4 out of 5 eggsGreat sound!

Pros: Excellent bass, pretty good detail in the Highs and the Mids are actually present. Easy connection options, good amount of inputs. DTS and Dolby sound pretty good with minimal speaker tweaking.

Cons: Takes quite a bit of option and speaker tweaking on the PC if you're connected via analog. Good sound card/onboard is a must.

Other Thoughts: I just upgraded from the Logitech Z5300e 5.1 system which was analog only and had just one main input. The overall sound is better on the z906 but setup was much easier on the old system. I think the main difference is that the old system was primarily intended for PC/analog consoles at the time and the z906 is intended for just about everything you can throw at it except HDMI. It is almost a receiver. Which makes sense as the analog connection isn't tuned for games out of the box. Digital seems fine though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speakers for the price

Pros: Incredibly clear details
long wires
really loud if you want it to be

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I own a Audio Technica ATH M50 and I will be honest, the sound quality between the 2 is at best very small, if not none. I have no idea why anyone would say the Z906 lacks detail.

5 out of 5 eggsBe Prepared For Bleeding Ear Drums

Pros: Great speaker system, clear and crisp sounds. Movies or gaming or music, you'll be set for some bleeding ear drums with a sense of hyper-realism when that bullet ricochets next to you. LOUD, powerful sub, heavy satellites. The control pod on the device is nice, switch between inputs on the fly.

Cons: Expensive (so?), no TOS link cable included (you're going to WANT to have that). Software support could be *better* but I'm not knocking an egg off because it's probably just because I'm running this on *nix

Other Thoughts: I've had countless Logitech products, this makes my 3rd speaker set from them. Look, if you want a speaker system that will have deaf people telling you to turn these down; look no further; half-power and I can hear them across a 1800sq ft house no problem. They're expensive, so what? These are most likely the greatest speakers you'll get for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsLovin it!

Pros: Sounds CRISP and base is nice and deep! Have it hooked up to my ASUS sound card and my PS4 though optical TOSLINK.
WOW
Destiny is just amazing!!!!
The cars scare me in Assetto Corsa!!!!
Well worth the money to me. They also have really nice mount threads for easy installs!

Cons: A bit pricey.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate from 11/16/2011

Pros: After using this set for a while, my conclusion is if you use them as entertainment speakers by hooking them to your TV or BlueRay/DVD player. The sound is GREAT for listening to music. However, watching movies are another story. See con for more details.

Cons: I can only hear the sound of the movies not the dialogs, no matter how loud the volume is. In other words, I barely hear what they are saying in the movies.

Other Thoughts: Just like others have said, this set is not for home entertainment system. This is for PC entertainment system (need to have a good soundcard).

If you listen to the music more than watching movies, this set is as good as Bose is. You'd save few bucks.

Logitech, please make an improvement then YOU WILL BE THE BEST!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound for PC

Pros: This is a really good sound system for PCs.
-great bass

-great satellites

-not limited to just having to use their satellites

Overall the sound is just great!

Cons: Viewers are probably wondering why I removed an egg if this system is so "great," well here's the con(s):

- Not better than it's predecessor (the z5500)

- Price, and only BECAUSE, it is not better than it's predecessor (call me ignorant if you choose); well that and it doesn't look as good (in my opinion).

Other Thoughts: I needed a new sound system for me PC after I moved my actual home theater sound over to my big screen to I went searching for a decent sound system for PC. the z5500s are longer made, and (Auction) posters want TOO much for it.

So I looked at what was Logitech's current and I saw the z906, researched it's specs, and compared with the z5500. To my surprise it wields slightly less power than it's predecessor, while at the same time costs more than what the z5500 used to cost, which is why I removed an egg.

However (Sorry Newegg), I found a good deal on (Auction) for this system as a used product, and it works flawlessly nonetheless. Despite it's short comings, I am very satisfied with this product. If it weren't for price I'd give it 5/5.

An important thing to note: This is NOT a home theater system, if you want a sound system that will WOW you for a Home entertainment system, you are looking in the wrong section (you want the home theater section).

Furthermore, I am using this system with Creative's 5.1 Soundblaster Zx (soundcard).

4 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for your buck.

Pros: Great 5.1 system with lots of preset speaker and output configuration built into the control unit.
Sound quality is beautiful, from crystal clear highs, to booming bass, this system will satisfy even the most picky of folks.

Cons: I went from a Klipsch 5.1 system that lasted about 12 years faithfully.. Loved it. This system sounds beautiful, but one thing that really bugs me is it has no EQ on the control unit. At times the bass is too much, wish I could turn it down a lil'.
Otherwise, the preset speaker config is kinda odd, some games don't use the mid speaker, others do, regardless of configuration..

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Brilliant! I love them. The sound is magical.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Using optical digital and a Sound Blaster ZxR sound card, not the onboard audio chipset.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid sound
Good value

Cons: Doesn't come with a Toslink cable

Other Thoughts: You NEED an optical audio cable to get the most out of the system. Without a digital connection to your audio source, the sound is somewhat underwhelming and out of balance at times.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality PC surround

Pros: Digital input capability Toslink cable
Clear Crisp noise free sound
Easy wall or ceiling mountable satellite speakers
Remote controlled DTS Dolby digital control box
Separate volume control for each speaker in digital mode
Stylish, well build rigid materials.
No other external amp needed, subwoofer amp drives all
Multiple inputs to run all your devices, PC, TV, DVD, Bluray, Stereo, CD or MP3 player with one click change of input.
Clear distortion free sound at high volume.
Perfect for PC studio
PERFECT FOR VIDEO EDITING IN SURROUND - my primary use.

Cons: Subwoofer frequency good, just not quite low enough, almost there.
Speaker wires fairly long for rear satellites but if you have a large room you will have to add to them.
DOES NOT include a digital toslink cable for digital use, however does come with analog surround cables.

Other Thoughts: Let me say that for 326.00 dollars, this is the ONLY solution I could find that allowed me to have a true THX certified Dolby Digital surround sound system that really works perfectly for true digital surround without having to buy a separate amplifier or sound card. Will work great with HD onboard sound, crisp and clear. To get this kind of sound, it normally takes about 600 dollars or more and you have to get a system that includes an amplifier separate from subwoofer. This system amplifier is in the subwoofer but drives ALL SPEAKERs with no need for additional equipment. I have owned another Logitech 2.1 system for about 7 years and it still works fine, I actually put it on my TV after getting the Z906 system. I cannot believe how good this system really sounds. It has options for 3D stereo sound for your MP3s or music files that are not designed for surround. The system decodes the music file and puts part of the sounds through the rear satellites and vocal sounds come from front and center channels providing a true surround sound with your normal MP3s. You can connect 6 devices to this system. I am more than pleased and very impressed. Way to go Logitech. You are always thinking of those of us who have a need for quality PC sound for work and play.
