4 out of 5 eggsSound Great!

Pros: Easy assembling, comes with easy labeling stickers, worth the money, has an amazing bass tune.

Cons: The box said it was compatible with television sets but I haven't seen how that is possible since there aren't any cords to plug into a tv.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Read my previous post

Cons: read my previous post

Other Thoughts: I forgot to mention. I highly recommend getting a sound card, preferrably by creative. The software I mention is actually from my sound card NOT the speakers. You shouldn't use any speakers on your onboard sound card, you will always get horrible performance from anything "Onboard". A sound card and the card software is priceless for any speaker system.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speakers

Pros: They sound great! They are still going strong after a year. I use a projector as my computer monitor so i needed true surround sound to go around the room for when i watch movies, tv, play games, etc. These get teh job done. The software that comes with the speakers is great, its like having a digital studio with all the options you can change. Do not feel overwhelmed, there are also default settings and simple interfaces that creative is famous for.

Cons: as others have stated, the cords are short. If you are truly going to place these around the room, you need to get longer cords or place the computer in the center of the room(12x12 in my case) I chose to get longer cords, which i believe were regular 1/8in. headphone extention cords. The only cord that can not be extended is the right front speaker which controls the on/off switch and physical volume control(5-6ft. cord) so the subwoofer has to be next to it. This con does not take away from my rating of the speakers. They are computer speakers and are not home theater speakers, they were made to stay close to you at your desk not around the room.

Other Thoughts: Speaking of the subwoofer, there is a knob on the back for the sub's volume, but the software also allows you control over it as well. The sub is not as powerful as I would like when you turn the sound up pretty loud, I suppose that is where the bass redirection comes into play, but i don't really mess with that setting because I don't understand it. I rarely have the volume up that high though. The speakers are powerful enough to rattle my windows and annoy anyone else in my home at any time of the day.

If you want a system that sounds great all around these are it, but if you want more boom boom pow to outperform your neighbors 12's in his car, I suggest moving on.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Speakers!!!

Pros: Not only do they look cool, but they sound amazing. The subwoofer mighty powerful too. It turns into a club in my room when I turn the volume and bass up!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Much better than the Cyber Acoustics and Logitech rivals.

5 out of 5 eggsNice.

Pros: Great sound!

What? ...should there be more?

Cons: Short cords. For the rear speakers especially, they're less than like 15' so be careful if you think you're going to put the rear AL THE WAY in rear. If you wanted, tho... All you'd need is a composite A/V cord extension.
WOW!!! That light is SOOOOOOO bright! I thought people on here were exaggerating or something, but NO! That thing is like distracting. So what I did was I used piece of black electrical tape which happens to be the same color and texture as the speaker and just taped over the light. Now I don't have a bright light AND I don't see an ugly piece of tape!
No real downs to this system. It's an analog true 5.1 surround sound system, not a 2->5.1 "Conversion" system.

Other Thoughts: If you want a nice, cheap, real 5.1 system, creative has everything else beat. If you want a huge, expensive, digital, all-in-one system, then this isn't for you.

4 out of 5 eggsBitter sweet.

Pros: Crystal clear quality, great performance, powerful bass woofer.. nearly everything the specs and summary promised is there. The design is definately worth bragging about, the little base that the desktop speakers sit on is stable and doesn't reduce look, the cords for the two back speakers are really long, so I could easily mount them on the two walls beside me for surround sound. These are some of the best speakers Ive ever owned.

Cons: Im a really patient person, and I never expect my product to be perfect. Granted, I expect them to work as advertised, but I understand imperfection when it comes to these things.

The bass subwoofer sits below me, so it's a pain to crank up the base iwhen I want to.. and

Apparently, these things pick up other radio signals. There has to be two or three neighbors of mine with some powerful two-way radios, because I can hear their conversations all the time. It's not very loud, but it is crystal clear as if I had a radio myself without any capability of talking back. It's also always the same people, so I believe if they changed frequencies, I'd stop hearing them, and they're the only outside interference I pick up.

Other Thoughts: I wont label this as a con, because it could very well much be my own hardware. But when I first got these and plugged them up, I could only hear out of the left and right front speakers. I checked all my connections, even switched some out to see if I had different results and didn't, so i plugged them all back correctly.

I started messing with the Realtek HD Audio Manager program that my motherboard came with (build in sound card), and made sure it was picking up each connection and it was. It lets me choose which device is plugged into which outlet, and I made sure "Center/subwoofer", "Front Out", and "Rear Out" was selected for the appropriate connections but my sound still only came out of the front speakers.

I compromised, and on the Audio Manager selected "Front Out" for each of the three connections, and voila.. they all work. Even if they aren't only barking out the noises coming from behind, they add to the surround sound factor. So, Im content.

3 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: The speakers produce true 5.1 surround sound. I appreciate the the volume control is on one of the speakers, as opposed to being yet another wire with a separate control. This just adds clutter but Creative got it right and made the right front speaker, volume control, AND headphone jack all in one unit.

The bass is pretty loud, and has an independent control knob, so that you can have high volume without overpowering bass, or vice versa. Bass and volume are like salt and spices, I shouldn't be salting my food by adding spice, that's something different. Creative got this right too.

Cons: Unfortunately, I was a little dismayed by the sound quality coming from the speakers. High and mid range seem a bit distorted at moderate volume, even though bass is "ok".

However, my Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 system circa 1999 produces better quality and cleaner sound than these speakers do. That's pretty sad. Even the bass on that old system thundered along better than this woofer twice its size.

Aside from that, the rear speaker wires are far too short. For example, one of my rear speakers is only 3 feet from the woofer, with a doorway in between them. I just wanted to run the wire around the door frame and back down to the woofer. No dice. To make use of these rear speakers you're going to have to either run the wires on the ground or have them suspended in the air.

Another pet peeve; the wires connected to the PC are hardwired to the woofer unit. This means that if you damage a wire, the whole unit is either trash, or will require professional repair and/or parts.

Other Thoughts: If you want true 5.1 sound at a reasonable price, this setup is for you. However, if you want high quality, clean sound, and don't mind spending a bit more, I'd look elsewhere.
