4 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooling for the price, but be very careful during installation

This review is from: DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: - Cools effectively even on a Core i7 6700K CPU: roughly 50 C at full load, ~9 C at no load
- Inexpensive
- Can run very quietly at the lower fan settings. Even max speed is not offensively loud.

Cons: - The instructions are extremely minimal
- Part of the mounting bracket is plastic.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN MOUNTING THE PUMP ON THE CPU. If you overtighten the screws that attach the pump mounting bracket to the motherboard, you can snap the plastic mounting bracket. Do not tighten them all the way down, just about 3/4 of the way, and the pump will be held on just fine without snapping the bracket. I learned this the hard way.

Other Thoughts: Great cooler for the price, but be very careful in installation. I mean it. The instructions do not tell you how tight to make the bracket.

5 out of 5 eggs30 degrees C.

This review is from: DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: This cooler works like a champ. I run The Phantom Pain with a 3500 Mhz core and a Geforce 960 and it just barely starts to blow somewhat warm air. It cools amazingly well.

Cons: If it has to be a con, you need a Full size tower. I searched high and low on Newegg and couldn't find a tower that worked for me. I ended up buying a mid tower, but it was too small so I had to mod it to give it extra space for the dual radiator.

Other Thoughts: I bet I could overclock easy with this thing, but I don't quite feel comfortable enough doing the overclock settings. Just playing it safe on my end. Get this setup, go wild.

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage

This review is from: DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: nothing

Cons: I installed this exactly as the horrible instructions showed. It flopped around like a fish out of water. When I tried to take it off, one of the screws stripped. Now the trash is stuck on my motherboard. Im about to send everything back to newegg and dispute the charge and they can have this trash product back, along with the other 3500 dollars worth of components i bought.

Other Thoughts: horrible, do not buy this

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Till

This review is from: DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: This Unit has been AMAZING! I have had this 240 unit since 02/15. was easy to install and did not need any tools which is a perk.

Cons: Well till a week ago this was a great unit, then after running for 9 months strait the pump must have died. My pc was hitting thermal max and shutdown with in just 30 to 45 secs. While this is just a defect the only part that gets the loss of 2 eggs is Deep cool refers that you should go back to the original retailer/reseller for warranty work. and the second part to this is the fact that the RMA/warranty related side of things is all done just threw email. no official forms or web pages on their site to actually fill out for an RMA.

Other Thoughts: This is still a really good AIO cooling unit if you don't want to go as far as a DIY open loop system.

This review is from: DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: cools very good for price ratio

Cons: must pay attention when installing.if you over tighten bolts to cpu cooler it could draw down and break off

Other Thoughts: i put 4 rubber spacers between motherboard and cooler so when you tighten it up doesnt pull down as far to break it off

5 out of 5 eggsDeepcool REALLY cools.

This review is from: DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: My 1st attempt at CPU cooling went to a 6th Gen i7 6700k and an Asus Micro ATX. I chose the Deepcool 240mm setup, it was the only one listed as 1151 compatible that Newegg had in stock. Install went smoothly and quality seems decent. My CPU never goes above 49C overclocked to 4600Mhz, and most usage in normal speed goes between 25-30C on the CPU. It does a fabulous job at keeping temps low, just read directions carefully as there is not much room for mistake when installing. Assemble brackets that goes under CPU before you put motherboard in chassis. And testfit what direction the cooling hoses will come down from point of mount, to the CPU surface without kinking the hoses.

Cons: None really, just keep in mind material is aluminum in radiators, don't over-tighten nuts and bolts.

Other Thoughts: Make sure it fits your chassis form you have chosen, pipes are a little stiff, so be mindful when moving around so you don't tweak the CPU hoses on the cooling block. Now only use will show how durable it will be. Stayed on for 24 hours straight with no problem 1st day.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

This review is from: DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: Excellent at its job, clear tube lets you see the coolant as it moves (or when it doesn't)

Cons: Pulsing light is a bit cheesy, pump failure after a few months

Other Thoughts: I really liked this cooler and am disappointed by the short life span. After several tries, the pump will start and continue to run until the system is shut off but then refuses to restart. The LED still pulses indicating that it is getting power, using a molex adapter for direct power and switching fan ports didn't kick it on. What's really annoying is that sometimes it will work and the pump makes no noise indicating that it's failing...all works perfectly. It almost seems like it's a more basic electrical issue than the pump itself but it's a sealed unit and opening it to investigate would ruin my warranty.

Time to see how Deepcool does on warranties!
