Enzotech Type-X AM2 Retention Modules

Pros: It does what its suppose to....kinda

Cons: I had to modify it to work with my heatsink. It wouldn't make contact with the CPU.

Other Thoughts: This thing might fit properly on Enzotech HSF but nothing else without modding it.

Pros: This is the answer to those of us who use AMD procs. but can't seem to find the right cooler, this simplifies using any cooler out there, considering it will fit your case.

Cons: Wish I had known about this years ago.

Pros: I used this to mount a Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler on a AMD x4 965. Worked perfecty! System runs very cool. Contact with chip is excellent. Cooler is going nowhere.

Cons: I can only over clock to 4.03. Must... have... more.. speed. Seriously, this thing does its job.

Pros: Allows the better mounting solutions that Intel has over AMD.

Cons: Takes a bit of modification to make it work. I have both the AM2 and AM3 cores in different PCs and to use the bracket I had to cut the mounting spring and flip the brackets upside down.

Other Thoughts: Advertise the product as it has to be used or make changes so uses don't have to modify the product to make it work

Pros: It does its job and the holes line up perfectly. If you have an AM3 socket and you want your new cpu cooler held on tight and not that weird clip design that feels like its going to fall off this is your retention module.

Cons: Ummm... It doesn't come in fancy colors...Would be cool if it came in yellow to match my colors on my mobo.

Pros: Fixed my mounting problem for my MSI 890FXA-GD70.

Cons: Wasn't included with Enzotech Extreme-X rev. A

Other Thoughts: Why do CPU manufacturers have to make everything difficult.

Pros: 120mm fan and great cooling

Cons: Couldn't place on my cpu with original mounting bracket.

Other Thoughts: if your Motherboard does not have a lot of room next to your CPU i would purchase the optional bracket that enzotech offers. Here is the newegg address:

I needed this bracket for my MSI 890FXA-GD70 motherboard I have read that others needed the same bracket.

Pros: I purchased the Enzotech Extreme cooler (amazing cooler by the way) and this to get a more secure mount on my AM3 Biostar TA890FXE. I love AMD, but their CPU mounting sceme has always bugged me. This little gizmo allows a socket 775 stlye mount for AM3 motherboards. It is a must buy for most AM3 motherboards and coolers in my opinion.

Cons: Instructions are whack...but honestly, if you can't figure it out you shouldn't be building a computer in the first place.

Pros: Allows my Xigmatek Dark Knight to be mounted vertically on my MSI NF980-G65 AM3 board (with some modifications, see below)

Cheap!

Cons: Required modification for the Dark Knight, but I'm not taking off an egg, as that wasn't exactly what this bracket was for.

Other Thoughts: I got this in hopes of mounting my Xigmatek Dark Knight in a vertical orientation on my AM3 board. However, it didn't work out of the box... After mounting the Type-X retention module to the board, I realized the Knight's 775 bracket was too short to allow the cooler to touch the CPU. So, I put the plates that go on the cooler on upside down. It was then too tall, so I cut two springs in half and used them as four. This allowed my Dark Knight to reach the CPU with the springs still giving enough force to provide a secure mount.

Cons: it only comes in black...LOL

Other Thoughts: This my second Enzotech type-X AM2..it's the best way to mount my Xiggy..
It uses 4-40 nuts my last one did not come with em
