5 out of 5 eggsMother of air Coolers...

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Temps!
I keep my house between 55~65.F (~13-18.c) all year, and according to CoreTemp, my FX-8320 @4.6GHz is idling between 13~14.c maxed out at 49.c after 2 hours of Prime95

Looks awesome too

Cons: Not a con for me but it is MASSIVE, check your case dimensions and RAM heatsink height before buying, this beast just barely clears my G-Skill Trident-X modules with the heat spreaders removed, and is sitting nearly flush with the back-plate of my R9 290

Had to mount the 200mm intake fan on my Elysium on the outside of the window and drill a hole for the power cord, not a big issue for me personally

Other Thoughts: Wanted one of these bad boys since I saw the review on OverClockersClub, basing my lighting theme around this beast in my new rig (orange and white baby)

System Specs

Xigmatek Elysium
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
AMD FX-8320 @ 4.6GHz
MSI Gaming Series R9 290
G-Skill Trident-X 16gb (4x 4gb) DDR3-2400
Antec HCP-1000 Platinum
Sandisk Extreme II 240gb SSD
WD Caviar Black 3tb
WD Caviar Green 1.5tb + 500gb

5 out of 5 eggsGreat heatsink!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Quality construction, easy enough to assemble, affix and great cooling power. CPU sits around 35C under idle circumstance and no higher than 45C under load (BF4).

Cons: I can see how installation may-be a little difficult for some.

Other Thoughts: I highly suggest using the installation videos available on the Phanteks website vs. the provided instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsGot as a gift for christmas

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my i5 3570k super cool @ 4.5ghz.
Massive twin tower design competes with and beats a lot of closed loop water coolers.
Looks AMAZING in my NZXT Phantom full tower in black with orange trim.
Not very loud at all. My case fans are louder.

Cons: Bit of a pain in the rear to set up. Instructions arent that great, but they're sufficient.

Other Thoughts: The guy who ruined his motherboard in the comments below clearly has no idea what he was doing. Claims to be a tech level 5 but makes it blatantly obvious he's no where near that level with the slander he wrote.
Obviously you cant use RAM that have massive heat-sinks with this CPU cooler. Its a gargantuan AIR cooler. Any amount of common sense would suggest the same. Something that kinda makes me laugh is that he ruined his motherboard and replaced it before he decided to just return his ram and get different sticks. Wow, yeah its the coolers fault that you're incompetent. Way to go, man.

I wouldnt put this cooler in anything but a full tower case. Dont buy this cooler if you're a fan of massive spiky heatsinks on your RAM.
I'm currently using Mushkin blackline, and even with those i had to raise one of the fans up about 1/8th of an inch so i could even put ram in the slots on my MSI Z77A-GD55 motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsSlient but deadly

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Fans are low RPM, low DB but high CFM and the unit keeps my computer cool.

Cons: The heat sink is a HUGE. In my case it prevented me from using my 3.5 inch drive bays with the unit. I ended up having to get 5.25 to 3.25 adapters to move my hard drives. I have a full server tower case so this was just a bit annoying and added some cost to the overall owner ship.

Also you must install ram first (at least on my board). This means that any changes to the ram will require taking the heat sink off (at least on my board). Not a big issue for me as I have maxed out my memory.

Pros: This Beast keeps my FX8120 super cool at 4.2 ghz. It's huge , but fits perfectly into my CM Storm Enforcer case.Use low profile ram with this cooler to get the clearance you'll need.I used GSKILL Sniper 1866.Orange color is awesome.Phanteks did a fantastic job with this Beast.Just make sure you have the room to install.I f you do grab one of these now.Overclockers won't be disappointed.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is #1!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Air Cooler on the Market

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Went from stock I-7 cpu cooler hitting 60C under load to the Phanteks PH-TC14PE never going above 30C under load. Currently my O.C. is at 4.8Ghz and my CPU doesn't heat above 70C.

The best air cooled CPU fan on the market.

Cons: This is a beast of a CPU cooler. It requires a large case.
Fits in my Cooler Master HAF 932 case with some room to spare but I did have to pull the 230mm side fan from my case.

5 out of 5 eggsCool, Quiet, High in Vitamin C

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: -Surprisingly easy to install, was actually easier than my Hyper 212 Evo
-Very quiet, can't hear it over my (also very quiet) case fans even at full RPM
-3570k at 4.0Ghz stays under 50C at full Prime95 load (~30C ambient)
-With so much orange you'll never have to worry about scurvy. Be the envy of all your pirate friends! Pair it with some Cougar Vortex case fans and you'll have a classy orange theme.

Cons: Not at all performance-related: I wish the housing for the fans was black instead of white, but that's because my Cougar Vortex fans are black/orange. That's what paint and weekends are for, right?

Other Thoughts: Seriously though, who does an orange build? That's something people will notice.

1 out of 5 eggsWould not recommend

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Haven't seen any yet.

Cons: This thing is massive, forget about trying to install ram after this is in.
The instructions are vague and in broken English.
The plate to secure this thing down is awkward to get to and too long to fit their own base screws.

5 out of 5 eggsBest of the Best!!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_OR 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: I was skeptic about this product but the company is been around for a long time and they have good reputation and they also manufactured several high end CPU Cooler for third party company. I'm currently running old Q6600 3.6 GHz volts 1.4ish temp max temp 56c max load using Aida64 extreme much accurate.

FYI! very important for beginners and Pro user. We did thermal paste comparison Phantek thermal paste vs Arctic Silver 5. We strongly advice using Phantek thermal paste it is 9 degrees below from arctic silver 5. Test after test Phantek thermal paste dissipate heat very efficient. Noctua D14 is very good cpu cooler but Phantek blow them away several degrees.

Cons: Not really a con. I was surprise ppls complaints about the cooler it too big.LOL! Did you read specs or watch the video/ measure your computer case. :)) common sense! Lots ppls complaint it is loud. Yes! if you put your ear next to fan. :}}

Other Thoughts: It would be nice the kit comes with amd plate.
