Whether you're into games or movies, you have to have great sound to totally immerse yourself into the experience and that's what you get from Logitech's X-540 speaker system. The FDD2™ (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology produces a uniform sound field anywhere in the room. A ported, down-firing sub-woofer moves massive amounts of air for a powerful bass response.
Color coded jacks make setup quick and easy, allowing you to spend time on what's really important: eliminating the bad guy and hearing him scream. The satellite speaker stands rotate to become wall mount brackets and the center speaker has a clip that allows it to mount to most LCD flat panel monitors.
A wired remote control pad has a volume knob, headphone jack, bass control and a button for "Matrix Mode". Matrix mode turns regular stereo signals into a 5.1 audio stream.

Sweet & Cheap
- Pros: Sound quality is excellent. Lots of power at reasonable volumes. Center speaker "clips" on to your monitor - it's made for an LCD, but unscrewing the base and putting it on backwards lets me balance it on my CRT. Remote, while wired, has a decently long cord (5') with all the right things on it - power, volume, bass, auto-bypass headphone jack, and matrix mode. Matrix mode is a nice one-touch solution for listening to music through all channels (Remember to turn it off when gaming with EAX)
- Cons: This set definitely has a "sweet spot" - these are NOT meant to be maxed out and will distort at higher volumes. Leave the bass and volume knobs somewhere in the middle, and you'll get great sound. If you absolutely have to have your already-half-deaf ears blown out, buy a higher wattage. Still, this set is sufficient to cheese off your neighbors, if you live in an apartment.
- Other Thoughts: Don't listen to the review that says they're small and cheap - they're sturdy and just the right size. As always, shipped so fast my head spun (though, I gotta stop ordering on weekends.. why's my paycheck gotta come on Fridays?)
Great upgrade
- Pros: I used to have the speakers that came with my hp computer, and they where decent, i mean hey i got sound. But i just installed these and have been playing games and music with it, and the difference is night and day! Anyone with sub par or even ok speakers, it would be worth it to buy these. Plus the price is awsome! xxx bucks at Bxxt Bxy, xx here!
- Cons: I had a hard time fitting the outter two on my desk and i did not want to mount them so they are on the ground but im still getting great 5.1 surround
- Other Thoughts: Unless you have a great set of speakers, pick these up!

Goooooood.
- Pros: Simply great for the price- as indicated by everyone else. The bass is pretty strong for its size (3 or 4" i think....) Speakers are good, you really can't go wrong with this system. for 70+ dollars this system is amazing.
- Cons: Alas... nothing is perfect. The audio line for the 2 rear speakers should've been longer, but was just perfect for my setup. The front speaker's monitor mount sucks, just better off putting it somewhere else. Sound is good, but not quite as crisp as I would want it. (but still amazingly good for the price). Uhm, like any other speakers its a dust magnet...
- Other Thoughts: NOTE!!! This system is probably mostly strictly made for computers. The wires aren't nearly as long as they should be if it was for a TV setup. Also, there are better systems out there, but hardly any for this price.
- Pros: Very good sound and good bass. Can hear them though much of the house from the computer room. I like how they can sit on the desk or mounted to the wall.
- Cons: Cords could be longer but it guess they're the standard length.
- Other Thoughts: Pretty good for under a hundred bucks.
low budget solution
- Pros: Exceptional for the price.
- Cons: Had some hum initially, but it was the source I was using (1/8 stereo jack from TV headphone out). Uneven response at very low frequencies (60 Hz and below). Wired remote and no optical inputs could be a problem for some people.
- Other Thoughts: Really good computer speakers; not made for home theater. I've worked in car and home audio and I think they sound good overall after you play with your source EQ a bit. I have my PS3 passing through my computer via digital optical into a gigabyte motherboard and I control everything through realtek and dolby interfaces. Because of this, I don't care about the remote being wired. Cables are the right length for apartments dorms, etc. After switching the source, there has been no audible buzzing or humming. I have had it turned all the way up to test for distortion or amplifier hum and none is apparent. As always, great service from newegg and quick delivery.
