Great Set for Music
- Pros: Excellent quality and balanced sound.
Great for music. Speakers have very good clarity which is also good for listening to normal dialogue in TV and movies. Comes with a nice remote control.
- Cons: USB connection: I always prefer some sort of hardware control so i can still control it when the computer goes psycho or freezes.
MSRP is kinda ridiculous: Got mine for $120 EVERYTHING controlled by remote (not a single button on the speakers or sub itself): What happens if you lost the remote? Size: both the speakers and the sub are huge.
- Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this sets over the Z-2300 if you are using it mainly for music. I tested the 2 side by side, and the Z Cinema has better high and mid clarity than the z-2300. And most importantly, the overall tone is much more refined and balanced on the Z Cinema.
The Z-2300 has very nice treble and strong bass, but it sounds like it is missing a chunk of frequency in the middle. The bass is also wayyyyy to strong for my liking. (But that seems like the trend everyone likes nowaday....overly excessive bass)
You can't turn it on as loud as the Z-2300, but I can't imagine anyone turning it to the max volume inside a house. I never go pass half the volume when I use it in my room.
great sound
- Pros: these speakers sound great, the quality stays outstanding even when you really start pushing the volume towards the top. the fact that all the hardware is built inside the subwoofer is nice (less wires to deal with) the LCD display on the front of the right speaker matches my computer
even when using the aux. in port, the sound quality doesnt change
- Cons: the software for these speakers isnt very user friendly, and isnt very versatile either, i was hoping to be able to customize these to my computer more than i was able to.
i only knocked these speakers for one star because of the limited functions of the software, but i decided that my review was going to be more focused on the sound
- Other Thoughts: the sound of these speakers is really top notch, even when compared to my friends z-2300's. the sound was crisper and better, but just not quite as loud. however, dont get me wrong, these things can still pack a pretty good punch. if you are looking for a good quality sound and arent too worried about the software application aspect of these, then no worries, get them. if you want the versatility and big bass hits, get the z-2300's, as far as im concerned, im happy with these.
Very NIce.
- Pros: I paid $80 dollars somewhere eles. Still love newegg! These sound simply amazing for the price I paid.
- Cons: Rather large for a desktop. USB software and drivers are comparable to onboard sound. Does not come with 1/8" cord to hook to sound card. Has to be used from remote. Wish it had a volume knob and bass knob on sub.
- Other Thoughts: I use these in my garage. I tried the software it came with to use the USB and did not like. Volume was to low and tweaking and adjusting the EQ was just not there, plus a big on screen display pops up when controlling the volume with media info( do not need),bloated if you ask me. Instead I installed the speakers via a 1/8 cord like most speakers and utilized my Audigy2ZS card. After a few tweaks the sound was incredible. I reviewed this because it is impossible to find a solid review on these. Nobody tested this hooked up the way I did. I consider myself to be a more than average audio buff. And for my personal taste I would say they just sound great. Bass can be a little muddy but location is the key. At low volume the bass can be a little weak(thats why I wish the sub had a knob). But at high volume thats no longer an issue. At high volume they are very clean. Mid and highs sound very natural but can be adusted bright and still sound clean.
