5 out of 5 eggsAre the fans even spinning? I can't hear it!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: -Installing it was a breeze, separating the hardware for the AMD sockets and the hardware from the Intel sockets in different bags is a nice touch that I well liked.

-When I first installed it and ran prime 95, I had to go verify if the fans were actually spinning because there was actually not any noise I could notice... at all. And yes, they were spinning.

-Performance is satisfying kind of as expected, can take high loads very well.

-The stock fans are not bad at all.

-I guess this is much personnal preferences but I really like the way it looks in the case.

-The fans cables are sleeved.

-Did not have any compatibility issue with the RAM on a micro-atx motherboard. However I did use g.skill Ares which are not exactly high profile sticks.

-Comes with a small tube of thermal compound.

-Does not put too much pressure on the cpu.

Cons: Nothing I can think of.

Other Thoughts: This is definitely a contender in that price range and, depending on your requirements on the aesthetics departments, should always be considered if this is the price range you are looking at.

I would get this over any closed loop liquid cooling unit at that price as it simply performs better than them and makes less noise.

I am very satisfied with my purchase and will go ahead and recommend this unit.

-Even at max speed, the fans are fairly quiet.

-Somewhat difficult to install.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat are they talking about.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Easy to install, and faces towards the back of my case and not towards the front. I put this thing on my ASUS M5A99FX Pro 2.0 in about 5 min flat. Took the fans off, disconnected the old AMD bracket, bolted in the new brackets, apply grease, screw down re-attach fans.

Cons: Bad reviews from other people

Other Thoughts: I read some of the reviews about how when you hook this to the motherboard the fans face top to bottom on AMD, and not Front to back. This is not true. My FX8350 sits about 27C on idle to small loads, and about 45C while on Heavy loads.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome Fan

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Easy Install
Quiet
Great Quality

Cons: The wires for the fans hook into a Y connector which seats unto the motherboard CPU header. Unfortunately this leaves a great deal of wires sticking about. I tied and tucked mine. The wires are wrapped in color coordinated sleeves so they do not look bad and this length may accommodate some motherboard better.

Other Thoughts: Installed this on an Asus Rog Hero VIII with an Intel 6700K. This is my first try with Phanteks but I am very impressed with the build and ease of install. The dual fans are quiet coming from an older Corsair H80 and overclocked 965 Be. The unit is keeping the Intel 6700k 4.7ghz cool and quiet even when benchmarking and gaming so i'm pleased. high profile ram also fit with no issue.

5 out of 5 eggsWatch Your Clearance

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Well built, with a smooth (polished) block for mounting at the CPU.
2 Fans, one on each side of the radiator, run quiet so far, though I haven't really stress tested the system fully yet.

Cons: Clearance is very tight on the side by the memory cards, at least on my ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero motherboard. In fact, I was only able to mount it with the fans blowing from front-to-back of the case. Trying to mount it blowing out through the top of the case would have the radiator fins pressing down on the memory cards well before the heatsink meets the CPU.
Mounting bracket instructions are a little bit hard to figure out at first. They mark the wrong orientations in red, and show them a bit bigger, but provide no similar easy indication for the right orientations.
My Phanteks Enthoo Pro Series PH-ES614P_BK case has plenty of headroom for the fan, but I could see narrower cases having problems fitting it in.

Other Thoughts: Cables on the fans are long enough to reach the connectors on my motherboard in only one orientation, so make sure you check the distance to the connectors before you clip on the fans, and realize they can only clip on in two orientations.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome tower cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Everything really.
Easy installation on AMD and instructions were simple.
Keeps CPU nearly frigid

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Cooler comes in just under 160mm from Motherboard so is huge. Fit nicely in a Cuboid case.

5 out of 5 eggsJust What My A10-7850k Needed!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my AMD A10-7850k APU nice and cool! It went from 70+ C in the BIOS screen with all settings on AUTO to under 40 C!

Cons: Just make sure you have enough room! I was able to squeeze this baby into my BitFenix Prodigy case but it is a tight fit.

Other Thoughts: I was using the stock cooler on my A10-7850k with Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI in a small BitFenix Prodigy case running Fedora 21. My system would randomly power off and even more so running Dota 2. I come to find that my system was overheating like mad! I fell in love with the Phanteks PH-TC14PE on my FX-8370 so I knew this would be an excellent choice.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good for the money

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: This thing is an absolute beast for overclocking, and at a modest $50 price tag, as well. If you're overclocking something like an i5 or i7 or a processor with a relatively low TDP (I have an FX-8320 which consumes 125W at stock, my results with this cooler are laid out later), you're going to have some golden overclocking outcomes.

Cons: I wouldn't necessarily suggest this cooler for overclocking on the FX line of processors. The high TDP and the fact that the max safe core temperatures for FX CPUs are only 62° Celsius makes them difficult to control temps out of the box, let alone overclocked. I really wonder how the stock AMD cooler that comes with my processor could really keep it cool.

I got my 8320 stable at 4.1GHz with the temperatures never surpassing about 55°; however, I couldn't go any further and couldn't increase my voltage at all without the CPU getting even hotter and approaching the max safe temp. This may be due to my case air flow, which I'll have to test.

Other Thoughts: This is a great cooler for overclocking, perhaps even Bulldozer and Piledriver if you win the silicon lottery. If you want to seriously overclock your FX processor, I'd suggest going for something like a Noctua NH-D15, a wicked CPU cooler that could yield impressive results. For every other CPU with a lower TDP and higher max safe temp, go nuts with this thing. I don't know how this thing fairs against its competition in its price area, like the Noctua NH-U9B SE2 or the Cooler Master Hyper D92 but you should probably research the best cooler in this price range, because there are a lot to choose from.
