3 out of 5 eggsLoud fan after a year

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: The cooler works great, my CPU is about 15 degrees cooler than what the stock fan kept it at.

Cons: Unfortunately, after about a year the top fan rubs on the heatsink and is fairly loud. This only happens until it gets up to temperature (a few minutes) every morning when it's starting to get cold outside. I knocked 2 eggs for this.

4 out of 5 eggsNice cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Good color blue, up or down draft, a 120 mm fan fits on this cooler with the provided clips.

Cons: It's not built high enough for medium or high profile ram. No ram higher than 42 mm , (installed on the MOBD) measured from the MOBD surface to the highest point of the memory heat spreader. One egg less for not being made high enough. There should be not excuse why this cooler is not high enough. Only high-end gamers and overclockers with high-end wide cases are going to buy these, so why not make it higher??? Using a high-end cooler with low profile ram is not a good idea !!?? Not a big deal for me since I only do light overclocking, never heavy. I will make my G.Skill sniper DDR3-1866 ram work for this cooler, even if I have to bend or clip off one end of the sights that are on the top of the heat spreader or just keep off the bottom fan. Even with the 120 mm fan on the bottom it still hits the first ram slot. Was only able to orientate this cooler one way with the cooler pipes toward the pc plug-in's and the 8-pin cpu power connector and the bottom 140 mm fan sticks over all the ram slots.

Other Thoughts: The holes on the 140 mm fans are in the exact same place as the holes on my cooler master 120 mm fans. So you could swap the 140's for 120's if you want and the clips work fine. I have a Gigabyte AMD MOBD GA-990FXA-UD5 rev.3.0 and G.Skill sniper DDR3-1866 ram memory. I will give another review when I test this cooler some more.

5 out of 5 eggsRackmount Server

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: System they are in:
Dual socket 2011 Xeon e5-2680 (130watt)
Asus Z9PE-D16 EEB motherboard
NORCO 4220 4U rackmount case.

I did not use the upper fan due to it leaving too little space before the lid of the case. I have each CPU set to override the load limits and they push 150 watts each for days on end and the cpu temps never get over 50C. You don't need water cooling with these. There is easily 1/2-3/4 of an inch between the two heatsinks and an inch between the top of the heatsink and the lid of the case.

Note when installing. Since the mounting screws are under the heatsink, you have to use the included allen key to screw them down. If you have a lot of light directly above you (head lamp or flashlight) you can see through the fins to the mounting screw heads to easily place the allen wrench.

Cons: The allen wrench is kind of long, so when you swing it around you can hit other stuff on the motherboard. Just take your time.

5 out of 5 eggs  Good

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: The cables are sleeved very well. the fans are somewhat laud but I think that that is because the side of my case is completely open. My ram fit fine with plenty of room

Cons: It's big I had to take out 2 fans and move a graphics card, that's my fault not phanteks, no egg drop for stupidity.

Other Thoughts: I'm not overclocking I just got it because I thought it would look cool in my case, and it does

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: The fans are very quiet and almost impossible to notice in my setup which isn't anything extravagant really. They cool very well keep my i7 920 running at 3.0GHz at a cool 80 degrees Fahrenheit normally unless under load which I've only seen it hit 97 under a large load.

Cons: Very large... I mean huge even. barely fits in my 920 HAF chassis. HUGE!!!

Other Thoughts: Overall very very good for the price works well quietly, But I recommend doing some dimension checking before hand. as it not only almost hit my chassis wall but also my graphics card... so just do yourself a favor and check.

5 out of 5 eggs***UPDATE*** High Temps if loose

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Silent without PWM and runs at 1350RPMs on 140mm Fans, Simply Amazing!!!!
Max Temps 62c on Benchmarks and 55c Max on Gaming Like GTA 4, League of legends, Planetside2, StarCraft2 HOTS, and Blacklight Retribution !!!

Cons: Title isn't a con, No cons for stupidity!!!!

Have to put my tech level at 2 for this one, I feel dumb for rushing an important process of my PC gaming rig :(

Other Thoughts: The day I got it I rushed to install it and to my amazement it was loose when I 1st booted up with it, Still got low temps till I ran some Benchmarks (See other review) It touch 72c on my FX-6300 @ 4.8GHz which I consider a danger zone (No damage to my CPU or Motherboard)

I removed it and reinstalled it with fresh MX-4 Thermal compound and tighten the screws (Like stated in the Manual "Caution don't over tighten, Just tighten till the screw reaches its stop point") This was the reason why I didn't tighten, I didn't want to damage it but has to get tighten to the point to where it works lol.

Im proudly running my FX-6300 @ 4.8GHz stable and my max Benchmark temp is 62c and idles around 23c (Temp source HWMonitor)

5 out of 5 eggsAmazeing Huge Cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Awesome performance better then most AIO liquid Cooler Highly recommended to any OC!!! My FX-6300 idles around 25c @4.7GHz, Max load on 59c, Tested on Intel burn test and Fritz Chess Benchmark, Great Manual but could of been a little BETTER!!!!

Cons: Great Manual but could of been a little BETTER!!!! But its still an awesome cooler, So no egg deduction!!!
and its BIG!!!!(Make sure you have clearance on your Motherboard heatsink and RAM) Not that I had an issue I have Mushkin Enhanced 8GB 1866MHz Redline series and it fit perfectly!!!

A little difficulty with Installation But its expected with this size of a cooler But pays off with the performance!!!!

Other Thoughts: Comes in many colors incl. Blue, Red, Silver, Black and Orange!!!

2 out of 5 eggsNeed Lots Of Space

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Didnt have the opportunity to find one. You need alot of room for this cooler

Cons: Once installed i found that i could not fit my ram in any slots at all flipped it around and could only fit two. This is because the heat pipes extend out so far.

Other Thoughts: Using an asrock 990fx extreme 3 board.

4 out of 5 eggsAbout as good as an air cooler gets.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: This cooler doesn't just do its job, it does it very well. It's not cheap, but you easily get what you pay for. It's easy to set up, the fans are very quiet, and its got plenty of push to keep my 3930k stable at a modest overclock over hours of burn tests. Oh, and it matches the blue in my HAF X case.

Cons: I feel bad for knocking an egg just because it isn't very eye-catching, but ultimately a perfect product would satisfy that desire too.

Other Thoughts: I originally bought it because it chose function and price over flash and flair, and I'm still happy with it almost a year later.

5 out of 5 eggsTook A Chance

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: 1. Lower profile, yet still 2 large 140MM fans
2. Very quiet see video, even at max RPM very quiet
3. Very easy to install (at least on AMD)
4. Idle Temp is 22 C which is about 10-12 better than my stock.
5. Very nice blue to match my case.

Cons: Not a con at all I knew this was not compatible with my main board (Biostar 990FXE) those heat pipes hit the VRM heat sink so I had to install with the pipes to the right. which is fine but if you had high profile ram you can see you loose a slot.

Other Thoughts: This thing is very quality made, tons of accessories. very well packed.
I am really glad I took a risk on this I will follow up in a week or so with numbers after a week of gaming and what not.
