5 out of 5 eggsCool and quite

This review is from: DEEPCOOL FROSTWIN CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes Twin-tower Heatsink Dual 120mm Fans One with PWM

Pros: It works and does its job! Option to switch fans placement is nice this allows better control of heat displacement within the case/tower.

Cons: Its not free, and doesn't come with artic silver. I'm picky I know.

Other Thoughts: Read reviews where some talk about having to put spacers to keep it quite. Didn't have that problem as long as its metal hooks are placed right! But maybe adding heat resistant rubber spacers would be a good addition to the products development.

3 out of 5 eggsInstallation extremely difficult

This review is from: DEEPCOOL FROSTWIN CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes Twin-tower Heatsink Dual 120mm Fans One with PWM

Pros: Pretty much the most effective air cooler short of models that are borderline to large to fit a lot of cases or interfere with memory modules. That is why I selected it. It is very difficult to be sure if some of the largest models will actually fit based on their size specifications. It is a very effective cooler. I am able to over lock my I7 920 DO from it's stock 2.67 GHz to 3.89 GHz while keeping the CPU cores at around 58-65 C under load with a room temperature of 66 F.

Cons: The installation is brutally difficult. Either the back plate rubber pad is too thick, the mounting lugs too short or the plastic spacer posts too long, take your pick. You have to forcibly press the back plate flanges really hard on order to expose enough lug thread through the heat sink mounting brackets to actually thread the mounting bracket nuts. My fingers literally ached trying to achieve this and I had to have my son help because there was no way I could achieve it on my own. I was fearful that I might damage my ASUS P6T motherboard by putting so much pressure on the backplate.

Other Thoughts: In the end I was able to get it done, there was adequate clearance for everything on the motherboard and within the case and nothing was damaged. The cooling was very effective and quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent air cooler

This review is from: DEEPCOOL FROSTWIN CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes Twin-tower Heatsink Dual 120mm Fans One with PWM

Pros: This is an extremely effective air cooler. The large fans allow it to remove a lot of heat while remaining relatively quiet.

Cons: This is a very big and heavy unit.
There may be clearance limitations in some smaller cases that would preclude use of a cooler this big.
This cooler is heavy. I would have concerns transporting or shipping a computer while this was installed.

Other Thoughts: I was concerned that there might be a rattle caused by the slight contact between the interior fan and the radiator immediately in front of it. I crafted foam spacers that I installed between the frame of the interior fan and the radiator at two points.

Instead of using the included thermal paste, I installed this cooler with Arctic MX-4.

Even though this is a big cooler, it fits just fine on an Asus Z97-A mobo in a Fractal Define R4 case.
