Whether you're into games or movies, you have to have great sound to totally immerse yourself into the experience and that's what you get from Logitech's X-540 speaker system. The FDD2™ (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology produces a uniform sound field anywhere in the room. A ported, down-firing sub-woofer moves massive amounts of air for a powerful bass response.
Color coded jacks make setup quick and easy, allowing you to spend time on what's really important: eliminating the bad guy and hearing him scream. The satellite speaker stands rotate to become wall mount brackets and the center speaker has a clip that allows it to mount to most LCD flat panel monitors.
A wired remote control pad has a volume knob, headphone jack, bass control and a button for "Matrix Mode". Matrix mode turns regular stereo signals into a 5.1 audio stream.

Sweet & Cheap
- Pros: Sound quality is excellent. Lots of power at reasonable volumes. Center speaker "clips" on to your monitor - it's made for an LCD, but unscrewing the base and putting it on backwards lets me balance it on my CRT. Remote, while wired, has a decently long cord (5') with all the right things on it - power, volume, bass, auto-bypass headphone jack, and matrix mode. Matrix mode is a nice one-touch solution for listening to music through all channels (Remember to turn it off when gaming with EAX)
- Cons: This set definitely has a "sweet spot" - these are NOT meant to be maxed out and will distort at higher volumes. Leave the bass and volume knobs somewhere in the middle, and you'll get great sound. If you absolutely have to have your already-half-deaf ears blown out, buy a higher wattage. Still, this set is sufficient to cheese off your neighbors, if you live in an apartment.
- Other Thoughts: Don't listen to the review that says they're small and cheap - they're sturdy and just the right size. As always, shipped so fast my head spun (though, I gotta stop ordering on weekends.. why's my paycheck gotta come on Fridays?)
Great upgrade
- Pros: I used to have the speakers that came with my hp computer, and they where decent, i mean hey i got sound. But i just installed these and have been playing games and music with it, and the difference is night and day! Anyone with sub par or even ok speakers, it would be worth it to buy these. Plus the price is awsome! xxx bucks at Bxxt Bxy, xx here!
- Cons: I had a hard time fitting the outter two on my desk and i did not want to mount them so they are on the ground but im still getting great 5.1 surround
- Other Thoughts: Unless you have a great set of speakers, pick these up!

- Pros: Great sound quality, relatively small, powerful and cheap (in price, but not in design). Great for gaming and music.
- Cons: The wired remote isn't detachable.
- Other Thoughts: I bought these when I figured out I could finally have more than 2 channels of audio. I tend to use the matrix mode often for listening to music; it's a very nice feature. When these are turned up about halfway, they can be heard well all the way from my upstairs level. I showed these to a friend and he bought two pairs (one for his computer and another for his TV). I strongly recommend buying these.
Poor Design Kind of...
- Pros: Easy to setup. No software to install (of course they are speakers). Sound is great for gaming.
- Cons: Since the wires are "hard wired" into the speakers you might not be able to put them where you want.
The biggest problem is the wired remote. Since it's "hard wired" into the subwoofer I can put it on my desk since I only have 3" holes to run wires/cords thru.
I wish they would have put a plug on the sub-woofer end so I could drop the cable thru the desk holes.
- Other Thoughts: Make the wired remote detachable.

- Pros: Surround sound.
Sleek modern look.
Good bass.
- Cons: The controller knobs should have had some texture.. the smoothness is sometimes hard to grip..
- Other Thoughts: It's easy to setup plug the red into the red, green into green etc.. Book tells you which speaker is for right,center,left, etc..
For the price I think it's a good deal.
Also if you experience "noise" "static" try changing your settings on your equalizer.. I had mine to full bass, and the speakers (not subwoofer) would sound very static-y..
Setting my equalizer to none fixed the problem..
This thing can't play lower then 50hz it can do... pretty good. Lower then that it's not good.. but I don't think much of you play anything @ 50hz anyway.
