Features

Features
P.A.T.S (Physical Antioxidant Thermal Shield) will greatly increase the cooling performance and reliability while deflecting other thermal radiation from other heat sources, such as the GPU, South Bridge, North Bridge, etc. P.A.T.S, ran at a long period, will display significantly better results in an enclosure, closed environment, than a tech station, open environment. In extreme conditions, PATS is able to withstand temperatures of up to 200 degrees Celsius. P.A.T.S is environmental friendly and non-toxic.

C.P.S.C (Cold Plasma Spraying Coating Technology) is a brand new technologic forming deposit that displaces heat onto corresponding metals at a quicker rate. With this technology, the Phanteks PH-TC12DX enhances thermal conductivity on the soldered surfaces of the heat-pipes through the copper deposits.

Phanteks PH-F120HP PWM Premium fans uses UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) bearing, Nine blades and MAFO (Maelstrom Air-Fort Optimization) drive system to achieve massive airflow and perfect dynamic balance. The PH-F120HP fans with the support of the anti-acoustic rubber pad and rubber bar produces low level dB(A) and eliminates vibration. With PWM functions built in, PH-F120HP fans allows you to set speed adjustments for either performance and/or silent operation.

Phanteks PH-NDC is made of high purity Nano diamond-like particles to improve the thermal conductance between components. The PH-NDC is a superb quality thermal compound for heat-sinks. Heat generated by CPUs will transfer to the heat-sinks without reduction in efficiency and resistance.

5 out of 5 eggsIt keeps the CPU cool.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Even though it was installed with shaking hands and sweating forehead (it was my first time installing an aftermarket CPU cooler), it has worked great and I have had no heat issues.

Haswell i7-4770K OC to 4.0 + 26°C Ambient Temperature
Idle (1% Usage) + 50% Fan Speed = 28°C
100% Usage + 90% Fan Speed = 55°C

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Make sure it can fit in your case and over your RAM heatsinks.

4 out of 5 eggsCools very well, but with 1 major oversight

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my FX 8320 @4.4 Ghz under 50*
Looks nice
Fans are quite quiet until they ramp up to max RPM.
Silent unless I set fan profile to "Turbo" in BIOS.
Very high quality thermal compound included. Enough for many applications as well.

Cons: Can ONLY mount vertically on AM3+

Other Thoughts: This cooler is a very good performer. It keeps my CPU nice and cool and is reasonably sized.

However, Phanteks overlooked the fact that some (ok nearly all) people want to mount it with the fans in an East-West configuration on the AMD platform. I wish I'd known this, but it doesn't appear to hurt my performance too much. As I said, my CPU stays under 50 degrees, although it appears I got a "golden" overclocking chip that lets me hit 4.4 Ghz with stock volts. It's Prime95 stable. Realistically, you could expect an average of 53* max temps at that clock speed if you install the included compound correctly in a decent airflow situation.

If you're using an AMD motherboard, be aware that this heatsink has to be oriented so that the fan is sucking air off of your graphics card (which tends to be a bit toasty) I had to dock an egg for this as it's a major oversight.

That said, it still keeps my chip nice and cool through some form of black magic, since the air it's taking in has to be around 40*C under heavy gaming loads.

However, the vertical orientation is great for flinging that GPU-heated air out the top of my system.

If you're using Intel, just buy this if you're considering it. It's somehow way better than a Hyper 212 (from what I hear) and is about the same size. If you're on an AMD platform, I'd still seriously consider this as it will perform well on even overclocked FX 8 core chips.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: -Looks sick when installed in a Corsair 600t white edition
-Temps never go over 47 degrees when playing black ops 2 for an hour with an Intel i5-4670k on stock thermal paste
-REALLY REALLY Quiet

Cons: -Hard to install, Instructions are obviously translated into english from another language. Dont forget to install the black rubber things!

Other Thoughts: Look up HiTechLegion's install video for this, it's only a few mins long but is very helpful.

5 out of 5 eggsnice unit

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: quieter than expected. Granted, it's installed in a Fractal Design Define R4 case, but it's fairly quiet. I can barely hear it over the case fans when the case fans are on low speed.

I've loaded my system up playing games such as Crysis 3 and my CPU temps have not risen above 45° after an hour of gameplay.

Large, but not so large it doesn't fit. Easy to work around. Sits high enough so that it clears the memory heat sinks.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The black and white color scheme matches the interior of my Fractal Design Define R4 case perfectly.

The installation directions that came with it were well written.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it's supposed to do

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Certainly keeps my i7-2600K 3.4Ghz cooler. Stock cooler was running around 30C idle/95C load(prime95 for 1 hour @3.8Ghz). Now running 21C idle/56C load(prime95 for 1 hour @ 4 Ghz). Using ArcticAlumina as the thermo-compound. Ambient temp was stable @ 15.6C for both tests. Overall I am very happy with this product.

Cons: Barely clears the side of my mid-tower case (Antec DF-35). Clearance between memory and fan maybe an issue for some.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Cools my 3770k no problem. 30-34c at idle depending on ambient temp. Doesn't go over 73c on full load with my 3770k at 4.4ghz.

Cons: Software seems a bit slow, but very convenient when adjusting fans. Fans can be a bit loud at 100% but can't really consider than a con when your on air.

Other Thoughts: Had to modify the side panel of my cooler master stacker 830 case for this to fit. Side panel was already modified for my previous cooler could fit. Overall good product.

2 out of 5 eggsMaybe not this one.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: It is working.
The design and colors (Black/White).

Cons: 1. Fans are really loud at 1100 rpm or higher.
2. Since this cooler is using AMD stock backplate, the fans can blow towards TOP not towards rear exhaust fan.
3. The heatsink fins came bent.
4. Not worth $50+

Other Thoughts: After reading many reviews on this cooler, I decided to buy one. I put this on AMD PH 965 and Idle was at 35. I re installed this 3 more times with different thermal paste, and I do not notice much differences. I ended up installing CM 212, and cpu now idles at 31.
Worst cooler for $$. I am thinking about returning it.
