3 out of 5 eggsAnnoying Rattle

Pros: I works good and I didn't have too much trouble mounting it. Bought it for a hard drive that was reported as running hot and the hd still works great and cool.

Cons: After about a year and a few months it started making this rattling noise, like when a fan starts to go bad. The thing is it would come and go, so everytime it came around it would bug the hell out of me. I made sure there was nothing touching the fan, I played with the plastic piece on it, I put some grease on it and nothing, still does it. Finally I flipped the fan and hd upside down and it went away for a couple of weeks, but now it's back. I leave my pc on all the time and if I'm just in my room and it's rattling away it irritates the hell out of me. My guess is it's just not quality enough to last that long non a pc that's always on.

Other Thoughts: I'm probably going to just unplug it soon and let my hd run hot, but with how many hard drives I've been through over the years I'm attributing that this one is still working do to the stupid fan, lol. Perhaps I'll just wait till I get a new one in the mail and endure a little longer.

2 out of 5 eggsNot very effective

Pros: -Somewhat Cools

Cons: -Included screws didn't fit on HD (Too Small)
-Low quality fan construction
-High pitched fan whine. Typical of small fans
-Not worth losing space for a heatsink

Other Thoughts: Running 8 drives in my box and using 2x 120mm fans to cool does a much better job than using this product individually on a drive.

5 out of 5 eggsChilled

Pros: Cheap, sturdy, quiet - These really do the job of cooling the drive to extend life

Cons: It's so minor I won't even take an egg off, but on some cases you have to bend the rails to get the drive in with this mounted to the bottom

Other Thoughts: I have bought dozens of these and never had a failure

4 out of 5 eggsVersatile. Blows air.

Pros: It is versatile with several drilled holes for easy installation.

Cons: The flat head screws had the wrong thread size to fit my new WD hard drive, I had to dig out some panhead screws from my parts heap, which made for a tight fit in my case's hard drive slot. Still, it installed fine and it blows air.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 4 eggs because of the screws.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but noisy

Pros: it cools the HDD decently, like it's suppose to
build quality is good

Cons: it's the loudest thing in my case
(Gigabyte Aurora 570+AC Freezer 7 Pro+MSI 8800GT OC, this is the loudest fan out of all)
it does not fit very well with the tooless slot in my case.

Other Thoughts: I removed the fans to reduce the noisy, the aluminum part itself cools the HDD too, just not that much.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: looks, connects nice.

relatively quiet

Cons: as usual, with this type of cooler the user may experience some dificulty installing in bay on HDD.
I'm using an Antec 900 and could only use two screws with the cooler mounted over the drive cage mounting lip not to the HDD directly.

Other Thoughts: it is still blowing air on the HDD but the heatsink is almost a non-existant factor.

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet, but loud

Pros: Although my hard drive doesnt exactly need it, it keeps it nice and frosty. :]

Cons: Even though its only 26db, it was the loudest thing in my case o.O

Other Thoughts: I unplugged it and it works just fine with just the heatsink. ^_^ Not AS frosty, but still chilly :]

5 out of 5 eggsSilent, Slim; Does the job

Pros: Very Quiet, Slim profile, screw match hard drive

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: For the price, you couldn't ask for for. Highly recommend. I use this with a fan speed controller, and it's virtually silent.
Most cases do Not consider HD's as an area that needs cooling. They simply don't generate enough heat for attention, but leaving them completely un-cooled is exactly what caused you last 4 HD's to die.
This will extend the life of your HD's in any case, and esp. so in situations where airlflow stagnates around. the HD bays.
Buy several of them, but beware that even though they are very slim, and do not stick out at all (well, about a mm) they will still prevent stacking HD's tight. This is good for you; don't do that!

4 out of 5 eggsA little noisy

Pros: I had a fan control attached to this, and you must fun at full speed or it's a little noisy at slower speeds.

Cons: n/a
