3 out of 5 eggsDecent Sound, Bad Lighting

Pros: Fair sound quality, especially for the price point.

Cons: There is a physical controller that is wired between the speakers and the subwoofer that allow you to control the overall volume as well as a separate control for the subwoofer.
The bad thing about this is that this controller has two BRIGHT blue lights on it.
This is especially troublesome when your computer is in your bedroom, as mine is.
It lit up my room at night like a Christmas tree, so I had to put duct tape over the lights so they wouldn't be visible.
Had I know this ahead of time, I would not have bought this unit.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the bright lights on the controller, I don't see a need for it in the first place. These are speakers for a computer, and computers have their own built in software control for sound.
I know I will never use the actual physical controller, and in addition to taping over the annoying lights, I have buried the controller behind my PC.
Perhaps others would have some unforeseen need or want for such a physical controller, but to me it is a waste.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the money!

Pros: Great sound for the price. Gets loud enough. I'm happy with it for gaming.

Cons: The bass doesn't seem low enough but what do you expect for 40 bucks... not that big of a deal unless you have the bass way up.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It

Pros: Great sound. Bass and satellites. I use it to augment my speakers on my television. For the money, you cant go wrong.

Cons: None in particular. I'm sure if I compared it to $100 to $200 speakers I could find a few faults, but I'm more than happy for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsBest $50 (at the time) speakers ever.

Pros: Nice and loud. Deafening in some cases, depending on what you use them for. I have yet to put these in a room big enough to be able to turn everything all the way up and not hurt myself with the noise.

The volume, bass volume, on/off switch, headphone, alternate input, are all on one control that's pretty easy to find a place for on anyone's desk at about the same width as a soda can, and about an inch tall.
The top quarter is a big dial with a lit blue circle in the middle when the speakers are on.

The bass on these is QUITE impressive. If one were to listen to a rainstorm soundtrack or video with the bass all the way up, the thunder would likely startle the animals living in the house. ...It has.

Sufficient cord length. I can't say it's an overly long cord, but it's more than long enough to keep as desk speakers.

In my experience, they're quite durable. The subwoofer has been kicked by my size 14 shoes many times over the years, and the satellites have been knocked or pulled off my desk onto tile many times, with no noticeable problems. One of the satellites has a small rattle in it, but that's about it.

Cons: There's a lot of cords. Each satellite has one cord that merges into one, that plugs into the subwoofer, and the control dial plugs both into the subwoofer, and into the audio source. In my case, my PC.
If you have a lot of wires, consider some management for those, heh.

The audio, at low volumes, can distort slightly, and/or it sometimes won't play the same volume through both satellites. Left is usually louder in that case. At higher volumes, this is either unnoticeable or non-existent.
The same thing happens far worse when plugging in headphones to the control dial. I frequently had to lightly tap on the dial to move it so that I could bump it into equality.

At higher bass levels, the cabinet will rattle a little. To be fair, mine is about four years old now, and that was 3/4ths up the dial and halfway through a Rush drum solo.

Other Thoughts: I love these speakers, honestly. I didn't get them from Newegg, I actually picked them up from Staples for $50 a few years ago.

The inequal audio was only noticeable when I was living with my parents and had to keep the noise down at night, and that's also when I noticed the same problem but worse with the headphones.

I never used the auxiliary input, but i assume it would work just fine.
I love the control dial. It was a gimmick that worked for me, on top of providing excellent speakers.
These speakers are fantastic. I would recommend them for anyone who needs to fill up a room or two with some really good sound.
I'm actually buying another set for my sister, who is just discovering the power of loud music, and is restricted to cheap headphones.
