SP-HF1800A is the new 3-way Hi-Fi wooden speaker system with 50 watts RMS audio output. With this 3-way design, SP-HF1800A uses Hi-Fi crossover technology that makes each speaker unit respond to high, middle and low frequency respectively.

SP-HF1800A integrates all sound into the perfect enveloping effects around the listener with magnificent, balance, vivid, and richer quality. The lower 4” woofer is for long and deep bass without distraction less than 500Hz frequency. For personal sound preference, just adjust the Bass and Treble controls.

There are two audio inputs with 2 RCA and 3.5mm sockets on the back for connection to PC/TV/DVD player/Game consoles. 4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Sounds pretty darn good for the price. Infact I'd say they're better than most around the same range. This is for somebody looking for speakers that provide a full sound and isn't doctored too much like most "computer speakers" or "gaming speakers." Most computer speakers tweak the sound to provide something that I don't understand.. These are more flat, which is what you would really want, so more of the natural sound levels come through and you can adjust via software to your liking. These aren't gaming speakers in a sense that you will get a ton of bass, if you want bass get really good headphones or 2.1+

I really like these. I would recommend them to a friend.

ohhhh! Also, the volume control is really nice and smooth and the volume curve is really nice so you aren't fighting between 1/32" to get the right volume.

Cons: The input cable is too short. I had to use the right speaker on the left side to reach my computer.

5 out of 5 eggsJust awesome

Pros: Feels solid, produces great sound. I discovers that there's music that plays at greater than 320kbps and my headphones could keep up but my desktop speakers were a joke. This was a great buy.

Cons: Wish the knobs had more obvious level markers. It's hard to tell if how far you've turned it. No big deal though.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat speakers for price, until they fail.

Pros: Good not great sound, nice heavy construction, look great on your desk

Cons: Left speaker will fail you over time. I've had these for around 4 years and today it finally stopped working. Reading other reviews it looks like I got lucky that they even lasted this long. Save your money and spend 200-300 for a quality set of powered speakers, You'll thank me in the long run.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers! Very nice!

Pros: Great speakers, great sound, better for listening to music on my PC.

Cons: The only Con is weight. The box these were shipped in was heavy and thus cost more than usual for shipping. That being said, they are totally worth it. They are tall and heavy but produce great sound so they are worth it to me.

Other Thoughts: I plug my headphones into this pair of speakers as I did with my first pair of Genius speakers. Now with the stronger amplifiers, I can hear better with my headphones too. These are actually my 4th pair of Genius speakers and I have always been pleased with them.

3 out of 5 eggsSounded good while they lasted

Pros: Good sound, especially for the ~$40 price.

Cons: Connection to the left speaker failed after 2 years. Putting a headphone plug partially into the jack and wiggling it could cause the left speaker to intermittently reconnect. The left side of fully plugged in headphones didn't work either. They were worthless after the side cut out.

Also, they are indeed fairly large. Note the height measurement to make sure if fits into your desk setup if height is at all restricted.

4 out of 5 eggsRight Speaker Dead

Pros: Good sound, nice cabinets, good controls, multiple inputs (front & rear), headphone output, wood cabinets (good for speakers), plenty of volume.

Cons: The right speaker did not work.
Uses an inefficient transformer based power supply.

Other Thoughts: After a bit of troubleshooting I determined that it was probably a wiring problem so I took the speaker apart and after more testing it turned out to be a bad solder joint at the speaker terminal on the positive wire from the amplifier. A quick application of solder flux, a touch of the soldering iron and the speaker now works fine. Enjoyed them all day Sunday without issue.
In the interest of full disclosure I did buy the open box item but that should not make a difference since the defect was a bad solder joint from the factory.
They're freakin big. :P I didn't pay attention to the dimensions so I was a little shocked since I started out looking at regular desktop speakers but I'm totally happy with them.
Make sure you adjust the bass/treble controls to the middle detent before you get started.

3 out of 5 eggsMassive

Pros: Produce a large amount of base and treble and sounds pretty good.

Cons: The bass is pretty overwhelming even when treble is turned up and bass is turned down. , not the loudest set of speakers but they can do the job.

Other Thoughts: They are freaking massive almost to the point of being way too big for me to handle,

4 out of 5 eggsGenius Speakers

Pros: Used it for listening music, watch movies and playing games. Nice and clear sound. Enough power for small-mid room. Wood case. I didn't measure Frequency response, but quite satisfied with the sound quality.
Good choice worthy $50

Cons: Amplifier died after 2 years of usage.

Other Thoughts: Going to order a new one.

4 out of 5 eggsWell Engineered--A cut above your typical desktop speakers

Pros: I love the three-way design, which adds to the weight but it's worth it. It's nice to be able to turn up the tweeter and bass cone to your liking, based on your room acoustics and the particular sound file. I've dj'ed a 15x30 ft. room with these speakers and they gave plenty of volume. The bass isn't thumping, but there's enough clarity to keep me happy.

Cons: The blue LED is extremely bright, I just put a piece of red electrical tape over it so it looks like a dull purple. These obviously don't compare to studio monitors in terms of sound quality, but for gaming and desktop listening I couldn't really ask for more.

Other Thoughts: The midrange and bass speakers appear to be the same cones--I would prefer that the bass cone be a bit larger, but I suppose that would require too much power draw and reduce the potential volume.

5 out of 5 eggsVERY good speakers! On sale? Get them NOW!

Pros: Power & clarity.

They sound great at low, moderate and moderate-high volume. At 50W RMS, they don't do really HIGH volume that rattles windows. But if you're looking at speakers systems without any sub, you don't want that anyway. For listening to music in a regular-sized bedroom or study (up to 15x15 ft), they're great for working/background music, and movies that are about something, not just special effects. :-)

The amp is well matched to the drivers, so at maximum volume they still sound right unless you also turn up the bass, then low frequencies sound like flatulence. But at those levels they're also making my desk and the floor under it vibrate -- a little.

Cons: At max volume and boosted bass, hip-hop begins to distort in the low frequencies, but it's already too loud by then.

In case you have very limited space, you should know that they're a bit tall. On the other hand, the only smaller pair I found with decent sound quality had problems with bursting capacitors (M-AUDIO). I give these 5 eggs "despite" the size because size isn't an issue for me. But if you have limited space, find your tape measure and make sure you can fit these on your bookshelf or whatever. Or to approximate, stack two 6-packs (cans) on top of each other. Each speaker takes up about that much space.

Other Thoughts: These were not on sale when I got them and I don't regret purchasing them at full price, even while I'm looking at them almost half off right now. These about as good as 2.0 computer speakers get. I don't need a subwoofer, but depending what you listen to you might. If you're accustomed to heavy bass, plan to add a sub, but don't rule these out. It would be better to have these now and add a sub if you need it, than get a cheap 2.1 system.

If you're not shopping for a home theater system or high-end gaming speakers and just want your music to sound good while you work, these are definitely for you.

Mine arrived with the eq knobs both at or near minimum and I generally use software for eq and leave hardware knobs level, so for a while I thought they were much weaker than they really are.
