from 92c to 51c
- Pros: i bought this cooler based on the reviews and the materials its constructed of. Well i was right on choosing this fan, even tho its a bit expensive it gets the job job very well! max load with stock cooler with no OC was 92C yikes! while with a 20% overclock and minimal case ventilation this cooler keeps it at 51-54c load
- Cons: the size, but who cares how big it is when it takes 40c off ur card!
- Other Thoughts: if ur running a 8800gt you need this cooler (it has a blue led to) and btw if u dont have a fan connector on ur mobo just use a molex to 3-pin adapter with the included fan controller at it works fine :)
From 90c to 40c
- Pros: I replaced the stock cooler on my EVGA 8800 GT after it seemed to be getting worse and worse, even hitting 102c in some games! Idle was around 50c. I put this on (without shroud) and fired it up. I kid you not, I had to lower my scale setting on Riva Tuner to see my temps. Idles at 34c and peaks under load at 42c! Very pleased! Ambient temps are in the 20's to mid 30's now. And I don't have that scream that I used to have to listen to while running stock fan at 100% just to keep my card from burning up. The HC 92 fan is very quiet even at 100%.
- Cons: The thermal paste was a bit thick, but I went with it, and it seems to be just fine. The memory heat sinks fit most of the chips fine, but I had to improvise using some extra square ones (that were included) instead of the long ones they suggested for the smaller IC's because of the way they were laid out. Hopefully the double stick tape they have on them holds up and they don't come tumbling off.
- Other Thoughts: Good buy with the rebate. Looked at others that may have been cheaper, but would have needed to order fan or memory heatsinks in addition, so this seemed to be the best deal.
Most awesome
- Pros: Replaced the incredibly bad stock cooler on my wife's EVGA 8800GT (all aluminum... Might as well been made of wood...) Still higher that I'd like idle (55C'ish), but at about 1/5 fan speed it never crosses the 70C mark under load. The stock would spike over 80C at 100%.... Very easy install, and tons of heat sinks for memory, etc....
- Cons: None, really...
- Other Thoughts: If you have one of those 8800 series that are pretty much fire starters, you can't go wrong with this.
