5 out of 5 eggsbest air heatsink in the market

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: So since the recent death of my water cooler pump (which was rather bad since I did not want a return of the stock heatsink on my system) along came this lovely thing, and it keeps my i5 3570K (OC'ed to 4.2Ghz) at an idle temperature of about 32~37 degrees load temps this thing does not exceed the mid 40s (mind you this is during the summer) so yea, it's really awesome.
I should also say this thing is absolutely quiet which is great since I can't stand loud fans or coil whine.
Instructions were also good (and they come in all sorts of languages which is neat to see) OHH and THANKS Phanteks for including a large tube of thermal compound with this product, however I wish more information could be provided about it thou, you know wether it is conductive or what thermal resistance/conductive numbers are but hey at least they gave you a large tube of the stuff and it seems to be rather good.

Cons: Installation was a bit of a pain since the backplate of my previous cooler was not compatible with this I had to unplug everything and get the board out of my case (and my neat cable management and that pesky 8 pin CPU cable) install the backplate then the cooler without the fans put it back in the case and then plug the 8 pin CPU cable install the fans and all the other stuff, do you get now why this might be inconvenient? (Luckily the instructions were clear and I knew what I was doing)

Other Thoughts: Before you buy, ask yourself the following, will this fit on my case? How will I go about installing it and the fans? And will there be any issues regarding RAM heatsink clearance? After all this thing means business and you need to have a build plan ahead of time before you go ahead and place your order.
That being said, this thing is awesome and I thoroughly recommend this heatsink to everyone

5 out of 5 eggsInsanely Quiet

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: - Works as good as most water cooling setups I've worked on.
- Its quiet! My case fans are now the only source of noise in my setup.

Cons: - Unpleasant install on my AMD board
- Huge, filled up a good position of the free space in my enclosure.

5 out of 5 eggsNice!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Upgraded from a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (awesome cooler for the price!!!) i7-3930k hex core, stock 3.2Ghz, running 98% CPU usage for hours compressing video, temps dropped 11C (58C 212 EVO : 47C PH-TC14).

Cons: Easy to install on 2011 socket, no back plate needed, looks like it will be hard to install by yourself for sockets requiring the back plate.

Other Thoughts: Got it brand new for $45, can't complain! I have 3 computers with the Hyper 212 EVO coolers and those are AWESOME especially for the price! I'm gonna save the EVO I took out of my main tower and build a living room steam in-home streaming box.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler, painful mounting on AMD

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Great cooling performance even with stock fans, haven't changed fans or added fans yet but plan to do that when i figure out what would be the best performance upgrade, reviews state the heatsink itself is better than any Noctua

Cons: mounting on an AMD AM3+ board is VERY difficult, you have to force down on the screws to get it to grab the bracket and tight each one in alternating pattern, doing one at a time will cause the other to pop off or become more difficult to screw down, was hoping i didn't damage my CPU or board (sabertooth 990FX r2.0, the AMD system is poorly designed and not well thought out, the bracket needs the pins the screws grab to be just a bit longer or something.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Airflow ever!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Beautiful looking and easy to adjust. The actual set up of the cooler is fairly easy. Hooks into stock back plate as well. Uses one port for two fans power. CPU has been running about 15c-25c below what it used to run at while overclocked voltage and ghz.

Cons: A little hard to get connected to the motherboard if in a mid size case. Have to lightly connect one side first then connect the other in order to secure it properly. Long screw driver needed for easy install. fans are proprietary but are high quality and worth it.

Other Thoughts: Overall this unit is amazing for air cooling, I will as go as far as the best I have had for air cooling!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: I put this thing on a haswell i5 at normal clock speeds. Extreme overkill, but keeps the processor 5-6C above ambient and is essentially silent. Measure 16.5db right next to the cooler. I like the bracket system.

Cons: Very difficult to fit into a mid tower, but it can be done provided your ram isn't too high. Overall excellent cooler.

Other Thoughts: Overall excellent cooler.

1 out of 5 eggsFans are dead.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Installation was easy with clear instructions. The cooler is very large, I could see if you had r.a.m with large or tall heat spreaders this cooler would pose an issue for clearance.
WOW! Temps are lower than i thought they could be as this case is in a confined area.

Cons: Delivered and installed March 16 th 2015

Fans are dead as of today March 27th 2015

Other Thoughts: I have contacted Phanteks

5 out of 5 eggsPH-TC14PE

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Let me start out by saying this thing is HUGE! At first I thought it wasn't going to fit, I ended up having to scoot one of the fans up a little to clear the RAM. Also, it very nearly touches my GPU. However, the performance more than makes up for the size. A 4690k at 4.2 GHz that doesn't even reach 70C under load? Hell yeah!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: You should definitely make some measurements before you purchase this cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsNot unhappy

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Fine cooling, lots of air moving over lots of surface area. Flexible: you can orient it any direction and put the outside fan where you find the clearance. The simple fan clips let you replace the fans easily.

Cons: Fans both went out after about eighteen months, a few weeks apart. On the upside, they announced they were failing (rattle, rattle) before really going.

Still using the heatsink with a single 120mm fan in the middle and only see a ten degree C increase while gaming. Ordering new fans presently, which is why I thought to add a review and mention the fans.
