With the speed at which computer components now run, there is a tremendous amount of heat generated inside a PC. While case fans help cool the system, they generally only provide horizontal airflow. With that in mind, Vantec introduces the Spectrum Fan Card. Utilizing any available PCI slot, the Spectrum Fan Card serves a dual purpose of directly cooling any PCI/AGP cards surrounding it as well as providing better air circulation with two adjustable fans. Made from UV sensitive material and featuring built-in UV LED lights, the Vantec Spectrum Fan Card lights up your case while cooling it down.

  • newegg PCI Card Styled Fan Array With dual 70mm ball bearing fans with adjustable speeds at 2400~4000RPM on a PCI card styled board, the Vantec Spectrum Fan Card can be installed in any available PCI slot, providing up to 29.54 CFM airflow in vertical direction for increased air circulation and lower case temperature.
  • newegg Light Up Your System With built-in ultra bright UV LED lights, the Vantec Spectrum Fan Card emits mystic blue light for eye-catching fun and enhanced ambience, perfect for cases with side see-through window.

3 out of 5 eggsA little too powerful and loud

Pros: It blows upwards, and it's great for mounting under your graphics card to get some air movement there. The fan speed is adjustable, ranging from decent airflow at minimum to ridiculous at full.
I watercool my GPU, but the VRMs and RAM chips have small passive heatsinks that get very hot while gaming. This fan card cools them off quite well. It also cools the PCH (formerly the southbridge) depending on where you mount it and how your motherboard is laid out.
The LEDs are bright and the color is nice. The card length is comparable to my GTX 670, and the fan card is a bit narrower. It occupies one slot, but mounting something right under it will reduce airflow.

Cons: It's too loud even with the speed set to minimum! At this speed it still creates a good breeze, but it makes a clearly audible whirring sound, even several feet away with the case door closed. I should mention that my computer is almost silent at idle, but I think the noise would be an issue even with a quiet to average computer.
I rewired the molex connector so it runs at 5v. Now, the adjustment ranges from the fans just being able to start at 50% to very quiet but not silent at 100%. It doesn't move a whole lot of air and the LEDs are dimmer, but given how close it is to the graphics card, it should still be plenty to help out the heatsinks. 7v would probably work well too, or using one of those resistor "speed control" wires that some fans come with.
One thing to mention about mounting: the fan card has plastic tabs that get inserted into the PCI slot on the motherboard to hold it up, but this will only work with a PCI or PCIe x16 slot. Any smaller PCIe slot won't extend far enough towards the front of the case for the tabs to go into it, and the card wouldn't have anything to hold it up besides the rear panel screw.
Only comes with a 4 pin molex connector.

Other Thoughts: Great way to add airflow around your graphics card as long as you rewire it for 5~7v, use a speed control wire, or don't mind noise. Keep in mind that you'll need to mount it in a PCI or PCIe x16 slot and use a 4 pin molex connector.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks but not for me

Pros: The fans move air well (very fast air actually)
Was processed quickly

Cons: -My temperature was raised from 77C to 95C on Sapphire Radeon 7870
-The voltage knob falls off

Other Thoughts: So in my case, it seems like you need to have a proper setup for this fan to work, my temps were raised almost 20C because of it.

My sound card was placed in a slot right below it, and was blocking air from getting in, and since it was almost flush from my video card, the fans were moving but weren't moving air either. So contrary to what's expected, I ended up with 0 airflow and temps that would happen if I had no fan. Other people may not have large sound cards, wifi cards are only half size, so the air flows for them.

have space underneath the fan, and put it an extra slow away from the video card to let the air have space to flow.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat GPU cooler

Pros: Helps keep MSI Twin Frozr HD 7950 cool.
~72 C Under Furmark load on a HD 7950 with a working fan.
Can replace broken dual-fan of MSI Twin Frozr HD 7950.
Keep GPU cooler than using 2x 120mm case fan.

Cons: Smaller than expected.

5 out of 5 eggsBRIGHT!!!

Pros: VERY BRIGHT! Consider this a case light with 2 fans included at no extra charge.
Variable switch allows virtually silent operation on lowest fan speed setting.
Can be held in place with 1 screw, you do not need to use up a real slot on your motherboard.
Did I mention it is VERY BRIGHT ? :-)
I placed it between the powersupply and Graphics card,
giving some additonal air flow between the two for theoretically cooler operation. But mostly it is a really cool blue glow that lights up the whole case.
Easy install.

Cons: If you push the fan speed to the maximum speed, it gets a bit loud of course, but you know to expect that already. Best use is at the low fan speeds. More of an awesome case light than some super cooling solution.

Other Thoughts: Great way to light up larger cases.
Doesn't need a slot on the motherboard,
just a card slot on the case and 1 screw to hold it in place.

5 out of 5 eggsMore air!

Pros: I seated this card right next to my CPU to blow more air on it. My PC was shutting down due to thermal failure after getting a new CPU. This helped the air flow and provided additional cooling.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Works as advertised. If you're in need of more air flow and additional cooling on the CPU, this is a relatively inexpensive investment that may very well help your cause.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD FAN

Pros: good fan good air flow I actually remove the fans of my xfx 7950 leave the heatsink alone and plug this fan in like almost quarter inch close to the heat sink of the card and yeah this is actually better than the built in fans in my card, really happy with this one, and I red the return policy it saids 1 year replacement or 45 days return for refund ?? well that is a good deal

Cons: it is really loud when crancked up, but it doesn't matter it suppose to be loud cuz It will spin like 200 miles an hour , it doesn't bother me so still 5 eggs for this

5 out of 5 eggshad it for a yr. still working.

Pros: I had it almost a year now, it runs about 15 hrs a day. fan speed is at about 30% I'm gaming online Neverwinter a lot and keeps my graphics card cool. no need to crank it up past 50%, just have a good air circulation with fan filters on case and won't have to worry about dust building up.

Cons: none atm

1 out of 5 eggsIts dead, Jim.

Pros: Slot design, dual fans, quite, speed regulation

Cons: Died too soon.

Other Thoughts: Bought 6/13 off another retailer. Case temps started getting high few days back. Pulled it out of my PC last night, both fans completely seized up. Do Not Buy.
