5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for what I paid.

Pros: I purchased this as an alternative to the headset mounted mic on my gaming headset. I have it mounted about 2 feet from my face and it picks up my voice very well with only using moderate boost. The sound quality is appropriate for this sort of mic. There is fair clarity, and the cord is plenty long enough for most stationary applications.

Cons: If you are looking to produce high quality voice recordings you obviously wouldn't want this mic. The adheasive on the back of the mic mount is pretty cheap and was easily bumped off where I had mounted it within a few hours. I replaced the adheasive with a higher quality adheasive to remedy that issue.

5 out of 5 eggsHow to Make It Louder

Pros: This is a "Lapel" microphone. Clip it onto your shirt collar or near the top button of your shirt.

It is intended to be placed within 4 to 6 inches of your mouth.

See "Other Thoughts" below to make it PICK UP YOUR VOICE EVEN BETTER.

Cons: Your voice should be reasonably clear with this mic. but, of course, a studio quality mic. will cost 10 to 20 times more!

Other Thoughts: If there is no other microphone connected to your computer (meaning no webcam and no headset-with-microphone) then Windows will select this little mic. as the default recording device. Also, regardless of whether or not it's set as default, Windows will adjust/limit the microphone recording volume to around 50%. This is too low for many standard microphones so you need to BOOST the recording volume.
Here's how to do it:
1.Locate the little speaker volume icon in your System Tray (near the right hand end of the Task Bar).
2.Right-click on the speaker/volume icon and left-click on Recording Devices. A small window/dialog box opens.
3.In the box there's a list. Now, plug in the microphone to a Mic. jack on the front or rear panel of your PC or the side panel of your laptop. In the dialog box an indicator will show the mic. you just plugged in along with a vertical blue bar to the right of microphone icon.
4.Left-click once on that microphone icon to highlight it.. Near the bottom of the box left-click on Set Default. Then left-click on Properties. A new window/dialog box opens.
5.In the new box there is a row of tabs along the top of the box. Left-click on the tab labeled Levels. Two slider controls should appear. Slide both controls all the way to the right (maximum). This will significantly boost the microphone recording volume.
6.Now click on the Enhancements tab along the top of the box. Notice the three checkboxes here. To minimize background noise while using the microphone you may wish to click on Noise Suppression. If you have sound coming through your speakers you may wish to click on Acoustic Echo Cancellation as well. I'm not sure about the DC Offset option; it may or may not benefit your microphone. Now click on OK then OK again to exit all of the dialog boxes.
7.You should now have maximum volume for your microphone. If the app you're using the microphone with has a Mic. selection box you may need to go into those sttings and make sure your microphone is properly selected. This applies to in-game chat, Skype, webcam recording, etc.
8.If you decide later to reduce the recording volume i suggest that you move the Microphone Boost slider control to the left until it shows +20dB or less, but it's usually best to leave the other slider control at 100%.

2 out of 5 eggsGet what you paid for.

Pros: it's only 5 bucks, and it does work.....sort of.

Cons: This mic is not very practical. In order for it to pick up my voice at all it has to be a MAXIMUM of two feet away. If I want it to hear me clearly, it has to be clipped onto my shirt, in which case I might as well just use my headset.

Other Thoughts: Got it for real cheap, what can I say, you get what you paid for.

5 out of 5 eggsA simple mic.

Pros: It works.
It's small, about the size of an ipod shuffle.
Comes with a plastic mount with (pre-applied) double-sided tape.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I forced open the case which was sealed with a type of CA glue. It simply contains a condenser mic element, tiny capacitor and a bit of foam tape. The soldering job was a tad messy but sufficient.

For the price, it's great... especially for hobby-folk looking for a mic element, 3.5mm male jack, a bit of cable, and a plastic mic element holder.
