4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Huge base

Huge sound

Lots of connection options

Metal grilled speakers and woofer are great, everythings built well and looks nice.

Good mids/highs (imo, I know many think these speakers suck but these people are often Audio-pro peeps)

Cons: At low sound, right speaker doesn't work (has to be really bed time listening). Remedy is to turn the speaker volume up, and the volume level down on the device the speakers are playing from.

Base ratio is pretty high, would be nice if you turned down the base setting and it just adjusted the subwoofer and not the speakers as far as the lows go. When you turn the base down the speakers themselves can sound a bit "tinny" because they also lose base.

Other Thoughts: I like these. Music sounds great, TV/Movies sound great but the contrast between both often requires a few equalizer settings to be changed or the base will blow you away. I also live in an apartment, and these things are absolute overkill in my room as computer speakers. I have yet to even turn them up past half way

2 out of 5 eggsFaulty Subwoofer

Pros: When they're working, sound is great. Woofer is extremely powerful. Speakers are good. A bit tall so may be awkward for some monitor configurations. But I was able to raise my monitors up and put the speakers behind them and that works fine for me.

Cons: Volume is touchy. You can turn the knob just a tiny bit from zero and it will still make no sound. Then a little more and just one speaker will make noise. This is just an issue for when you are trying to use them at extremely low volumes, so it doesn't really affect me.

**now for the main con**

These units have faulty subwoofers. The woofer occasionally just stops working. I have to unplug everything and plug it back in, sometimes multiple times and then it just kicks back in full throttle.

I don't know what Logitech did wrong with this part but since it is such a massively widespread issue, I don't understand why they haven't issued some kind of a recall to keep customer loyalty.

Other Thoughts: Despite it working nicely when it works, I would not recommend this.

4 out of 5 eggsGood bass

Pros: -Good bass
-looks good
-volume and bass knob
-headphone and mic plug in holes

Cons: owned since 2012, cable came loose somehow inside the unit and i had to send it back for repair. Warranty covered for free but it was a long process because of shipping. Came back good.

sometimes the volume of the speakers cant compare to the big bass.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Speakers

Pros: THE BASS! These little guys bump. They produce a high quality sound especially for the price.

We use these a lot our downstairs since our upstairs has full surround sound speakers. During parties these would rival the 5.1 surround.

Recently had a flood and the speakers were submerged under 3 feet of water. I waited about a week to try to turn them on again...
10/10 would buy again.

Cons: I am not much of a sound expert to know if all the mids are getting hit or not.

I really do not have any complaints.

3 out of 5 eggslasted 2 1/2 years

Pros: Great sound for the price, mostly used for watching movies, shows and playing games in my bedroom, gf would use them for music while she cleaned.

I'm pretty sad my TV speakers sound horrible :c

Cons: Died fairly quickly, was expecting at least a year more of use. Never really pushed them that far due to us living in an apt and having neighbors.

4 out of 5 eggsBest. Bang. Ever.

Pros: All the reviews regarding the subs as "filling the whole house" and warnings like "apartment dwellers beware" are true.

I live in a 700+ sq. ft 1 BR apartment and the whole place booms like an EDM club. Wait for the drop...and the 808 kicks.

I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of complaints from our downstairs/side neighbors. This is the selling point on this 2.1 set - mind blowing subs.

Another pro is that there is more surface area on my desk after I replaced my Mackies with these.

Don't mind the "short cables" complaints. Not sure what kind of desk they're using, but it's enough length for an 8 footer table.

Another pro is that the sub includes 2 aux ports to turn this into a 5.1, but don't hold me to this since I haven't really looked into it to confirm. I literally set these up about 15 minutes ago and began this review while listening to some music.

Cons: Once you've gone the studio monitors route, you tend not to look back. I've been banking my PC sound experience on studio monitors for about 10 years now.

Highs/mids are washed out - but I'm "downgrading" from a pair of BAMF Mackie MR5 MK3s due to the wife's complaint about it being big and clunky. It should be about a month or so for it to burn in so I'll wait before casting hard criticism towards this. But then again, I paid $119 for these speakers, so this minor con is justified by its price.

However, if you're coming up from something below the $200 range, these will not disappoint at all.

Other Thoughts: I'm contemplating on two things:

1. Tempt death and defy the wife; keep the Mackies and return these (although they are nice for the price range).

2. Add a sound card to my mobo to see if it'll produce crisper highs/mids.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound at a great price

Pros: Awesome sound, decent price

Cons: Some people complain about it at high volumes.. honestly if you don't want to shake the house it's a great room filling sound.. The cords could be longer thats really my only complaint

1 out of 5 eggsGAMERS BEWARE!

Pros: I typically love Logitech products. However, these 2.1 THX Certified Speakers are HORRIBLE when it comes to games. These speakers have no issues with the following...
1. Movies - VLC, Windows Media Player, PowerDVD
2. Games - Starcraft
3. Internet - YouTube

Cons: HOWEVER, when playing games on Steam...the speakers CONSTANTLY, SNAP, CRACKLE and POP.

1. Batman Arkham Origins

Only game I am currently running on Steam, so I could not test others. Also, if you google these speakers it is a pretty common problem. I should have done more research.

As soon as I go into playing this game there is constant distortion all throughout gameplay...Very annoying!!!

Paying $120+ for a product that does NOT provide good sound quality...does not seem worth my time or yours!

All drivers on my computer are up to date. I tried tweaking all the Audio options in the Control Panel and in the game itself. Nothing made a difference.

System Specs
1. MOBO - Asus Maximus Formula VI
2. i7-4770K
3. Radeon R9 290x - X2
4. SSD and HDD
5. 32GB Corsair Vengeance

Other Thoughts: Spend your money on a different product...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat speaker set, very short cables

Pros: This is a very solid set of speakers. Unless you are an audiophile, these work great for desktop music and gaming. They won't be as awesome as a solid surround sound system, but good surround sound is surprisingly tricky to set up and really only marginally better whereas these are plug-and-play.

Cons: The cables are WAY too short. The cables are only about 6 feet long. You should keep speaker equipment, no matter how well-shielded, far away from other computer equipment. For me, that means the subwoofer sits on the other side of a 5.5 foot desk. Then the distance to the on-board audio on the motherboard is another few inches and the distance to the subwoofer is a couple more. In other words, I'm currently straining an audio cable to just barely make this work and I'll be buying a longer cable on Newegg shortly. The other cable to the right speaker is also not perfectly relaxed due to the size of my desk...and my desk is pretty small compared to a lot of desks out there! Even if I put the subwoofer on the other side of the desk and next to the computer, the left speaker cable would be too short and it seems flimsy compared to the right cable. Logitech needs to add 2-3 feet of cable to ALL of the cables in this speaker set. Cabling is one area that shouldn't ever be skimped on.

Other Thoughts: I own the Logitech Z5500, the Logitech X140, and now the Z623 speaker sets. The Z5500 is the best 5.1 computer speaker set I've used in terms of audio quality. The X140 has laughable audio. The Z623 is similar to the Z5500 in terms of audio quality but doesn't produce as rich a sound. The materials of the Z623 feel like they are of slightly lower quality than the Z5500, which seems to be in line with the general consensus of this model. RMS wattage, frequency response, and quality materials in construction all seem to matter when it comes to reproducing audio.
