- Other Thoughts: I cant believe that "NEWEGG" sale this product. Sub power is off with no reason and this problem has been posted creative forum for year. Still now no official words from Creative. The worst, even if we RMA, there is no gaurantee that new unit will work fine...
Junk!!!
- Pros: Heavy. It looks like it might be a good set of speakers...
- Cons: This is not a good set of speakers. I have only owned these for less than 2 months and they are already shutting down on their own. This has been a known issue for Creative for over a year, yet this unit is still being pawned off on unsuspecting victims. Don't waste your money on these speakers...
- Other Thoughts: I have a set of very old 2.1 speakers that sound better than these. I have not been happy with the woofer since day 1. I wish I would have returned it on that day. Now I am stuck with a worthless manufacturers warranty. I imagine that they will send me another unit that will fail in a short amount of time...
Serious reliability problem
- Pros: Sound is superb.
- Cons: I’ve now had 2 of these systems. Both units failed (either the power supply or the wireless controller circuit). Creative support told me that there was no repair and that the no-longer sold these (i.e. discontinued). Newegg was gracious enough to ship me a replacement from stock. A month after I called Creative support these are still on their web site. I don’t know whether the support person was new or they changed their policy. The whole experience was very frustrating. It was also very expensive for Newegg who paid shipping both ways twice. That amounts to $140 not including staff time for processing 2 RMAs and the multiple calls I had to place with them since I had discarded the original packaging.
It is my guess that Creative is getting these shipped from China and had discontinued their spares and service organization. They are pushing some these costs off on their distributors. The design and packaging seemed top quality.
- Other Thoughts: I don’t know if the assembly company is using unreliable components or if Creative’s design engineer blew the power supply design. I’ve always admired Creative’s innovative sound products but I’m never going to by a speaker system from them again. Not worth the hassle.
Finally, the wireless transmitter disrupts my laptop wireless concection which is in the same room. I expected this and didn't try to use it at the same time I had Creative's speakers powered on.
