5 out of 5 eggsFantastic set of speakers.

Pros: Best PC speakers i've ever owned. 10 years still going strong.

P.S. The successor to this model, Z-5500, can also be regarded in the same league.

Cons: 1) LCD display backlight will shimmer and die, but after many many years of usage.

    2) There will be some static sound, again, after many many years of reliable usage.

5 out of 5 eggsFlat Out Awesome

Pros: I have owned this set for close to10 years with 0 problems. I now have them hooked up to my HDTV as a surround sound system. One of the biggest Pro's is the wire hookups that allow you to change out speakers should you ever need to. The newer models have direct line inputs that only let you use the Logitech speakers that come with the unit. Another Pro is the ability to hook it up to multiple devices with different inputs.

Cons: There are only 2 Con's I can think of. The first is the display on this particular model is very hard to read and see unless you are at one exact angle. The second is that the bass is almost too much and I wish there was a way to better tune it. Right now I have it one notch from the bottom and it still can overpower a room if the volume is up.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this set again in a heartbeat. I've owned this set for close to 10 years and it still performs like the day I purchased it. If you ever come across a set or even just the sub/amp combo at a decent price, I suggest you jump on it! Someday I will abandon the Logitech satellite speakers it came with and go with another set, but for now as always, these work beautifully.

    5 out of 5 eggsZ680

Pros: I was searching newegg for sales and ran across these oldies but goodies. I am right now blaring music through them owned them for 6+ years i have had the cops called me numerous times because of these speakers. They are hands down the best i have ever owned and would put them against any modern 5.1 system. Of course i have squeezed more power into them by wiring in an amp but the handle it its a shame the stopped making them

Cons: if you own them you know there is not a single con to them after 6 years + and still just as loud and crisp as the day they came out the box

Other Thoughts: if you find a set BUY THEM! your not getting mine :)

5 out of 5 eggsJust wow.

Pros: Bought these back in 2003-04 and still use them to this day! Some of the best speakers I've come across. I've bought many Home Theaters in box over the years and very few compete with this set in the price range.

Cons: They Discontinued them with newer model that has integrated wires and less power.

Other Thoughts: Glad to of owned these for the past 8 years. I can't believe they still work and sound great. If only I could find another set of solid speakers like these.

    4 out of 5 eggsGreat

Comments: I've had these for a little over a year now, and am always impressed with the sound quality, and this is coming from a complete audiophile.

In order to get the truly best sound out of these, it is an absolute must to tweak the control panel settings from your sound card. 125 range creates a very nasty tone, so it should be turned down in order to achive the best bass possible.

Only reason I had to take off a star, is because over a years time I have experiences two problems: One somewhat major and one minor. The major: My front left channel died out, so I had to double wire my fronts to be both front left channel speakers. The sound quality isnt all that bad, but the surround effect is deffinetly somewhat dampered. And minor: My subwoofer has a strange humming that randomly occurs. But all in all, a great set. Might want to check out the new set Logitech has out now over these though.

4 out of 5 eggsmy lost love

Comments: These speakers were my darling for about a year or more. They are everything they are advertised to be and more, worke absolutely splendidly. Everyone who visits my house and see's them has to comment on how great they look and sound.

My heartbreak comes from about a week ago. I tried to turn the volume down, and alas... my knob doesn't work. i can only change the system volume by remote. My warranties gone i'm sure (over a year) so I may try to fix it myself... Even busted as they are, these are still worth the buy. The best speakers I have ever owned...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Speakers

Comments: I've had these since around November 2004. They are nice and loud and have very powerful bass. I haven't seen a set of speakers yet without a hiss, but hiss in speakers doesnt bother me. It is pretty quiet. It will be a hard choice between using these on my computer or my new home theater projector. Maybe I can figure out a way to use them for both without messing up the surround sound.

Had this speaker system for awhile (about a year), I LOVE IT. Great to combo with WinAmp and the Enhancer plugin v0.17; some people have said their is a "hiss" when idle, but I have never had one, the only thing I can think of is that the people have turned on the "test" which makes a hissing/waterfall sound that moves from speaker to speaker and does not stop till you select it again. .

Comments: I've had these speakers for over a year now, and...........WOW! Amazing set of speakers. When they are on, but idle, there is a noticeable hiss, but it's not annoying or anything, just noticeable. Great sound though, and can compare to many systems that are greatly higher in price. Definitely five stars.
