2 out of 5 eggsnails on a chalk board

Pros: Has reduced internal temp by 4 degrees.

Cons: Arrived with the front panel shifted out of place, only one of the two fans work and is very loud, before install pc ran at 46 dB, with hear sink fan running runs at 52 dB. Instructions for installation are also confusing and doesn't install securely, holding the entire drive by four tiny screws put under pressure by the top panel.

3 out of 5 eggsit blows :)

Pros: works like it's supposed too, quieter than i thought it would be

Cons: somewhat difficult to install

Other Thoughts: very generic looking from the outside, but that's what i wanted. you will need a magnetic screw driver to get those tiny screws in. start 2 on one side then get the other 2 on the other side.
take your time with it and it'll look good when you're done. face plate accepted paint very well, matches my plain jane case perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Inexpensive, very effective

Cons: Is not a hot swappable drive bay.

Other Thoughts: I have been using these in all my computers for over 7 years and I believe because of it I have never had a hard drive fail.
In addition to the heat sink I also remove the label on the drive and coat it evenly with heat sink compound to ensure good conduction of heat away from the drive.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to install if you take your time and are creative in following the sketchy directions; very quiet fans; solid construction.

Cons: The "optional" air intake panel (faceplate) appears to have been designed for a different unit, and so none of the screw holes line up. But that's OK since I don't think you are intended to screw it into the frame that holds the HDD anyway!! All the instructions say is "Install the air intake panel (optional)." Which is hardly instructive, especially since the illustrative photo for that step (6) has been switched with the photo for step 5, making it even more confusing. But once you figure out that the photo for step 5 goes with the explanation for step 6 and the photo for 6 goes with 5, it begins to make more sense.

Other Thoughts: In my case, I didn't need the "optional" air intake panel , so I skipped the issue of getting that to fit entirely, but I can see how an inexperienced person who needed the faceplate could have troubles understanding what to do.

5 out of 5 eggsEggellent product!

Pros: Keeps my 500GB SATA hard drive from overheating. This drive used to get so hot that I couldn't touch it, this has solved the issue!! Yay!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just make sure to keep the front fans clean, vacuuming them every once in a while works great.

5 out of 5 eggsRunning Three Years Strong

Pros: I have had this product in my PC for three years with out a single problem. I have removed the front cover to clean the filter many times with no problems.

Cons: I remember that assembly took some effort it was a tight fit. Care should be take with the front cover I can see where if you force it it will break.

3 out of 5 eggsat least it works

Pros: CHEAP, keeps my HDDS fairly cool

Cons: Be careful, you can break the front plastic pieces very easily when trying to install it.
Also, if you have two of these they don't exactly fit on top of one another inside a case because everything is misaligned. I had to remove the front plastic panel of one of them to fit them in (then accidentally broke the panel because its made of cheap plastic)

3 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: claims to cool the HD and looks cool from the font of the case

Cons: weighs a lot more than I expected. ridiculously hard to mount the HD and then the face plate and then get it in the slot. As stated in other reviews nothing aligns and I thought I was going to break it when attempting to assemble every thing. After a 30-40min fight I got it and it looks nice, I just hope that I dont have to take out my HD or I might not but it back in...

Other Thoughts: Have yet to test "performance" gains or too see if it really is worth it. I kinda wish that I would have gone with the StarTech FANDRIVE2BK Plastic 5.25" Drive Bay Hard Drive Cooler, maybe next time. now that is all in there it is ok, but the overall design is some what silly.

1 out of 5 eggsvery bad crapmanship!

Pros: it's cheap and it runs?

Cons: Very, very bad design. Nothing seems to fit properly with this unit. The screw holes are misaligned, the front face plate breaks easily and does not flush with the computer. There are gaps everywhere. Just trying to mount the HDD to this thing was a royal pain in the rear end because of poorly design brackets. no clear instructions on how to properly mount the unit. I had better understanding on how to install this thing from this review site than from their instructions. In the end, I manage to get it in my case but it took a lot longer than I care to admit.

Other Thoughts: I bought this thing because it was cheap but even then, one shouldn't have to spend half and hour to an hour trying to figure out how this thing fits. In the end, I guess you get what you pay for.
