Feel the power from Yamaha's SW-315, 250 watts of power to be precise, delivered by a 10" down firing speaker. The subwoofer has a frequency response of 20Hz to 160Hz. The response can be adjusted by the continuously variable high-cut filter between 40Hz and 140Hz so you can set the subwoofer's response to precisely match the rest of your speakers.

The back panel has dual inputs so you can hook up either line- or speaker-level input signals. The phase switch lets you easily match the subwoofer's phase to the rest of your system. The heavy duty speaker terminals accept banana plugs, bare wire and a variety of other speaker connectors.

The Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology cancels out speaker impedance so the driver has a smooth, linear motion for clean sound even at the highest volumes. QD-Bass uses pyramid shaped plates to send the sound out in four horizontal directions and reduce reflected resonance for a purer sound.

  • newegg Advanced YST Technology The YAMAHA SW315 utilizes Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) to cancel out impedance for a perfectly linear motion, resulting in higher sound pressure levels and outstanding overall performance.
  • newegg QD-Bass Technology Employing down-firing drivers with square, pyramid-shaped reflective plates, QD-Bass (Quatre Dispersion Bass) technology enables efficient sound radiation in all directions for greater impact.
  • newegg High Dynamic Power Capable of handling 270W dynamic power, the YAMAHA SW315 subwoofer delivers top-notch bass sound, making it an ideal match for your speaker system.

4 out of 5 eggsLoud, crisp

Pros: Have only used in small-medium sized rooms, where it is plenty of sound. This thing really does slam, way more sound that low quality 12s from logitech or something similar. I didn't pay the $250 it costs now.

Cons: Auto-standby feature is pretty useless. This is the only thing I docked an egg for, even on the low setting it takes a good amount of bass to turn on. It only works if you only listen to loud music or loud movies, but as someone else stated, it'll go into auto-standby during quiet scenes then have a delay when it kicks on for an explosion.

Other Thoughts: I bought this subwoofer before my 2nd year of college, and have since graduated after half of my 5th year. My roommates used and abused the thing, cranked all the way up. 4 years of heavy dubstep and hip hop as well as some rock/metal mixed in. It handles it all. It will distort if you push it too much (just can't hang with professional quality PA subs), but what can you expect from a 10".

4 out of 5 eggsDecent sub, decent price

Pros: Sound quality and loudness are nice. Thought the price was decent for a 10" speaker.

Cons: Auto standby can be annoying as sometimes it will turn on and off during a movie. Been playing with the high/low settings and different setup configurations but have not fixed the issue yet.

Other Thoughts: Sub is paired with an Onkyo TX-NR515

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Sub

Pros: Had this thing for over two years now, and it's still going good and the sound is still just as amazing. If placed correctly in the room you'll be surprised it's only a 10" sub. A great buy

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This sub has a neat feature to turn itself on standby when it's not in use.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing sound!

Pros: Got this to replace an aging (15 years +) Sony sub. Tried a Polk Audio PSW10 and it was OK but kind of boomy and did not sound as good with music as the Sony so I thought I would give this one a try after reading all the good reviews and it was on sale at the egg for $189.99.
To my ears this thing blows away the Sony and the Polk, especially with music. Bass is tight and as others have said it will shake the walls if you ask it to.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Running this sub with Polk Audio RTi8 fronts, CSi A6 center, RTi A3 surrounds and a BIC America FH-6 LCR for back surround on a Yamaha RX-V765.
Love this Yamaha SW315. I consider it the second best buy I have ever made for Home Theater with only the CSi A6 center beating it out.

3 out of 5 eggs2 Years/ light use/ burnt smell

Pros: Got on sale for 199$ from the Egg and immediately made my theater sound great (although a little tweaking with freq cutoff dial and volume dial is needed to balance the base and get rid of distortion.)

Cons: Last week (2 years and 1 month after buying) I was admittedly showing off my sound system a bit and turned up the volume (on the sub not my amp) and played some heavy bass. About 5 minutes in I caught a whiff of ozone or "magic smoke" and traced it back to the port hole on my SUB!! Turned it off and now have to test the voice coil to see if it changed the resistance. Warranty is only 1 year (seems weak for a $300+ sub MSRP from Yamaha).

Other Thoughts: My amp is only a 500watt 5.1 channel and it was hooked up to the unpowered sub-out so there's zero chance I ran too much current to it. Also I have never turned this sub up beyond 50% the whole time I've owned it, so it's not "worn out". I'm pretty disappointed by this on an otherwise very pleasant experience with this sub. I hope it's repairable, otherwise I will not be buying Yamaha

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product, poor shipping

Pros: Great sound. The product performance rates 5 eggs, but there are shipping issues.

Cons: The subwoofer was shipped via UPS. The shipping box was clearly dropped and/or kicked around a zillion times, as it came torn in several placed. Upon opening the the foam padding the subwoofer was found to be broken into numerous pieces. The subwoofer itself had two corners smashed in by around one inch. When connected, it didn't power on. A return was asked and Newegg promptly granted an RMA. The replacement came quickly via UPS and was this time was in excellent condition.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive Sub

Pros: Nice tight clean bass, it's hard to believe it's only a 10" sub. Excellent build qaulity made with higher end high qaulity components.

Cons: The specific subs design makes positioning and location even more critical than other down firing subs. This may be a con for an average consumer that doesn't understand how to setup a system properly.

Other Thoughts: I had a lot of choices in this price range and this yamaha simply sounded the best compaired to all others in its range including some priced several hundred to almost double more.

It makes sense that this sub sounds so good. Yamaha has always engineered excellent sounding high qaulity audio components.

Invest in good qaulity cables for the sub connection, it's worth the extra money.

Give this sub time to break in. It won't seem that impressive for the first few days. After about 5 days of good use, this thing really came to life in a very impressive way.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound all around

Cons: Bass can be much louder in other rooms. wont necessarily be good for someone in an apartment. in my old house it was in the living room the bass seemed louder and more noticeable in other rooms of the house.

Other Thoughts: Puts out quality bass across a decent range.

Definitely NOT for hip hop music it will not shove like a 12" sub and its best in a surround sound setting.

Overall it's a great subwoofer

4 out of 5 eggsGood sub with affordable price tag

Pros: Loud, pretty deep, and warm bass. The size is just right and looks very nice. I have a small room and this sub rattle my ac panel at approximate 60% power..

Cons: poorly packaged, could use a double shipping box instead of just the original box from yamaha. The sub was not damaged but the protective foam surround it was shattered to pieces which scared the bejesus out of me. Thank Godd the sub survived the shipping ordeal.
Another con is the sub output kinda boommy sound instead of more punchy like the Klipsch i used to own. But this is just my opinion though, you will be able to tell from your own experiences.

Other Thoughts: I tried to connect it to the Onkyo receiver using Left & Right audio RCA cable but it did not work. Finally got the sub working using a Mono (single) cable connected the Left input 2 to pre amp( subwoofer) connection of my receiver. So it is really help to read your manual instructions :) Peace !
