5 out of 5 eggsCompetent Cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: We have three systems with Phanteks units installed-any heavier duty builds are liquid cooled. This particular cooler is mounted on an i3-4150 which is running folding simulations. The folding client is set at "light" which is showing temperatures in the 40C/104F to 46C/114F range. Quite a drop from using the stock cooler. Since repetition breeds familiarity, installation was straightforward. If you're up to some fun, install it using one of the other language instruction sheets! However, if you have a smaller case, a little time and ingenuity may come into play-such as using 12 inch tweezers to attach the cpu connector. This installation is in a CM N-200. As with the other Phanteks coolers, this one is very quiet which is good when you're surrounded with three other systems.

Cons: As has been noted, mounting the cooler to the strip adapters can be daunting. Patience and finesse will do the job.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend to anyone needing a light to medium duty cooler. Since this is our third, we have confidence in the product .

Newegg shipping has been great as always-expected three day delivery and got it in two!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Cooler Phanteks

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Good cooler, not to loud, moves a lot of air. Keeps my temps at 100% load on average about 7-10 degrees cooler than my H60 did

Idle temps 22-30 Celsius
Load temps 40-65 Celsius
powering a i5-4690k

Cons: The install instructions were kinda lacking.
Route your fan cables before installing the fans.
I have this Clicking noise where it sounds like the Fan physically touches the heatsink and grinds but i cannot pin point the exact location. Readjusting the fans doesn't seem to help.

after replacing a faulty corsair H105 extreme with this, and having to wait so long for refund/replacement fan due to weather, i really don't feel like RMA-ing this for a small clicking noise. It doesnt seem to be affecting performance.

Other Thoughts: The instructions say nothing about socket 1150 even though it supports it, i guess the layout for this socket is the same as one of the ones in the instructions "Like most people know that"

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but frustrating install.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Does what it's designed to do exceptionally well.

Paired with an AMD FX 8320 @ 4ghz I have yet to see temps over 40C even under after a long run of Prime95. Idle temps are under 20C.

Looks good. Goes very well with my red/black theme.

Quiet. Quality is very good. Price is right.

I used this in the first completely new build I have done in over 6 years so I don't have much to compare it to. Old cooler was a CM N520 which was loud, and barely kept my old PhII 925 under 50c while gaming. Needless to say this is leaps and bounds above that.

Cons: The install was far and away the most time consuming and frustrating part of my build. Took over 30 minutes and some busted knuckles just to get the cooler mounted onto the provided brackets. Getting the spring-loaded screws to start threading onto the posts on the brackets took so much force that it actually caused my new motherboard to flex so much that it made me uneasy.

Other Thoughts: I don't believe I'll ever be removing this cooler unless absolutely necessary. Installation was a headache.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Smaller than many other coolers while maintaining good performance.

Looks very nice if that's important to you.

Much easier to install than other coolers I've worked with.

Cons: Though it is easier than others to install, a few parts could be easier, like lining up the cooler and getting the brackets on the fans.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks very well.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: It is powerful and has made my cpu cooler by 15-30C. Much better than stock cooler for A8-5600k. Looks great. Very high Quality parts! I was able to overclock my cpu to 4.7Ghz @ 1.54V it was able to stay in a safe temp margin using AMD overdrive cpu monitor and is stable.

Cons: During installation it was difficult to screw both sides in and not have the other side pop up. Took about an hour and thirty minutes to install. Also its fan blocks one ram slot on my micro atx mother board, but the fan can be raised to fix that.

Other Thoughts: My second aftermarket cpu heatsink and fan. Probably would be easy to install for people with more experience.

5 out of 5 eggsPhantek 120 Cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: So I bought this cooler for my AMD 8350 black edition and running the CPU on full throttle the hottest tempurature I've seen is 46'c! Also I wanted to see how cool it would get the CPU during idle so I cranked the included fans up to 100% and I got my CPU temp down to 24'c in a room right at 71 degrees. I am buying another one of these for a friend because I am so happy with its performance and would definitely recommend this product for other AMD users.

Cons: I don't like that the mounting rails for the fans aren't painted but for the price who cares.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but big

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: -Keeps my AMD A10-5800K OCed to 4.2GHz idling at 30C
Never exceeds 50C.
-Looks good with my red/black color scheme
-Relatively quiet
-Comes with PWM fan splitter, which is massively useful

Cons: -MASSIVE, it barely squeezes into my Rosewill Redbone U3 case
-The mounting screws can be tricky to get to with the motherboard in the case
-Heavy, very heavy. Make sure it's bolted down well

Other Thoughts: I received mine with a misthreaded screw on the AMD mount, which was a massive pain. In the end I did need to rethread it. Other than that, the red color is very nice and the fans are pretty quiet, although I may replace them with Noctuas. Good cooling performance overall.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Heatsink

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: 1. Many colors to choose (mine is red for my ROG mobo)
2. Easy to assemble
3. Cool my CPU like my H100i that died (26c idle and 67C on load with I7 3770k OC to 4.6 1.3v)
4. Great bang for a buck

Cons: 1. Fan is a little noisy when on 1000 rpm ( change it with noctua nf-p12 and all is good)
