5 out of 5 eggsBetter then NHD14 , NHD15 , H100i , H105I

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: this is probably the best air cooler you can buy as of 2015, the only one almost better is the nhd15 by noctua... i have a delidded i7 4790k clocked to 5.0 ghz with this , vcore is like 1.43 also... its prime 95 stable with 80c on 2 cores in load...

Cons: the installation , once you have everything set up and your about to put the heatsink on the 2 plates , it gets really tricky and you have to know where the screws are under the heatsink.... once you get the hang of it , its easy...

4 out of 5 eggsHuge and quiet

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Huge size means a massive thermal mass. I could probably leave this on without fans and it would radiate away enough heat to keep my CPU at reasonable temperatures.
140mm fans and included rubber liners mean massive airflow and nearly no noise. I cannot hear any noise caused by this component - likely because it is obscured by noise from my GPU's tiny fans.

Cons: Huge size could cause problem for certain RAM modules. Mine are low profile, so it does not interfere with them. At the same time, if I wanted to install more RAM, I'd have to take the cooler off (I have LGA2011, so ram slots on both sides of CPU).

Also be mindful of the GPU in your top PCI-E slot. The clearance between it and the cooler's edge is small.

I do not recommend installing this cooler while your motherboard is in a case or vertical.

Keeping your motherboard outside the case, first install the RAM, then the CPU, then this cooler. Lay your case on its side so you can lay the motherboard on the standoffs. Attach the 12V CPU power cable, and finally attach the motherboard to the case with screws in the appropriate locations.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HUGE cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Great cooler, very quiet for the cooling done. Easy install. I have had it installed for just shy of a year now and still working great.

Cons: Size, but duh... read the description and reviews.

Other Thoughts: I have a Coolmaster Raven 1 (RV-01) case and this thing still barely sits in the case. I had to take out the extra support bar for the video cards to fit it in. (The RV-01 has the mobo turned 90 deg to allow heat to excape out of the top. Great case btw).

But if you can fit it in, its worth the buy.
Liked the option for different colors as well.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is a tank...in a good way.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: This thing is a beast. It is easily the best air cooler I have ever used. It can handle pretty decent overclocks without fussing much. Also looks great, and is very quiet.

Cons: Fans can only be replaced by the same branded fans, because of the position of the heatsink mounting points. Not really a big deal because the fans that come with it look, sound, and operate nicely.

This thing is big. Not really a con, but you can use ripjaw memory underneath the heatsink, but you can NOT remove them without removing the heatsink first.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on mounting this pointing up, you will need to position the fans on the top and middle, as the gfx card will not allow a fan to be on the under-side of the cooler. Again, not a big deal, but worth noting.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is what i recieved with my PH-TC14PE_BK from newegg

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: It comes with the new style fans that are 4 pin PWM. The crimping from the earlier batch i have read isn't there it is relatively smooth.

Cons: It was missing the fan speed reducer but not a major con. I was expecting it to be in the box though. Even without that the fans are real quiet since i have been using it.

Other Thoughts: I received a brand new product and no scratches or anything wrong with the flat black finish. From what i have seen and on my motherboard B85m-e matx the cooler doesn't block the first pci express slot .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Easy, very cool, I have an i5 4670k and it's OC'd to 4.4GHz. It idles at 26c and under full load it hits 45c. I did replace the original fans with corsair Af140 fans and they are a little more quiet than the originals and run about 3 degrees cooler.
Look at the tests, this cooler beats out a lot of water coolers. and it's half the price.

Cons: Original fans are a little loud. But I already had some corsair af140 at home. I swapped them in with some custom mounting and it's a lot more quiet.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Cooler - Beware of the size!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my i7 4770K OC'ed to 4.4 Ghz below 70C at all times when stress testing.

Cons: Using the fans in pull/pull configuration due to RAM clearance constraints...but still manages to do the job well.

Tightening the dual fingerscrews to mount the heatsink felt very imprecise. I would rest easier knowing that they were tightened evenly to ensure the CPU is receiving equal pressure top-to-bottom. (This could be achieved using a torque wrench, I suppose.)

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to pick a color...

5 out of 5 eggsSeriously AMAZING

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: EXTREMELY cold
Very quiet.
Versatile configurations.
Your basic aftermarket cooler install, LOL @ the people who couldn't figure this out, it's literally the same as every other corsair/CM/thermaltake cooler install. y'all need to chill.

Cons: I really only found all of 1-2 "cons"

1) the heatsink fins are a little low-set, so on the DDR4 Corsair Dominators, the outer portions of each side of the cooler are so low that is DOES NOT make contact with the cpu (stealth brag I bought a 5960x)

This had to be resolved by physically REMOVING 3 of the outer fins from each side. these are either spot-welded or soldered onto the (central) heatpipes, and are connected as halves. IN ENGLISH: each gigantic radiator is made up of 2 halves of cooling fins, so they're easy to break the weld and pop them off cleanly. :D

2) this isn't a real con, but can be considered a con, i guess, maybe, if you're being super picky.... idk w/e....... but the fact that they combine 2x 4 pin fan power connectors into a single doesn't allow for accurate representation of RPM. They can be broken up into 2, so this isn't even an issue, idk.... i guess this isn't even a con. just worth mentioning that this is no hybrid weirdly built frankencooler, it's just two fans on a set of 2 heatsinks, so don't expect a single one plug to do the job. most boars have 2 spots for CPU fans now, even further nullifying this "con"

Other Thoughts: Honestly, this cooler is the best air-cooler i've ever used in my entire life.

My idle temps on my i7-5960x @ 1.5V @ 4.6GHz range between 22c and 30c depending on my office temperature.

Under load of gaming, it can ALMOST hit 40c, but struggles to do even that.

Under cpu-aimed load tests, it can hit real cpu temps, 60c-80c depending, but that's under the hardest 100% load capable of being delivered.

The ASUS x99 Deluxe auto-overclocker considers CPU temps when overclocking, and with this cooled, i was able to achieve 4.4GHz before having to take over and push it with my own comfort level.

Again, I STRONGLY recommend this cooler to anyone who is ready for the top tier of air cooling.

4 out of 5 eggsPhanteks PH-TC14PE

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my i7 4790 nice and cool while being nearly silent. Great looking anodize with nice fin quality.

Cons: Took one egg off for finish of bottom. Not nearly the smoothness I was used to. May be on purpose for all i know these days though. Instructions could use a tad bigger picture for fan/bracket installation. Was a little hard to understand till I watched video online.

Other Thoughts: Wish I would have got the red now. The black is so good it almost hides in there. May take back off later and lap bottom plate to see if I can get even better performance out of it & I will update if so.
