Feel the power from Yamaha's SW-315, 250 watts of power to be precise, delivered by a 10" down firing speaker. The subwoofer has a frequency response of 20Hz to 160Hz. The response can be adjusted by the continuously variable high-cut filter between 40Hz and 140Hz so you can set the subwoofer's response to precisely match the rest of your speakers.
The back panel has dual inputs so you can hook up either line- or speaker-level input signals. The phase switch lets you easily match the subwoofer's phase to the rest of your system. The heavy duty speaker terminals accept banana plugs, bare wire and a variety of other speaker connectors.
The Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology cancels out speaker impedance so the driver has a smooth, linear motion for clean sound even at the highest volumes. QD-Bass uses pyramid shaped plates to send the sound out in four horizontal directions and reduce reflected resonance for a purer sound.
Pros: Frequency response, adjustable output level, adjustable highend freq response, and multiple connectivity options all help to make this a superior product that adapts extremely well to existing or future systems. I'm using two of them (front L & R) and powering two JBL Stadium Z's from their output...AWESOME. I'm hearing things unheard before at COMFORTABLE volume levels! I do appreciate too that the power consumption drops to 0.5 Watts once they lose signal an go to power down mode without having to physically turn the speaker off!
Cons: None...
Other Thoughts: Pricey perhaps, but the quality and features justify.

Comments: I got a Velodyne sub for christmas and plugged it in and found that my other speakers had just as much if not more bass. We paid the same amount and got the Yamaha with alot more power. When it comes to bass power is everything.

Pros: . Excellent look. . Front control . Auto on/off standby. . Tight puches, great HT experiences with 5.1 or 7.1 setup . Excellent with music, and regular TV viewing. . After few weeks of usage the sound gets even better.
Cons: Had to lower volume due to it's power. wISH THEY CAME IN GLOSSY PIANO bLACK
Other Thoughts: Have 2 of those bad boys, hooked via a monster "y" splitter to my Pioneer VSX 1019 A/V receiver. Placed in the same room, the sound is overwhelming.
Paired with 2 Polk Monitors M-70's (Front) & 2 Polk Monitors M-60's ( Rear) and CS2 central channel speaker: the sound is absolutely excellent.
Compared to my same setup in my Main HT, but replaced these boys with 2 PSW 505 Polks ( much bigger and badder boys), to "timber match" my Polks speakers, I honestly can not find any difference in the bass effects between the two.
If you are on the fence between the SW 315 and the PSW 505, I would get the yamah b/c of their smaller size and downfiring speaker palcement. But all in all the sound is very very similar.
All bought from new egg. When is newegg going to go public so we can recoup some of our investment....lol...
Newegg has the best prices, services & shipping all arround, trust me I have looked and tried.

Pros: These are superb. In fact as others have pointed out, you'll be hearing more than just boom, they fill in the low end with smooth bass tones as a proper servo sub should. For the price here these are a steal. I've got 2 of these guys running on monitor risers in my theater/listening room and the bass response is unreal - something you'd hear on triple the price. Nice, tight and unrelenting when necessary and smooth and not too "woofy" when the listening environment does not demand it. Got a third for the bedroom and dumped a more mainstream brand and never looked back.
Cons: Lack of available finish options on Newegg...not going to dock anything for that, since they are available...
Other Thoughts: Make sure you follow proper room placement and generally two are better than one if you want some nice smooth bass response :). These are a great price to take advantage of a dual sub setup.

Pros: Makes a big difference to the existing system. Movie watching is great. Highly recommend
Cons: Not clear about the rev switch. I have a yamaha v863 receiver and it does not calibrate the sub in rev mode. i had to set it to normal to callibrate. Owners Manual recommends to set to rev. Bit confused about that.
Other Thoughts: newegg did one of the fastest free delivery within 2 days.
