mistake, not plug compatible with Dell GX-280. Not NewEggs fault. I wish I had just looked at existing four pin fan motherboard connection prior to ordering this one.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good for a Dell OEM fan

Pros: Quiet, powerful, thermally controlled

Cons: Dude, it's a Dell

Other Thoughts: I picked one up used, and was surprised by the quality. Dual ball bearings, quiet but strong, built-in thermistor. 3rd pin is a lock-up sensor, not a tach. I modded it for non-Dell use but would happily recommend it. Blame its shortcomings and price on Dell and their inscrutable PC cooling strategies.

You won't be buying this unless you need a replacement for your Dell, but in that context it is a very good case fan. Kudos to Nidec for making a solid product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Fans

Pros: I have had a number of fans but this one has lasted the longest. I've moved it from one computer to another and used it as a case or CPU fan and it['s performed flawlessly.

Cons: Wish they were in stock

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for old Dells

Pros: 92mm fan for old Dell desktops, has the proprietary Dell power connector, runs quietly and keeps an old machine running smoothly.

Cons: Price is high, Proprietary size and power connector on the OEM equipment makes this the only choice for those older Dell systems, and the biggest drawback of them all: OUT OF STOCK.

Other Thoughts: Good thing I bought mine when I did, one month later and bam, gone, maybe forever.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Identical to original, and dead quiet

Cons: A little expensive for a fan
odd size 92mm x 32mm so not very common
and also proprietary connector even less common.

Other Thoughts: considering it was all I needed to fix my computer I guess it was worth it.

1 out of 5 eggsDell has to complicate everything

Pros: .......

Cons: If it worked as it was suppose to and didn't turn off or become unable to be recognized then im sure it would be fine. Dell must always complicate things in the computer, even something as simple as a fan. I used this to replace a case fan in a Dimension 2400. It worked at first. Powered up. No problem. Then shut down, restart, nothing. Fan not detected. Unhooked it, replaced old one. Same error, no fan detected. Disable warnings in bios. Replace with new fan. No error, but no fan spinning. Unhook, replace old fan. I have never had a problem replacing a case fan in my life. Leave it to dell to make that happen.

Other Thoughts: Like I said, dell makes everything overly complicated. The nonstandard 3 pin motherboard connector sucks. Is that an audio cable connection? No, they had to use their own. Why can't it run off the power or motherboard like all other standard fans? Why do we have to buy special parts for their junky pc's? These computer often break, so why do they have to make special parts only they use to fix them? I guess they are in it for the buck. They do not want you to be able to service your computer yourself, they want their "trained/licensed" people to do it, for 90 an hour. I hate you dell. Also, I had little choice in what fan's I could choose from. There are 500 standard fans to choose from and only a handful of these.

5 out of 5 eggsIdeal Dell replacement

Pros: Very good price & features. Key item is it is a swap for Dell OEM fans, at least in the Dimension 4500 & 4600 series. I have had two case fans in Dell computers, bite the dust and this has been a solid solution.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Buying another, to replace another Dell Dimension case fan.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very solid, moves a decent amount of air, Thermally controlled, even though it's not listed it is dual ball bearing

Cons: Thermal sensor cannot be remotely located

Other Thoughts: This fan is THE Dell OEM fan for the P4 Dell Dimension 3K, possibly others with similar cases. the one i have has lasted 4+ years and still going strong.
