5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: Easy to install (push pins like Intel stock cooler)
came with extra clip, for push pull.
Massive heat-sink , great heat dissipation
Keeps my 4790k at 39C while at 4.8GHz
durable (slipped out of my hands and took a slight tumble)

Cons: Push pins don't feel secure(but they are)
Massive size check Ram or Rad clearance depending on your setup and orientation
also tricky to work arond once installed

Other Thoughts: I added an identical Gamemaxx fan for push pull
my rig

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice and cool!

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: 120mm FAN, includes clips for additional 120mm fan for push and pull cooling. Easy to clip to AM3 socket (once mobo is out of case). 4 Direct touch heat pipes. Size is just right to allow good fit in case and with ram and mobo heat sinks.

Cons: The included CPU grease isn't that effective. I used my zalman super grease instead. Must remove mobo to mount.

Other Thoughts: This is my 3rd heat sink/ fan trying to get my AMD 8320 cool. I think I finally got it! Using the push/ pull I am getting 23C idle! Not sure of load just yet. This is a great cooler and worth the money!

My rig:
AMD 8320 (4ghz clocked)
32GB Gskill ram
MSI 970a-g46 mobo
512gb Crucial SSD
AMD R9 290x video
Antec LanBoy Air Case

4 out of 5 eggsGood coolor for the price

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: Very effective at cooling, keeping my i7 2600k below 60 C overclocked to 4.6 GHZ, while fully stressing the CPU with Prime95 (Arctic MX-4 thermal compound with 2 fans in a push/ pull configuration). Ability to add a second fan on such a modestly priced cooler is a wonderful option.

Cons: The plastic pins that attach the cooler to the board are soooo cheap and bend very easily. If you have never installed an aftermarket cooling fan, this is not the one to start with because the instructions are awful, otherwise not too bad.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend removing your motherboard from the case before installing the fan, then re-install the board.

1 out of 5 eggsMight be nice, if you could mount it.

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: Looks nice
Cheap

Cons: Does not mount to motherboard.
Cheap

Other Thoughts: This seems like it would be a great cooler if it would mount. It relies on the same pins that the stock intel cooler does which in no way look sturdy enough to hold this to the board. They are made of plastic. This should have a metal mounting bracket on the back to be trustworthy. Either way the pins on the mount for an LGA 1150 socket are not long enough to go all the way through the motherboard. Do not reccommend, buy something with a real mounting bracket.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Investment Yet

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: CPU: AMD FX-8350 (8-core)
* Keeps computer cool
* Extremely silent (Compared to stock AMD fans)
* Does exactly what I bought it for
* Versatile for AMD and Intel

Cons: * I accidentally installed it backwards my first attempt.
* It's pretty big. I had to unscrew one of my fans and slide it in later to make room for it. The size would have also pressed up against my RAM, but I swapped the closest stick out for the shorter ones I had installed and it worked out.

No eggs taken for either of these because it wasn't an issue with the fan itself.

Other Thoughts: I live in a hot house, in the upstairs of a hot room with a hot computer that makes everything hotter. There's about zero airflow in my room, which is where I have my computer. As you can imagine, a stock AMD fan was just not cutting it (especially for an 8-core processor).

Before, my computer had been overheating from Final Fantasy XIV (freezing in Dungeons), and GTA V (Couldn't play for more than a half hour before my PC hit over 70C).

Now, not once have I experienced it overheat. Throughout the entire northern Illinois summer in my boiling room it's kept my computer cool, and even cooled down my room a little (no more wasteful hot air needlessly blowing around. This fan manages heat REALLY well).

If you're upgrading from a stock fan (especially an AMD stock fan), it's SIGNIFICANTLY quieter. I use to be playing games with my headset all the way up, and still hear my stock fan. In fact you could hear my stock fan from downstairs. Now, I can barely ever hear it. Even during gaming (granted, while still wearing headphones). If you're not going from a stock fan, I can't say anything because I have no clue what fan you're coming from.

Only big issue was listed in the cons. Being use to stock fans I accidentally pointed the fan blades the wrong direction (Backwards). Fun fact, even if you do that it'll still keep your processor surprisingly cool! ...It'll just overheat the rest of your PC! So don't do that! Reason I put it in backwards was because initially the fan is so big it was bumping my RAM sticks, however I just swapped around my RAM and it fit perfectly.

Overall I'd highly recommend this fan (in fact I already have to some people!)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: Easy assembly, easy to add another fan for Push/Pull.

Cons: None, except you have to have experience to avoid problems.

Other Thoughts: The wire fan clips are super easy to use and better than mounting plastic parts to the fan.

1 out of 5 eggsCouldn't install

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: Looks nice, compared to some other tall coolers. I wasn't able to install the cooler, so I ended up using the enclosed thermal paste to reinstall my old cooler, and my temps are actually down 4 or 5 C from what they had been before! I also ended up using the fan as an exhaust case fan and that is working well, too, and lends a nice blue tint to the inside of my case.

Cons: Couldn't install it, due to not being able to get two of the four push-pins secured to the motherboard (Intel LGA 1150). All four pins looked different from one another to begin with, like someone had already tried to install it and bent them every which way.

Even if all four pins had been OK, this still would have been a chore to install just trying to get at the push pins below the heatsink.

Dissapointed and cannot recommend.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent cooler for the price

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED

Pros: The cooler is decent, providing better cooling than the stock cooler. Led fan included, as well as an extra bracket for second fan.

Cons: The fan speed for a cpu cooler is a little low, and the extra fan that's included isn't even an led fan. I installed a spare high cfm led fan I had left over from a previous Newegg purchase I made.

Other Thoughts: The cpu fans included with the cooler should really be a higher speed. However, with the other led fans available from Newegg, the cooler can be made just that much better.
