5 out of 5 eggsThe best air cooler I've ever used

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my i7-4790k @4.7 1.296v at 72c when all cores are maxed for 12 hrs or more

Cons: Instructions were not the best its possible to install the brackets wrong took multiple tries to fit before I got it right but wasnt too aggrevating :)

Other Thoughts: First time giving Phanteks a try and it will definitely not be my last

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler, pain to install though

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: -Great at keeping your CPU cool
-Fans are relatively quiet

Cons: -Large size may be a problem for smaller cases
-Installation is rather difficult

Other Thoughts: Installation is only difficult when you are screwing the actually heat sink into the bracket. This is because you have to really line them up perfectly before you screw anything in, and once you start to screw them in you must screw each one little by little at first.

2 out of 5 eggsEnormous and difficult to install

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: -Works well once you get it in. No complaints.

Cons: -Ridiculously huge. I have and enormous case and it barely fits.
-Almost impossible to install if you have hands larger than a child's. Sharp edges have me cut up everywhere.
-Whoever created the instructions for installation needs to be moved to a different job. At their best they were difficult to understand. At the worst they were downright wrong and I had to figure it out by myself.
-Once it's in, good luck getting anything else in around it. It covers a few of my DIMM slots. Put this in as late as possible. Although if you wait, you'll have even more to maneuver around while trying to perform this Dumbo Drop.

Other Thoughts: It's a fine product, but I can't recommend it due to sheer difficulty of installation. It took me hours of frustration. Look for other more user-friendly fans.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Excellent heat dissipation and low maintenance for a good price. Top-tier air cooler. Outperforms any self-contained water cooling unit in it's price range. Relatively large tube of thermal paste included. Very happy with the product. I'll likely extend it's use to my next build, provided I have or can obtain the correct mounting brackets.

Cons: On arrival there was a slight bend, maybe five degrees or so on one set of heat pipes connecting of the fin towers to the base block, which made it difficult to install the center fan. It was packaged well enough that I'm certain it came out of the factory that way. It took care to straighten the bend without causing any damage to the unit. Considerably minor issue so I am not subtracting any eggs.

Other Thoughts: This is a very large CPU cooler. Be sure that it will fit in your case before purchase. It should fit in most full-size and some mid-size cases. I would highly recommend comparing the provided measurements against those of your computer case. Be conscious of clearance over your RAM if you have modules with a high profile, as the cooler will extend over at least one memory slot on most motherboards.

The cooler allowed me to overclock an Ivy Bridge CPU to a very stable 4.5GHz which I've been running at continuously for several years now. While there is some correlation between the two, in my circumstances, instability beyond that speed was a result of voltage issues rather than temperature issues. From a cooling perspective I believe it could have gone further.

If you're not intending on pushing your CPU through overclocking, there is really no need to spend the extra money on a cooler of this size.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat. Would buy again

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps CPU cool. Great fit.

Cons: Size was a worry. Make sure you have a larger case. But it fil into my full size ATX. Prob wouldn't fit a mid size

Other Thoughts: Get this CPU fan. I game and CPU never gets hot.

5 out of 5 eggsBIG, VERY BIG. But also very good.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: 1. Cool Lookin'
2. Easy to install
3. VERY EFFECTIVE COOLER FOR OC
4. You can add another fan if you need more chill.
5. Watching a movie, writing this review, and defragging a HDD.... My 4790 is idling at 34C (That's like 93F)
6. When I game I hit like 40C.
7. When I OC the DICKENS out of the CPU, I stay at about 60C. This thing is highly effective for me. :)

Cons: 1. Freakin Huge.
2. Some assemble required. The instructions could be better.... but get the job done.
3. This thing takes up a lot of case real estate. MEASURE before you BUY!

Other Thoughts: This is probably the best Air Cooler I have ever had. Dont get my wrong, I love my Hyper 212 Evo, and it was a darn fine cooler. This thing is a whole different level. Just buy it. Heck, buy TWO and save a friend some pain!

1 out of 5 eggsWould be nice, if it actually came with everything.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Looks nice, doesn't cost as much as some other options.

Cons: One of the four motherboard mounting screws came with absolutely no threading. This is a really basic quality control thing to get wrong, and now I get to wait another week without access to a computer because of one simple screw. Thanks.

Other Thoughts: I'll take my business elsewhere from now on. Noctua has never steered me wrong, and can generally have the capacity to make sure they thread their screws. Thought I could save a few bucks, but it's not worth it when I next-day shipped all my parts in time for classes, and now I won't have access to my school files for an entire week.
