Who would have thought that "affordable" and "THX Certified" would ever be said about the same set of speakers? Logitech makes is happen with the Z-2300 2.1 speaker system.
The 8-inch long-throw subwoofer with a flared bass port pounds out powerful, distortion-free bass. Polished aluminum phase plug at the center of the driver outperforms conventional 2-way designs projecting superb high-end clarity and rich mid-range tones for balanced sound.
The SoundTouch wired remote control features a headphone jack, master volume control, and volume control for the subwoofer.
Pros: Music: Punchy, clean, warm bass. Low crossover point for sub, making for no distortion. Very crisp highs and good-very good midrange. Movies: Voices sound like they are right there in the room with you. Rumbles are distortion free and vibrate the room (and beyond). Thx certification really comes through on movies. Games: Will update.
Cons: No Aux input. Headphone jack "sticky" No separate tweeter. Can't turn volume much past half without tuning with an EQ unless you want distortion leading to blown speakers, but don't get my wrong, it is still VERY loud when it is up half way. I wish the crossover point was a little higher so a little higher range bass came out of the sub. No treble adjustment on controller.
Other Thoughts: For this price range, this is the best speaker I could find. I read about 7 hours worth of reviews in 4 days on speakers, and was looking at this model, the Creative-mx5021(discontinued) and the Kl!psh GMX and Pro 2.1 systems. After considering the known issues with the Kl!psh subwoofer problems, and the now high street price of the discontinued Creative, I was left with one choice. I am not dissappointed in my purchase, although I was VERY weary after reading about there being "no mids", which much to my satisfaction, is a complete lie. Overall, these speakers sound great. The things that I am unsatisfied with are quite minor, and if you want these for Movies or Games, these are the speakers for you. Musically, you would want the MX5021's. Although that model has less power and the sub is not as good, it is overall more crisp and clean than this set. This set is still very good for music though, as I am extremely picky about sound quality. 4.5 of 5 stars

Pros: These speakers are truly amazing. The quality audio that these things put out is great. Before these I owned a set of Logitech Z-640's. That set was 5.1 with a 70 watt sub. I was kinda worried that I would miss the good old five speaker surround sound but these things have made me a changed man. These are much clearer at any volume or any frequency range than all other general use speakers I have heard. The sub is amazing and hits like a beast. I was so suprised when I gave them my little audio test mix. The sub stuck with my music all the way and never dropped off at any frequency. In fact, it shook the walls when i cranked it up... literally- it shook the walls. I am so impressed with these! I really can't say enough good things about them, and that's saying a lot coming from a guy who is an audiophile. Great buy- worth every penny!
Cons: This isn't really a con... just a little setup tip for people. The subwoofer puts out a lot of air from the porting so make sure to keep that side away from anything that might shake and leave you with annoying rattling or vibrations.
Other Thoughts: Man, I really can't say enough about these speakers. I use them for my Powerbook, iPod, and PS2... never been disappointed.

Pros: I bought these speakers to replace some very old Cambridge Soundworks speakers. I didn't realize how large the sub woofer would be. The sound is incredible. After only a week I haven't had much of a chance to fully explore everything these speakers can do, but I have no doubt what I have heard so far will more then satisfy me. I am a casual PC game player. Mostly first person shooters.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: A day before I purchased this I saw NewEgg price was $149. The day I went to purchase from NewEgg the price jumped $15 and a $20 rebate was now being offered. Another online competitor had it cheaper. I chatted with NewEgg before buying somewhere else and the CS person told me to buy from them and they would refund me $20 back, plus I still get the $20 rebate. It pays to shop around and it pays to bring it to NewEgg attention. Bravo NewEgg for not only matching the competitor price but beating it. I also only paid for standard 3 to 5 day shipping. I ordered Thursday afternoon and it was delivered next day Friday afternoon. Great job NewEgg.

Pros: 8" sub.
Cons: no mids. logitech must have thought one extreme to the other. can't believe this is all you need to be thx certified.
Other Thoughts: box weighed 37 lbs. massive bass. huge heatsink on back of enclosure. thinking about some 2.0 replacements for mids. i hope this system lasts.

Pros: All the volume, with limited to NO distortion.
Cons: I did not get them Sooner.
Other Thoughts: Here is a true Story. I bought these speakers, hid the sub under the desk and showed them to a roommate. He was not impressed, but then I turned the speakers and Bass controls to Half Level, and he could not hear me talk over the AC/DC concert going on in my Room. Needless to say, he bought his own set the next day. LOL... More POWER than you have in some Home Theatre Kits... A Must for any music lover... Read that again, A MUST!!!
