5 out of 5 eggsBig Dissapointment

Comments: I normally don't rate products at all but I didn't want anyone else to go through what I went through. I bought these speakers about 4 months ago and they really do HISS alot. Now I'm stuck with them because Newegg will charge me a restocking fee that comes up to be around $30 something. Please be WARN and DO NOT get these speakers. What a big disappointment!

5 out of 5 eggsJonathan

Comments: For about a year now I have want to transform my bedroom into a multimedia center since it is where I spend the majority of my time. After buying an Audigy 2 platinum for 5.1 purposes the next logical step was to purchase 5.1 speakers.

I spent a lot of time wavering back and forth between the Klipsch 5.1's and the Logitech Z-680. After about a month of reading through copious reviews of both, I decided to spend the extra $60 dollars and lose some features from what have been called the crème de le crème of pc speakers.

Two and a half months later I am very satisfied with my purchase. The bass is powerful without being obtrusive or distorting the highs. The mid and the high ranges are both well defined with little to no distortion at the maximum volume level. The control pad is very useful since it allows me to adjust the center speakers, sub, and rear speakers individually. This is very convenient for DVD's when all the voice is coming out of the center. No more twitching in movies without a lot of whispering since I can raise the voice volume without having to worry about the ambient noises being raised as well.

There is a bit of static when the speakers are up all the way. This can be minimized by making sure the treble settings within your sound card are in the middle and not at the top. If you notice a rather large amount of static try resetting or choosing a different PCI port for your sound card.

In the end, if you don’t mind shelling out some serious cash for some room-filling sound, these speakers will rock your socks off.

Comments: I had to send my back to Klipsch for service after 11 months of usage. It costed me about $20 plus in postage. That's ok, because they send me a new set in return. They also send me a extented warranty as well. So I can't really complain much. These speakers are not perfect, but they are the best 5.1 pc speakers in the market still.

Comments: These speakers have had problems, but have been resolved. For those of you who have a Non Working set, Chances are it's the Transistor that went bad. you can go to klipsch.com and sign up for the extended 2yr warranty, even if you have had them over a year. Klipsch will exchange them for a NEW, yes that's right, a new working set revision 03 model that has all the issues resolved. These speakers are the best. Cant wait until the Promedia Ultra's come out.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Comments: I own both Logitech z680 and Klipsch Promedia 5.1 I have to give my overall pick to Klipsch. They simply produce better sound when used with Audigy 2. No, the difference is minimal, but for some reason Klipsch just sounds warmer. The bass is in perfect ballance with midtones and highs are simply brilliant. Z680 are a great set of speakers when it comes to power, but they are less ballanced. Overall Klipsch looks more professional when it comes to speakers, however the remote control is definitely better on Z680. You can't go wrong with any of the two, but I would recommend to spend extra 50 dollars and get the best there is.

Comments: I had the speaker system for just under one year when they failed. It seemed to be a problem in the crossover in the powered subwoofer or the control box that caused the satellite speakers to quit working. It even affected the output on headphone jack on the control box. The sub still functioned, and attaching the satellites to another receiver verified that they still worked. Klipsch replaced the system with a brand new one (not a refurb).

That problem aside the system sounds great (with a SoundBlaster Audigy), and it is nearly as good as my home theatre speakers.

Comments: Bummer, after reading about the problems with the 5.1s, i don't know if i wanna build a Klipsch 9.4 1000 watts sound system anymore.

9.4 = (5.1) + (4.2) + 1 100watt sub

Maybe i'll go for the Logitech Z-680 + Klipsch 4.2.........
